Where's that groan emoji when you need one?
Europe has made a rule that all ” electronics”- or at least the phones, have to have the same plug ins. Hopefully that will eventually swap over to us here.I am tired of chargers. Not all the chargers are the same. Not all the cables are the same. There is android, there is apple. I have a lovely wyrd multi-purpose thing (charging station, flashlight, AND handwarmer) that needs a blackberry charger. Do not get me started on the chargers for vape pens.
All holidays are invented, really. It's just some have a longer history and clearer significance than others. Christmas and Easter come from Christianity and also have ties to other seasonal festivals (Solstice and Equinox) so have significance on a couple levels. Ditto Jewish and Muslim holidays like Rosh Hashanah and Eid al'Fitr. But, yeah, Family Day is an especially odd case since there is really nothing historical or spiritual behind it, just a desire for an extra long weekend in Winter (it also makes the university break weeks effectively four days instead of five since a lot of universities now put Reading Week in the week of Family Day thereby avoiding losing a day of classes on Family Day). That’s what I love about Canada- we just invent a new holiday because there was none in February.
Makes it easier when the merger finally happens, eh.I suspect that the timing for Family Day, or whatever it may be called locally, was chosen to coincide with the Americans' Presidents Day.
It's interesting the references to family day and US.
I worked for multinational company based in US. Reported and was part of us team for many many years. They didn't get a holiday in us. Couldn't believe when we got one
Presidents day is a federal holiday.
Interesting, family day is not a national holiday so Canada post was working yesterday
Yeah, it's funny how the whole "holiday in February" movement started in the provinces and still hasn't been picked up by the feds. Not sure if all provinces are even doing it or doing it on the same day. Have not checked in a while. Usually, it's the other way around, there's days that are still federal holidays but not business or retail holidays in the provinces (Boxing Day? Though in Ontario, that's still a business holiday, just not retail).Interesting, family day is not a national holiday so Canada post was working yesterday
