Not just pines, conifers in general. Douglas Fir is one, I think. Maybe even the famous giant redwoods and sequoias.

Natural wildfires are actually a part of how a forest ecosystem functions. Even in a deciduous forest, they can help clear undergrowth to allow young trees some breathing room. As you say, it's been human presence and intervention that has turned them into disasters.

No actually I was wrong about the rhododendron balds. They occur on mountains that are devoid of large vegetation but the reason is unknown

I was thinking forest fires were involved but it seems not.
 
So..I made admin and mods aware. My spouse is quite ill

I and family bullied him into coming to ER yesterday. It's been a rough ride and we have a long road ahead of us.

I will pop in and read, but mentally exhausted right now.

Keep the chatter, the good spirits, the room's fire and snacks on.

I may just sit in the corner being quiet and doing a puzzle

Good morning! We remember those who have entered into an early wildfire season, (even if such fires help blueberries and some trees to grow). We think of those going through family health emergencies. We gather to remember other events, situations and persons too, as well as chat, support, and drink hot beverages. It is said people need some heat to become more refined ... said to be biblical expression of what goes on in the dark as ... alien saran chasm ... resembles abyss! Neurologically toxic ... epinephrine, base of ecstasy ... bottom line!

Then one is initiated into the process of consequence and what follows ... as love goes away! Moses experienced it in a place on a high! Always a mule tender ...
 
Good morning. We're connecting with Nanaimo friends who are in the area. Dog will be able to swim with her best friend then we'll have lunch together.
