@Seeler Thanks. I suspect that I know what you mean. Some small part of my worldview might coincide with that of a frothing anti-theist but I find them intensely disagreeable in almost every respect. Overall I have a great deal more in common with liberal or moderate theists than I do with the extremes from either end of the field.

@Pinga No, this is my first time posting here and I was never a member of the original WonderCafe. I infrequently browsed them but never signed up until last night. Perhaps we've crossed paths elsewhere? Possibly in RL?!? :eek:

No one I can put my finger on. I might be thinking of a guy who was a university professor but I don't remember his name and I think he lived in Ontario.
 
There it is again. When hyda said he was from Eastern Canada I presumed he meant the Maritimes, or possibly NL. I wondered if I might have run into him, or if we might meet in the future.
I never think of Ontario as Eastern Canada.

Hyla is from NB per his profile. The Ontario reference in @paradox3's post is to another old WC poster that she thought might be Hyla.

You know in some old variants ... levant was the west wind at one point ... Van de Val was another expression that filled out the 4 points of Jude, Sirocco and Mistral ... Mistral was a cold north wind ... Sirocco was hot ... go figure!

It did allow for Semite forms of communication ... and metaphorical ambiguity as well ... some adepts? Then there is that little black spot to end any sentence ... and then we're out ... abstracted?

Those points are the devil to those stuck with one way learning ... like what only the private self has to offer is best? Could we learn beyond that aspiration that we know everything ... when the virtue is obviously very much unknown. Some men say they have been shanghaied by the concept ... and thus seen much more than when comfortably at home ... get out wit yah ... or You'll Never Know! You can learn in a book or tome ... but other's will deny your experience!

Some medium may be socialistic even though there is some resistance by those sunk in at OHM ... not learning much! Tis the ground where we start ... since they is reservations about rounded education ... in cycles, or by cycles!
