@Northwind --- earlier in the thread.
I will quote it here. Bold added by me
I just made a third coffee for this morning. I tuned in to Toronto City Council mtg livestream today - a best friend's husband is retiring from City & is scheduled to address council this morning - this is a tradition when senior city staff leave. But as soon as the mtg was called to order, a person began shouting from the gallery & would not quiet down even after her request for accomdation was made. She went on to other issues, seeming intent on disrupting the meeting - its budget day & there is lots of contention about it. They cleared the chamber after repeated attempts to settle the situation. So we are 'in recess' now while security deals with the situation. Was supposed to be 5 min, then announced as 10 minutes - has been much longer - hence, I might as well have some more coffee & pick up a knitting project!

And the income tax papers are starting to roll into the mailbox .... must be February!
Has become super windy here now ... might venture out for a short walk as the sun has come out - hope I don't blow over!

Main news in German newspaper was that a backhoe has hit a bunch of cables when working on a train track near Frankfurt airport, cutting several, which caused a blackout in Lufthansa’s computer system and shut down the airport for several hours, planes had to be rerouted to other cities. Whoever has been to Frankfurt airport will know what chaos this does mean…
Its all fixed now, but I would not want to be in the shoes of the ones who had to reorganize a whole airport…

Ah, IT's worst enemy: Joe Backhoe. Back in the mid-nineties, we had some dweeb knock out three library branches that way (previous employer). And in my current role, we used to have an office with above-ground phone lines where the neighbour's truck kept knocking lines down until some Bell tech finally got a clue and raised them higher.

For the sake of an old friend:
It is in the shelter of each other, Luce NDs

Good morning! as we note gatherings with families (as a Christmas gift) and friends (through connections made through the medical system) lucky socks and same birth surnames, villages and house we've shared with others on the site, sometimes we find we're more closely connected than we know. Let us gather round the Coffee Cart for crumpets and hot beverages, and become more cognizant of how connected we truly are. All is ready, come and get it.

As some know, I've become an avid sewer. I also post what I make on Facebook.

Last week a Facebook acquaintance messaged me, asking if I could sew something for her

I thought some of the OTs might be interested.

It is to take in the wrist of some mitts they purchased which stop a person from injuring themselves with their nails.

Nice to be able to put my learned skills and equipment to good use to help someone

Yes - great to be able use your skills like that. There was a time when an industrial sewing machine was standard equipment in an OT dept - we made & adapted many things to enhance/enable daily independence and safety. Now most stuff is just purchased I think - cost to the individual & family, often with minimal input from professionals.

‘It’s a miracle’: 93-year-old mystery quilt returns home to Echo Bay
I hope you can open the above link. It is about an old church quilt that found its way from California to Ontario last month. I was leading worship at the church the day they announced the story.
Wow @Nancy - that's a fabulous story! How fascinating for the person who found it to look a little more closely & discover its hidden treasures. I'm so glad Echo Bay has a museum that will house it long into the future. So many churches made those quilts. I have seen them hung on walls in various churches I have known. A story of good news and a celebration of ancestors is always welcome!

Good morning! We gather in spirit around the Coffee Cart, to celebrate the use of sewing skills to assist in OT, the return of a historic quilt to the congregation that created it, and in support of those receiving unexpected medical news. For these and other topics of conversation and concern, the Cart is ready. Come join us when you can.
