Mrs. M's father passed away overnight (our time). Expected but still sad. I will call Little M later with the news (typical teenager and he has no reason to get up early since his summer courses are all evening classes). Funeral is on Saturday so she's staying another week. Tough to be so far apart at a time like this.
Sorry to hear that, Mendalla. My prayers for you and your family.

Oh my goodness - what a cool and creative place Sea Cones is! The photos on the menu are making my mouth water ... there truly is nothing that compares to an East Coast lobster roll! So delightful that Mrs.Anteater & Seeler will be getting together for a visit!

I am not really enjoying lobster, but their ice cream cups have names like “pirate’s island”.

Glad Giancarlo is back. Also delighted to hear that Mrs. M has returned from her family ordeal. You'll have a blissful sleep tonight, Mendalla, I'll bet.

*Bette bustles about adding some nice cool fresh fruit trays to the buffet, and setting out pitchers of iced drinks in addition to the usual coffee/tea/herbal concoctions*

Had my final meeting of my Tuesday Night group tonight - a potluck supper. We were going to have a bit of a yack afterwards, but, long story short, guy who was going to bring the video got ill and so we just packed up and said goodnight after dinner. I love these people, miss talking with them in the summer, but it gets so hot in the Oak Room, and too many of us are gardeners...

Snoozed off at 4pm and 7pm. Getting caught up on lack of sleep last week.

Now wide awake at 1:30 . Hmmmm

Mrss.Anteater, the ice cream boat sounds delightful. I'm sure I'll enjoy their offerings more than once - and Seelerman and I usually splurge on a feed of seafood each summer. So although we plan to prepare most of our simple meals in your kitchen, we will likely be enjoying some lobster.

Carolla, although a good visit with Mrs.Anteater would be delightful, the idea of house-sitting/cat-sitting is that we will be there while Mrs.Anteater is in Germany. Unfortunately things like her work schedule, our medical appointments, and other things mean that she will be working right up to the day we arrive and leaving the next day. The same on the return trip. Probably one night each way.
Mrs.Anteater has graciously offered us information of where to go and what to see, the use of her home, and the pleasure of her garden. We are certainly looking forward to a relaxing time, going here and there when the spirit moves us, and just sitting around with a cat on our lap or going for a stroll, away from the busyness of home. (Seelerman speaks cat-talk - a certain tone of voice he uses just for cats.)

I need sleep too Pinga...I'm in worry mode, which means I don't sleep well. And I worry about things over which I have no control. Our church camp is having a hard time getting important positions filled: A 18 year old or older Waterfront director, and a cook. Both are pretty crucial to a camp! But, somehow, my worrying and tossing and turning at night doesn't solve the problem. Sigh.

Beautiful day here today - sunny, breezy, not too hot. I did a bit more gardening & some errands, and soon will hit the shower to start getting ready for my retirement dinner with my core team. And then tomorrow is my last day of work! Seems a bit surreal, but I'm content that I've made a good decision & all will unfold as it should.

Good luck tomorrow Carolla! Accept all the well-wishes, and some of the envy, while you look forward to this new stage in life.
