Yes, I have 4 kids and my last child is 9 years younger then my other youngest. I was finished. hahahaha and then a surprise. It was a good thing to do. Kept us young and is why the difference in ages of grandchildren., Kimmio , in the Regina in a a few parts of the city they have sewer back up but the flooding is out in the small communities and the cottages.
The water is still rising and people are struggling . Some towns have evacuated but Manitoba now is in far worse shape from the
water flowing in from Saskatchewan.

I read that the waters mostly have retreated now but there's concern about more flooding? Is that right? I hope not!!

So, trying to do the math in my head I figured out that it's possible for some of your grandkids to be older than your kids! Is that the case? I guess it must be. I need to see a diagram to get my head around it. That would be wild!

I guess they could be but they are not ,Kimmio. My kids are 52,50,47.37 and my Grandchildren are 32.27,25,23.21,19 5 and 10months.

There is still flooding in the Qu'Appelle Vallley but not here. Manitoba is getting lots of our water.

One of my kids is allergic to fish. Once he asked about the crab in a dish (some things called crab are actually crab flavoured Pollock). He ate the meal because the waitress assured him it was REAL crab. She even went back to the kitchen to check. He had to go to emergency to have the reaction treated - it was crab flavored Pollock..

did you sue?

@KayTheCurler that's bad! I get slightly annoyed as it is that I have to check to see if it's imitation or not, as it is a common allergen I wish it had to be stated more upfront. I think grocery store food is a bit safer that way, although food recalls due to incorrect labeling are still common.
Since it took a while to hear back from the company I decided to check in with anaphylaxis Canada. I figured it would be easier than searching government pages, as I was thinking Health Canada. I got the info from them for the CFIA, so they have been informed, but I also told them there's a good possibility the label is correct.

I'll follow the steps until I know more - save some of the food (we froze some anyway) and will keep the container.
Since I've never had a really bad reaction, I'm slightly tempted to test this out with the dip. I won't, but maybe I can do a food challenge this time instead of another test :) It would have to be a decent sized serving though, I probably had a full 3 teaspoons before I felt anything. With the last fish reaction, it was more than a serving of salmon.

I should really trust my sense of smell. Fish always smelled 'heavy' to me. Like trying to breathe in smoggy, humid air, a bit of a tightening feeling around my chest. Crab gave the same sensation, but once it was mixed into the dish, it seemed fine. I even took a quick taste off of Chemguy's before mixing mine in to be sure. I've also been eating California rolls when I know it's not imitation crab, but I was also eating a fair bit of fish between the testing and having reactions other than the smell thing.

Kimmio - my sisters, brother and I are all close in age. But my mother's sister's family - not so.

Her oldest daughter - Helen, had two boys and was expecting her third. Her second daughter, Elsie, had a girl. She had two more in their teens and a nine year old. And she discovered she was pregnant in her mid-forties. When he son was born, he was already uncle to three children. Another nephew was born a month or so later, and another shortly thereafter. He was definitely in a different generation than his siblings and had more in common with his nephews and nieces.

I feel like a bit of a nut. But I feel like my health concerns are more deserving of me taking a more aggressive approach. I've tried doing the 'normal' thing, letting doctors take care of things while I just follow up as much as I can, it hasn't really been working too well for me.

I wanted to get things set up so that if I have issues IVing, I could go to the nearest hospital without going to the ER. I talked to them, they would be willing to work with me (no training though), and they aren't as busy as my current clinic, so I could walk-in/get a same day appointment if doing it at home failed. The issue - I need a doctor AT THAT HOSPITAL. Ugh

I am currently doing meet and greets, as my GP will be moving soon. At both of those, I brought up what I wanted, and they were both great and were working on referrals. Getting a doctor there is a problem, 2 referrals to 2 different areas of specialties were declined because the doctors weren't taking new patients. They also tried to pick specialists that tend to be less busy. The admin staff was also confused, and made an appointment with someone at my GP's clinic who is the same type of specialist, the admins didn't seem to understand why I was specifically looking for someone with hospital privileges, but we got that appointment cancelled.

I don't want to be waiting around forever, having referrals sent and denied. So I started calling around myself. This is where I think I come off a little looney, but so what :) I called the hospital, departments within the hospital, health link, the college of physicians & surgeons. No luck. I called the PCNs that cover multiple clinics, but they didn't know the info, so I started calling around nearby clinics. I found a GP who can see new patients who has hospital privileges at the nearby hospital! Haven't met him, called my clinic to get that going. The referral contact seemed happy and asked how I found out about this doctor. When I said I just starting calling the closest clinics, I'm sure she made a face like this :cautious:, but she's happy to pass the info on to the 3 GPs I've currently been dealing with.

Fingers crossed this works. I don't want the ER experience anymore. I want this in place before I take a break from my training sessions. I think just the added confidence of having this backup in place will improve my at home success rate. It will take away some of my nervousness, and being nervous leads to constricted veins and a hesitant hand.

Good evening everyone!

Crossing fingers for you ChemGal . . . hope this all works out for you. Hope this GP is a wonderful doctor and is more than happy to take you on as a patient.

Good morning everyone!

It is a wet, cool, overcast Friday morning here. Need a plan for indoor activity today . . . perhaps some housework, perhaps some reading, perhaps some jigsaw puzzling building, perhaps some playing on Wondercafe2.

How is everyone today? Any special weekend plans?

Weekend plans? 80th birthday party for my father and my uncle (Dad's brother-in-law) at my cousin's place tomorrow. Given Dad's condition, it's a bit bittersweet but it is rare to have a full gathering of our family (both Dad's side and his sister's) in the summer so will be a nice occasion. Usually we only have these get-togethers at Christmas and some years we don't have one at all.

Dad's having a eval done by his case manager at CCAC (Community Care Access Centre, the agencies that manage home and longterm care in Ontario) today. Only one of us can make it so the rest of us will get the report from him tomorrow.

Weather today is gorgeous but we're looking at chance of showers beginning at 40% tomorrow and rising to 60% with a risk of a thunderstorm by Sunday. Which is a bummer because with the party tomorrow, Sunday was supposed to be our kayaking day. Oh well, may have to stay home and watch the World Cup final (Go Germany!!!) instead.

Enjoy your family gathering to the fullest! hope your dads enjoys his special day and memories sustained for a good while. It will be good for him to connect with everyone, yes?
