Is a female playing the role of Jesus blasphemous?

It made me spit my coffee out with laughter when I read. "So only men like Jesus and Paul had the ability to defend the rigfhts of women to equality."

Jesus may have shown some kindness toward women; however, he failed to challenge systemic patriarchy. His ambiguous stance on gender equality allowed later Christian interpretations to reinforce female subjugation.

By selecting only male apostles, he set a precedent excluding women from leadership, one still cited by religious groups today. His teachings were later interpreted to demand female submission (e.g., "Wives, submit to your husbands").

Many religious communities continue restricting women's rights through these traditions. Had Jesus explicitly advocated for full gender equality, history might have unfolded differently, rather than perpetuating the oppressive structures women still fight against today.

And where was Mariah in all this?

She was gone with the wind that would support her ... a cool north wind ... Mistral! Nothing like it to Kohl the fires ... take it with 6 feet down ... perm a frost?

Then there was the situation on Lake La Farge ... some stoking is required Dan! Thus St Oak'rs ... nutz! Folk in the machine room ...

Occurrences ... for when the truth is verbose! That's writ ...

Now why did he record that? It was just Eire ... Eire Ann? Passing gas ... thin?

Of course, a Black man was needed to help bring justice to other Blacks. What you don't get is that a Jewish male was similarly needed to pursue equality for women in a patriarchal culture.
Jesus and Paul were men in a patriarchal culture where women were their husband's property. So only men like Jesus and Paul had the ability to defend the rigfhts of women to equality.
That's like saying Gandhi had to be British.

And really, what sort of "equality" was achieved?

And now in your country, Christianity is trying to take rights from women. Rights they fought hard for.

Years ago, in Shakespeare times all roles were played by men, so perhaps a woman could now play a man,
Isn't it like straight actors playing Gay characters and gay actors playing straight?

Are you really that blind or are you stupid? I mean, how did that work out? What have the loudest American "Christians" learned about that message? How do they demonstrate those teachings?

What a ridiculous comment.

It appears this needs repeating!
Nah, it needs to be put in context. What you appear to be saying is a man can tell women that they need a man to save them, because hey, it's in the bible. But the women can't turn around and call the man an asshat, even though he's very clearly an asshat.

You appear to be standing with Berserk here. Take a look at what he writes and ask yourself which is more offensive?

If you accept Berserk's misogyny and general disdain for our forum, and reserve your pushback for those who roundly reject his chauvinism and his narcissism because of a few choice words, then you've lost the plot.

What equality did they achieve? Well., for example, ikn Paul's churches women could be apostles, prophets, and teachers. Women were so liberated in the early church, that in the md-2nd century Tatian could complain that the Roman church basically consisted of women and their children. And who do you think c onverted all thee women?

Early church. How's it working today?

Your faculties are totally slipping.

MLK Jrs whole role in life was to forward the civil rights movement in the U.S. gaining full rights for people NOT deemed to be white. So, it would be very confusing to cast MLK white. However, it would not be ridiculous to make MLK female.

Beloved child of godde is not a gendered thing at all.
I thought of that. However, MLK was an imperfect child of God. If some historical accounts of his personal life are true, he was also prone to being a heavy drinker, misogynist and womanizer. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t an important figure for civil rights and that he didn’t risk, and sacrifice, his life for that cause. His courage undoubtedly inspired other justice movements. Jesus’ story, from a Christian point of view, opens the door for universal human justice movements, so it makes sense that the perfect blameless human would be portrayed by a more diverse individual yet Universally Human person.

Not an alcoholic per se but even if he was I’m not judging just trying to support my point about why keeping MLK cast as a man who was misogynist would be an interesting juxtaposition, and real. He wasn’t a superhero. And nobody said he was sinless, unlike Jesus. This is one version of MLK’s personal story that I remember reading about. Didn’t see the play. Nowadays there are lots more slanderous things being said about him - probably coming from the far right trolls - so I don’t want to confuse those, with this - which was several years ago. I admire MLK. He wasn’t sinless but he was important.

Early church. How's it working today?
I was responding to the insinuation that there was no gender equality in the early church.
How's it working today? Real progress is being made: half of US Protestant denominations now ordain women.
