How was church today?

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

I led worship at the same church where I felt I sort of 'bombed' last week. This week went much better, because I made a point to think about the congregation needs rather than whatever was in my own head and heart. Sometimes I can be self-centered. The message was about leadership, including the all-important leadership by example, which anyone any age can do. My sister told me about the very special worship and fellowship they had at my home church, which I haven't been to in awhile. It centered around a song, some spontaneous singing and clapping, and one of our oldest congregation members announcing that it was her favourite song and gave hugs to everyone responsible for it. A guest apparently said: Today, I felt like I really worshipped. How wonderful.

Our service started out with a strange concept from Pete Seeger on god being in everything ... and from there mankind started to segregate and isolate so as to support the war games and related industry ...

I'm sure as real folk don't see all things they couldn't see the mental attribute of inhibition to emotional free raging ... like a waterfall or reined storm? Freedom to bear arms ... why not bare the whole thing ...

Hi crazyheart,

We have moved about an hour's drive from Steinbach. I will continue to provide occasional service as they go forward. I will also provide such service to some faith communities here in Winnipeg. Will also connect with diverse hospitality ministries in the City. Looks like an exciting time approaching. Lots of energy and keen to support and encourage persons and groups as the spirit leads us forward.

Thanks...!

Looked into it. Seems sporadic. Some can and some can't. Not sure why. Would you mind checking it again and letting me know if it still fails to respond? I would appreciate this.

The Pilgrimage goes on ... Grim orno't! Some say a knotty lass ... rare on the heather as heathens ... common folk as denied ...

The word was ... don't teach eM anything ... only about the untouchable everything ... thus they can't screw it up as mortal powers do ... corruption? Is there a lesser power ... subtle ... or just sub dude as Odin?

Do we really know what lies underneath the myths, or veiled behind the scene goings on ...?

Some digging and ex cave-scion required to uncover the unseen ... trick stir in the cesspool of life? You just know the PEW is necessary ... stirs the senses previously somnolent ... then maybe not!

Whys does a book or tome have a female genre? Just to scare the crap out of de boule ... called Ron ... a vessel to deliver out own future ... as' sol? Thus that inner burn ...

In today's sermon Rev. John mentioned that in the bible Jesus asked 307 questions and he only answered 3 questions. Ha ha this made me think of the bumper sticker that some folks have saying, "Jesus Is The Answer." Maybe the bumper sticker should read, "Jesus Asks The Questions." Again a sermon with interesting ideas worth thinking over and questioning in the week ahead.

umm,@You just never know, did he tell you the 3 questions and answers.
Nope, guess he wants us to do some bible reading and find them ourselves! I know one of the three was when the rich guy asked what he needed to do to find life, and Jesus told him to give away his wealth and follow along. Jesus was asked a lot of questions, but he rarely gave the straight answer that folks who like certainty would like. He often answered a question by posing another question or by telling a story/parable. My take is that Jesus wants us to think, blind faith was not his thing. :)

You Just Never Know - I think I would like your church.
My church was great. One of the best services I've been to in a long time. And the main floor of the ssanctuary was full, and the balcony crowd expanding. Most seemed to stay for the gathering in the gym afterwards - our welcome party for getting back into the groove for fall. Various groups had tables lining the walls - letting people know what we do and inviting them to join a committee or group. Everyting from the worship committee, to the UCW, to the outreach committee, to the Sunday School, to the book club and many more. I supervised the Affirming table, right next to our W@W outreach table. Lots of interest - possibly because of the recent video of our work on Wednesdays.
Came home feeling very positive about the future of our congregation in the next year.

The answers are all questionable ... I Thessalonians 5:23 or somewhere about that point ... to support God's point being everywhere and in a large line as wend ... encircled? Just to fulfil the law that God's people didn't wish to know ... a law based on naïveté ... but some of us are sinful inquisitors ... Peking without doing injury! One might have to bow the head or duck ...

Our minister preached on the 2 or 3 together to sustain a group or 4 or 5 that might add up to 6 ... with a spark a sense of the magic number and the 7th appeared as V-king, or Viking ... people that roamed in Nordic vessels.

He did start the session with a comment that many Viking remains indicated female DNA content. How silly to deny that we all have some mother and father in us as well as grand parents ... that can contribute grandly to our sub dude con science .. and thus we may be dull and black inside ... an unseen space ... invisible domain except for the great surgeon ... this may be opened up by Excalibur a variant of Clayborn Swords ... double edged none-the-less like some words of Allah gory ... plasma-like!

Many hosts of people stick with one way terminology ... a simpler philosophy than life itself that is complex as God ... virtue unknown! Gods were indicated to be bad actors in myth ...

Thus subtle lesser people under cover of the stage lights ... limy or lime light? A bit green ... some never get to the apple shade ...

Wasn't he a True Rabbi? :whistle:1

My Sunday worship was at a lakeside campsite. peace. The main sounds were birdsong (especially geese and cranes migrating overhead), lapping wavelets on the lakeshore, occasional rustling dried grasses as my wee dog explored the area. It was quite smoky, but it was the same at home so not a great problem.

I enjoyed church today. There was a guest kids choir and instructor visiting - who also use the space on certain evening, inviting this congregation's kids to join. She had everybody singing in a "round". The sermon was about Jesus eating and drinking with the sinners and we're all sinners - and a relevant story about an elder he knew who was a British marine in WW2, moved to Florida after the war, pre-civil rights, and invited some black people from the town over for lunch. Word got around and a couple of prominent white townfolk gave him a strict and threatening warning not to do it again. Then the minister went back to discussing Jesus and his breaking bread with those who mainstream society excluded - his radical inclusiveness.

First philosophy and faith workshop will be focused on equality and social justice. And how equality cannot be alienated from justice and liberty - because then evils are justified in the appeal to equality.

This pastor is super cool. Smart, interesting, thought provoking and totally easy going.

Today we had a wonderful church service. Good songs, prayer and sharing. My home church is a great community of love. The youth pastor gave a very good and firm message to the book of Daniel today. His emphasis was on Christ and on the kingdom of God rather than on life. After that, some friends and I went to lunch at a local mall

where was Yobo and Yobomom?

Yobo and Chungmoneem were at Yobo's flower store. They are there most Sundays. They will come to church whenever I am preaching. They are great supporters of my preaching endeavor. I am very thankful for them.
