Nope and if we did there is a law in effect stating that they must be turned into officials.Did you find any dinosaur bones?
Of course you always follow the law, yet when you don't you surely don't post about it on the internet.Nope and if we did there is a law in effect stating that they must be turned into officials.

Hiked a canyon today!
My favorite day in Las Vegas was the one where we went hiking in Red Rock Canyon. Nothing like a day outdoors to liven you up and cleanse the soul.
Where was this canyon, Boots?

I have momentarily delayed processing right now...I read that wrong...You mean made into officials? Or handed over to them?

Honestly hubby did try to find an ammonite with no luck and I didn't find out about the law till after we got back home.![]()
But I've been in the Badlands Boots, and the ground is littered with fossils, usually small and insignificant but never-the-less they are there at your feet. If you stumbled across a huge femur or something like that then 'yes', I could see them wanting to know. Some of the fossils in the park they've left right in the ground, partially exposed. It's and amazing place those Badlands. All fossils found must be turned in to officials (or handed in to).
They need to know the location so they can get a dig team on site and possible find more. In some cases they are returned to you after they have done the research on said found fossil.
I'd be the same wayactually :3
a canadian company has successfully been able to market gem quality ammonites (they call them 'ammolites') mining them from some native land in the prairies...i've seen some of the specimens and WOW

Oh.. I was there in the early 80's. We went on tour through the hoodoos, I don't remember any fences.I currently own one that was given to me as a gift from my mother.
Hence why some are given back to you. The small and insignificant ones. When was the last time you were in the area?
Small insignificant fossils are harder to find now and the Hoodoos are all barricaded and fenced off now.
