Our Mission
WonderCafe2 is a home for open-minded discussion and exploration of spiritual topics, moral issues and life's big questions. It is also a community where we laugh, cry, share and have some fun together.
Who we are
We are here
… to create and find community
… to discuss, to think, to challenge each other, to learn
… to share, to play, to laugh
… to support and find support
Wondercafe2 has a simple mandate: To be a place where we can discuss the big topics like God, faith, the universe, and the meaning of it all, but also to be a community where we laugh, cry, share, and have some fun together.
While many of us come from religious denominations, the site is about discussion and sharing, not seeking converts or spreading a particular message. Persons of all faith backgrounds are welcome.
We welcome all persons who bring respect for others, an open, sharing heart, and a need for an online community that embodies those values.
Wondercafe2 is our online community and we hope it can be yours, too.
Our Roots
WonderCafe2 is an independent community that formed out of the active participants of the United Church of Canada’s Wondercafe forum.
Wondercafe was a daring effort by The United Church of Canada to reach out to Canadians who may not have been attending church to give them a way to discuss faith issues in new and exciting ways. WonderCafe wasn't about selling the denomination. It was about creating a forum for Canadians to talk about spirituality and faith. Active participants came from a variety of backgrounds and faith communities beyond the United Church. There was even an international component as participants joined in from Australia and the United States.
Wondercafe2 honours these roots by continuing to welcome participants of a diversity of religious and cultural backgrounds from across Canada and around the world.
