We celebrated the 93rd Anniversary of the United Church of Canada. We sang some old hymns and some new ones and it was a good service.
Yep, their centennial is looming. And my grandfather was ordained not long after, forget the exact year.
Rev. John's sermon was on our sense of smell and the memories it can evoke. Ha ha turns out the Rev. and I have something in common, he mentioned as a kid he liked the smell of gasoline. Reminded me of when I was kid I'd roll down the car window when dad was getting gas because I loved the smell of gasoline. It was a passing phase though...these days the smell of lilacs when riding my bike ranks way above the smell of gasoline!
That must have been back in the olden days eh. Remember the uproar about the kids on some aboriginal reserve sniffing gas to get high?
