Noticing that Jae has found the centre of our attention by his interesting interjections. Thought maybe I would review the opening post and do some wondering about it. These two bits are near the centre of my reflections:
It is for freedom that Christ set us free?

Is it our season to recover what has been stolen from our children ?
That Christ set us free for freedom rests near the heart of my thinking. This sounds so splendid as words to share with others. It has been a little less than splendid to take up the freedom Christ makes available. I recall speaking my mind freely in late elementary and early junior high. As a result I suffered the rejection and discipline of my teachers. This for my refusal to conform to the coercive structures of the curriculum. Being born a Frisian I persisted in freedom and suffered the consequence. I was expelled before completing the ninth grade.

Over the years I have learned it is wise to keep my freedom undercover. In no way compromising it by submission and conformity to the expectations of diverse social structures. My seminary experience illustrates this, at least to some degree. I played by the rules as far as my ethical bias would permit. All the while exercising my freedom by diverse symbolic actions. I occupied a student lounge and set up a coffee shop. The administration and staff did all they could to prevent me. I prevailed. In two semesters I earned just over one thousand dollars, which I used as student aid for fellow students. The whole project was out of bounds according to the seminary's norms and standards. It was an act of freedom in the context of dense bureaucratic structure.

I am presently engaged in another such symbolic action. For just over a year I have been an active part of a congregational team in Winnipeg. I simply offered to serve them as their minister without requiring pay. This began on the first Sunday of lent. My metaphoric mind clearly conscious that my action was an expression of freedom. This just as Jesus journey to Jerusalem was an act of freedom. I knew by his example that such an expression of freedom entails retributive consequences. For the whole of this year, where I am clearly out of bounds specific to institutional norms and standards, I have not been approached by one voice representing the pastoral oversight of the larger church. For some reason, there is a reluctance to make the matter public. As it was in seminary.

When Jesus speaks of counting the cost and taking up the cross, he is talking about the choice of freedom in a context of authoritarian control. His freedom inspired persons to step out of bondage and into freedom. This incited the hostility of those vested in structures of control. We know well how the story goes. Jesus is killed but he is not silenced. He is speaking quiet and clear in our day. Sheep hear his voice and sing: "Freely, freely, you have received; freely, freely give. Go in my name and because you believe, others will know that I live." Goats are not so inclined.

What, then, are we to recover for our Children? I will say our children's imaginations are in deep bondage to the exploitive seekers of power. Let us give our best to recover their freedom. The first step being counting the cost and taking up the responsibility of our personal and collective freedom.

Once again a primitive twisting of scripture. I would suggest you consult some of the Jewish rabbis of old that actually understood the language and it's nuances. Back then it was understood that sex and gender we're complex. Of course I am sure you will require someone to do the digging for you. And then as always you will deflect, change the subject, or ignore as usual.

What about those men and women who deviate from gender roles in the Bible? The patriarch Jacob, for example, is clearly gendered female in comparison with his twin brother Esau. Esau is hairy, Jacob is smooth; Esau is a hunter, Jacob “stays in the tent” (which is where women stay) and cooks; Esau is favored by his father, Jacob by his mom. And yet Jacob is the chosen one who becomes Israel, who fathers a nation.

Of course, Jacob didn’t go on hormone therapy, but the way the Bible constructs his gender identity makes it very clear that, at least until his transformative nighttime wrestling match, he is gender non-conforming.

Likewise, Deborah the Judge, who performed a male societal role. Likewise, the beautiful young David in his “armor-carrier” relationships with Saul and Jonathan. (1 Sam. 16;12, 1 Sam. 18:1-3) Likewise the Apostle Paul, who rebelled against the most fundamental gender role of his time, fathering children, by becoming celibate. Likewise the pairs of female emissaries in the New Testament, Tryphaina and Tryphosa (Romans 16:12) and Euhodia and Syntyche (Phil. 4:1), who preached the gospel in ways usually reserved for men. On and on and on, the Bible presents heroic characters who vary from normative gender roles.

If the Bible is our guide, then God’s design for gender is a gigantic rainbow of variation, not a black-and-white conformity with sex.

Neither the pain of gender dysphoria nor the joy of living authentically as one’s true self are trivial matters. They are profoundly moral, religious ones.

On the one hand, if God loves human beings, then God cannot abide the pain of gender dysphoria. It is not real love to allow such harm to take place, because “love does no harm to its neighbor.” (Romans 13:10)

Philippians 4:1 doesn't mention Euhodia and Syntyche. Philippians 4:2 does...
Paul exhorts Euodia and Syntyche. He wants these two women to drop their differences. Both of them were Philippian church members. But there was a rift due to envy; there were disagreements. So Paul tells them to work together well, to settle their hostility.

Romans 13:10...
Let's be filled with the love that agrees with God's will. Then we'll engage in nothing which may cause ill to befall our neighbor. We'll avoid all the sins that are mentioned in the commandments. Our neighbor's the one who's near us. Any person in our vicinity with whom we've had dealings is our neighbor, and towards such a one, especially if they be of faith's household, we should show kindness, according to God's will. The Law's fulfilling is love. Let's work to measure up to this standard, and by God's grace we'll make some headway toward our goal.

George ...let me make this point....
This is not about friendly sparring in Sherwood Forest nor is it merely an academic difference of opinion on some topic or issue.
This is about the core personhood of my kids and how others will callously make light of their identity and in doing so demean them so badly. This sort of thing drives them toward suicide. I know, I live it. This sparring match is life or death for just one of the contestants. An unwilling contestant forced to fight for their life never knowing when the next battle will be or with what monster.
The suicide rates. 43% overall. Approaching 60% for kids in religious families.
Look up Leelah Alcorn.
I will give no quarter in this fight.
