busy doing the things that need doing-all bags are unpacked today and have started repacking-yard work awaits when it is cooler-but would rather be sewing and reading!

I'm really enjoying the rain currently! :)
No more smokey smell in the house. We're both going to be more careful with the windows during this period. Luckily with the AC the windows in the bedroom never got touched.
I feel a little congested, but that should clear up, it's normal for me to feel like this for a while in the morning after being around anything that could trigger my allergies the day before.

Tabitha, do you know if the Ogopogo statue is still there in Kelowna?

Does your 'new' home feel like home yet?

Ahhhh! I am beyond frustrated trying to get things set up with the hospital. I have the doctor. The IV clinic won't deal with blood. The day clinic is too busy. I never actually spoke to anyone with HPT while there. No one is picking up right now, left a message. Fingers crossed something will happen. When I had called they just made it sound like I needed a doctor - I did that. Worked hard for it too. Called around, I was told my GP should be doing that work. When there's no list, I can't expect my GP to just phone nearby clinics like I did though.

This system creates way too much work for both the doctors and the patients.

Thinking of you chemgal. You're really having a tough time with all this - adjusting to your circumstances, daily. But you're a trooper - I admire your resilience!

Thanks Kimmio.
I've given up. I've exhausted every avenue I can think of, besides waiting to hear back from one person.
I just need to get really really good at this so I can avoid the ER :) Sucks though a nurse in the IV clinic commented yesterday about how I would be a tough start, just looking at my hands.

There is good news too - today Canada approved a new med. It's only for attacks (not just advertising, like my current drug is, but actually only for attacks). It is subcutaneous, so much easier than an IV. I don't know if I will be using this any time soon, I'm doing well on what I have, and preventing is better than just treating attacks. It's nice to know that option is now available though, and if I need it I can get it ASAP, no waiting for approval with the Special Access Program.

Not sure if there is Ogopogo in Kelowna. There is an Ogopaogo statue in water park in Vernon.
Does your place feel like home yet, as opposed to a place to live? I'm intrigued because it seems to take different people different amounts of time to see where they are living as a home as opposed to a place where they happen to be living

Health Canada does not move swiftly, but they move eventually.

I'm actually waiting for another one to ask my doctor about. It's basically the same thing that I'm on now, but is allowed to be advertised for prevention, not attacks. The half-life is longer. What I don't know is if that difference actually creates a difference in dosing. Needing to only dose every 5 days instead of 4 make a difference over a long period, especially if it also reduces the number of attacks in between.

The weird thing is it was approved a while ago, but currently there's no supply in Canada currently. Initially it was estimated this summer, but that's been delayed and I expect the date to be pushed back multiple times.

People in the US are currently excited about another drug that's been approved there - rabbit's milk instead of human blood. We might have that in 5 years, if lucky is my guess. Probably longer though. I don't think that one will be suitable for me either way with my allergies though.

Ahhhh ... weekend again! For me the best part is that there will be NO roadwork on my street! No huge machines causing the house to vibrate & kicking up enormous dust storms. I may even be able to open the windows, since there's some rain in the forecast which should dampen down the dust even a bit more! And it will give my garden a bath, before everything is asphyxiated by the dust.

No plans this weekend ... a luxurious time to do just whatever! Busy in Toronto - Indy weekend & many community festivals ... so I think I will just stay home, go to the neighbourhood market, read & putter ...

@ChemGal - this health stuff sure is taking up a lot of your energy and time. Hopefully soon this will settle a bit for you, and you can get back to living the life you love. How's your garden doing lately?

@Tabitha - you said "repacking" - is there another trip coming up soon? I dug my daughter's tent out of the garage last weekend (it was her high school graduation gift!), as she's coming home at month end & wants to go camping for a few days. I was hopeful that the mice had not gotten into it - and thankfully, it was fine! So now it's aired out, and awaiting return of its owner!

Yeah, it's why I've given up.
The potato flowers look pretty. I haven't done much the last few days due to the smoke, Chemguy's watered.

I do have some other things going on. A friend coming for dinner tomorrow. I've been playing with my stick - exercises that are vein related but not stressful :) I was going to dance tonight, but they have no AC and use fans to blow outside air in, so am skipping that. I'm dropping into a Zumba class next week after I spoke to the owner to make sure they are aware of my health and they don't need a note. Hopefully the air quality will improve so I can go for a walk or something. I have a big break in my calendar with no medical appointments! I can't remember the last time I had such a large gap between them.

Yesterday Seelerman and I went picking strawberries at a local U-pick. Big, plentiful, ripe berries. I filled my first box in no time and emptied into a large plastic container. Picked another quart box -- emptied it. Felt myself slowing somewhat on my third. By the time I finished five boxes, I was panting and exhausted. Picked a few more to fill Seelerman's bigger container, and was almost too tired to carry my container out of the field. Seelerman took it from me part way back to the car. I still lagged behind him.
I'm concerned. I knew that I was getting weaker, that I can't do the things (like biking, climbing hills, etc.) that I once did, and that I tire easily - but I didn't know I was that weak. I've picked over a dozen boxes at a time before and still felt fresh enough to help my kids top theirs up.
Darn it!!! I've still got a lot of living to do. I'm not ready to sit in the recliner chair all day - although it does look inviting.
I have friends who are still active in their late eighties or their nineties.

Seeler, I have good days and bad. Sometimes it comes down to hours. It was less than a week ago you were without power. You had catching up to do once it came back on, that would probably lead to a recovery time of a few days for me after the extra chores. The temperature and air quality can make a difference too. Even without direct breathing issues, your oxygen levels can play a huge roll, and I would assume a hurricane could pick up quite a bit of stuff.

Enjoy the good times. The next time you might not have trouble at all. There might be a day when you can't. My guess is you will have the physical capabilities for a while to get that living done - it just doesn't need to be all at once :)

what chemgal said. And where is it written that we have to do this year what we were able to do 3 years ago?

Hear hear, Seeler!

Some pretty schmart people are busy working on finding ways of lengthening the productive years of our life right up to the end of our lives

Here's to our children and their children etc etc and their better lives because of humanity not giving in today
