Did the coffee cart just arrive? No matter I will grab a cup.

I haven't done anything to observe Lent the past few years. Might go traditional and give something up. Maybe give myself a pass for Sundays which is also a tradition.

Weird. I posted the coffee thing this morning, but it never took. Has to do it again about 15 minutes ago, and the cups lost their colours.

I am tired of chargers. Not all the chargers are the same. Not all the cables are the same. There is android, there is apple. I have a lovely wyrd multi-purpose thing (charging station, flashlight, AND handwarmer) that needs a blackberry charger. Do not get me started on the chargers for vape pens.

Europe has made a rule that all ” electronics”- or at least the phones, have to have the same plug ins. Hopefully that will eventually swap over to us here.

Good morning! Happy Family Day (or however your area names it)! For visits from grandkids, and for grandkids-to-be, for family members with health issues, for different chargers for different gadgets, for all the other stuff that comes to the table, the Coffee Cart is ready. Come on in and join a conversation or even start one. All is ready.

Maybe because of following insane precedent's a separate Dae altogether ...

Leaves some of us dazed ... as if hit with a Black Forest Ham here ... clarity is improbable when dealing with aspiring mortals ... pointy pyres? Yet vapours rise --- Freud! (chill'd)

If nothing is to be understood make a storied individual ... an Eros ... casting clouds!

Maritime sleet ... in the east ... a Muru ... mated with unknown seize ... floaters????

That’s what I love about Canada- we just invent a new holiday because there was none in February.
All holidays are invented, really. It's just some have a longer history and clearer significance than others. Christmas and Easter come from Christianity and also have ties to other seasonal festivals (Solstice and Equinox) so have significance on a couple levels. Ditto Jewish and Muslim holidays like Rosh Hashanah and Eid al'Fitr. But, yeah, Family Day is an especially odd case since there is really nothing historical or spiritual behind it, just a desire for an extra long weekend in Winter (it also makes the university break weeks effectively four days instead of five since a lot of universities now put Reading Week in the week of Family Day thereby avoiding losing a day of classes on Family Day).

Good morning. Sun is shining here but it is colder than yesterday so not sure if I can get out for a walk like I did yesterday. Will see how things are come afternoon.

I suspect that the timing for Family Day, or whatever it may be called locally, was chosen to coincide with the Americans' Presidents Day.

I have good memories from when Family day started even though I broke my knee this long weekend as a kid.
I think today is probably the holiday with the most free events of venues that are normally open vs something like Canada Day or Heritage Day where it's mostly groups putting on events that aren't running things all the time.

Good morning, all! Hope your holiday was a good one. The Coffee Cart is ready to host your conversations on many topics, discussing Family Day memories, Black Forest ham, or whatever is on your mind. All and sundry are welcome.

Cold and clear here this morning. Alberta had the first Family Day and it was chosen by a premier with a fondness for the US.

It's interesting the references to family day and US.

I worked for multinational company based in US. Reported and was part of us team for many many years. They didn't get a holiday in us. Couldn't believe when we got one

Presidents day is a federal holiday.

Interesting, family day is not a national holiday so Canada post was working yesterday

All part of anti federalism? Assists in national efficiency ... no rest for eM!

Yeah, it's funny how the whole "holiday in February" movement started in the provinces and still hasn't been picked up by the feds. Not sure if all provinces are even doing it or doing it on the same day. Have not checked in a while. Usually, it's the other way around, there's days that are still federal holidays but not business or retail holidays in the provinces (Boxing Day? Though in Ontario, that's still a business holiday, just not retail).
