I went out dancing tonight. My first social dance in a very long time. I think I overdid it. It's tough, I was feeling so stiff at the beginning and then loosened up and felt great so wanted to keep going. Some movements really seemed to do some good things for areas that have been stiff for a while.
My feet, legs and neck really stiffened up on the way home though. I've showered already, just getting some food into me before sleep. I expect to be sore tomorrow, I just really hope it's a I haven't done that in a while soreness and nothing else.

This is part of the reason why I cut out social dancing too, even on my better days. It's late and I always find it hard to stop, later on you're warm, feeling better, better music is played, better dancers are out there, it's when the people I know tend to show up, etc.

(Catching up on posts now) I hope everyone had a good start to the weekend! I haven't notice too much smoke, although I've caught a few whiffs in our bathroom. I assume coming from the fan, I thought it was from the neighbour smoking, but forest fires seems more likely. Chemguy and I have both had some minor allergy symptoms too, I often react before smelling it. CH, take care of your breathing!

In Which Your Narrator and Their Sweetie Meet Fellow Cascadians

So, y'know, like awesome

It seems like only yesterday, waving goodbye to the trailing laughter of the Wonderbus as it made its way to the much Wetter, Hotter, and Colder?? East

*cue That Was Yesterday by Foreigner*

I'm glad I met so many rockstars in Cascadia

taking public transit through the everpresent drug that is wonder here over to the chapelinthewoods that is the Church on Dunbar

the kind of church that is a fun mishmash of architecture, beautiful stucco & stained glass inside. and gym right behind the worshippin

where patient, delicate and elegant greeters calmly greeted and chatted. i asked if they knew aboot wondercafe. someone went off stage, rummaged around and found the white wc flag and put it out front.

people were petering in. pauling? marying?

eventually came the hug fest as the clown car drove up arrivals spilled out, each in their own way: @myst again and her sweetie. got to experience @Pinga (a fellow bellower & dancer & jiver & full of hilaritas) and pixielike and full-of-fierce-grace @Motheroffive whose hair captures sunbeams

i was fortunate enough to see a sermon of that fellow liker of Frank Herbert, @RichardBott (& his pretty nifty sweetie, Eva). i loved his engagement, his passion, his enthusiasm, his wearing of sensible shoes and clothes, his interaction with the audience, his ray bradbury-like sense of wonder of humanity and his actual listening to the children. i got to learn aboot a different culture, the difference between a kitchen and a living room...

i didn't expect to cry. the solo opera bits didn't help

and sometimes ya just gotta dance

the place where we ended up eating was the kind of place where all the staff are cute and the waitcritters all say 'perfect'. this is where i gots to see finally in the flesh fellow space 'other (and handsome dude) @Neo, peaceful and wise and patient and lazer perceptive @Wolfie

thank you to all who made @Nutmeg welcome

then the Wonderbus came by, remember that? almost through the window and people spilling around and chairs having to be found

and then

it was over

we all parted ways

changed by having experienced each other

the ancient greeks used to say that one could recognize the g_ds by their overwhelming hilaritas :3

:ROFLMAO: I have momentarily delayed processing right now...I read that wrong...You mean made into officials? Or handed over to them?;)

All fossils found must be turned in to officials (or handed in to).

They need to know the location so they can get a dig team on site and possible find more. In some cases they are returned to you after they have done the research on said found fossil.

But I've been in the Badlands Boots, and the ground is littered with fossils, usually small and insignificant but never-the-less they are there at your feet. If you stumbled across a huge femur or something like that then 'yes', I could see them wanting to know. Some of the fossils in the park they've left right in the ground, partially exposed. It's and amazing place those Badlands.

I'd be the same wayactually :3

a canadian company has successfully been able to market gem quality ammonites (they call them 'ammolites') mining them from some native land in the prairies...i've seen some of the specimens and WOW

I currently own one that was given to me as a gift from my mother.

Hence why some are given back to you. The small and insignificant ones. When was the last time you were in the area?

Small insignificant fossils are harder to find now and the Hoodoos are all barricaded and fenced off now.

Oh.. I was there in the early 80's. We went on tour through the hoodoos, I don't remember any fences.

When my hubby and I were engaged we toured the Hoodoos. We have a great pic of us in among the Hoodoos that you can't even touch with a ten foot pole now. That picture was taken 16 years ago.
