Spring is very much on it's way here. I spent the afternoon out with some kids at a park. I just had a hoodie, no jacket and the sun felt warm. A fair bit of snow still though and lots of melted snow which lead to some wet feet. When I get home, I grabbed some fliers off the steps and saw 3 ladybugs hanging out on some leaves.

I'm taking a break from electronics for awhile. Catch you later!

Have fun! I wish I could do the same but it's hard when IT is your day job.

I am off to a conference next week so not sure how much I'll be around. It is my usual jaunt South, in Atlanta again (I've been going for almost 10 years and it has been to Atlanta 4 times in that period). Lots of ideas will be flying around and I can get some help with some issues I have so should be worth while.

And I may have my position filled. Interview this morning went well and the candidate seems good. Probably won't be able to make an offer until I get back but I'm feeling positive (but cautiously so, the last good contender we had backed out just as we were planning a followup meeting).

Good morning all. Glad to hear Seeler is on the mend, and ChemGal has connected with someone who shares her condition. March Break for me. And my son and his girlfriend come home for a quick visit on their way to somewhere else (skiing in Michigan). That is the beauty of living in Sault Ste. Marie: lots of people stop in on their way to somewhere else!

And another week unfolds before us - full of possibilities.

The reports of the weekend blizzard in the Maritimes & Nfld leave me shivering. Such a long winter this year. I'll throw some good big hardwood logs on the wonderhearth to send warmth to those whose muscles are aching from shovelling, and souls are tired of howling winds and flying snow. We are a hardly lot. Fortunately not tested with ravages of cyclones, as those of the South Pacific have been this week - devastation there.

My euchre club is coming here on Friday night, so tonight I've been organizing my menu of finger foods to enjoy as we gather & a light dessert for later :-) Will have to go shopping tomorrow & get my prep list organized. Then to perfect my recipe for Cosmopolitans - I think I'll serve that as the welcome cocktail to get the party started :-)

St. Patty's Day tomorrow - who's celebrating? I see jae has painted himself green.

I'm going to go to Canada Blooms in the morning - always nice to wander there amongst the flowers and gardens ... a little preview of spring!

Hope you are all keeping well.

There is a fully bloomed tree of cherry blossoms right outside my window. Looks like light pink popcorn! Daffodils are all coming up. Leaves are starting to come back on the trees. We've had rain the past few days. It was a little clearer today. I don't think we had any snow this winter. None that stuck. It was a very good winter, weather wise, out here. The second in a row. We're fortunate for that.

During the 2010 Olympics we were made fun of, however, because the cherry blossoms were already out in February. It might have been better if we weren't picked - to have had it out east instead. Sometimes I feel like I've missed out on the "real Canadian" experience. I remember being puzzled when visiting Alberta (not in winter) about why there were electrical outlets in parking stalls.

Apparently BC is about six to eight weeks ahead of schedule weather-wise while the east well...all we can say is "stay strong".

We had a really cold winter here in Ottawa and quite a bit of snow. My friend in Newfoundland (near Deer Lake) has about 15 feet of snow in her yard - I just can't imagine. My sis and bro in law are driving to Nova Scotia right now and I am a bit worried for them.

Tomorrow I am visiting with my Uncle from 7am to noon and then going out to St. Patrick's day celebrations at a pub with friends in the evening. Thursday I start a week of "holiday" from visiting my Uncle - I really underestimated the emotional toll the last few weeks have taken despite having taken a girls weekend and a weekend in NYC with Mr.Me. His daughter is in town for one more week so I thought it was a good time to take a break and take care of a few things.

speaking of pubs on St. Paddy's, I haven't had green beer for a long time :)

@Justme it doesn't seem to me we're that ahead of schedule with the weather- not detectibly - but maybe by a couple of weeks. It's pretty normal March weather. The temperature dips down at night still but maybe not as much as usual. We were really ahead of schedule in February on a couple of days. The cherry blossoms for the 2010 Winter Olympics were a freak occurrence, though. That was really early.

There's a Cherry Blossom Festival in April and some people are nervous that they'll be gone by then! If we get a couple of windy days, they might be.

Our deck is probably about four feet off the ground at the back steps. In January Seelerman propped the gate open so he could scoop the snow down the steps. As the snow got deeper he spreadd it out further from the house. Neevertheless, now when he scoops the deck, he has to take a run up-hill where the steps should go down. The deck is actually lower than the surface of the snow surrounding us. Except for feeding the birds we don't go out that door much in winter.
Our side door (to the driveway) is the one we use. Yesterday, when he opened the door the snow was three feet deep between us and the car. It drifts there.

So we have snow!

In a few weeks it will be gone. The province has started their annual river watch. Not much flooding expected this year. The snow, although abundant, has a low water content. And most of the snow has been in the southern and eastern regions, with less in the north. Our major rivers flow south and east. Unless we get some bad ice jams we should be ok.

Meanwhile, my cold/flu is handing on. I'm still coughing up phlym. I'm still miserable. Yesterday I tried to sweep the floor. Sweep the den - rest and catch my breath. Sweep the bedroom - rest. Sweep the livingroom - rest. Sweep the kitchen - rest. I did manage to peeel carrots and potatoes and get a nice roast in the oven. Seeelerman and I appreciated a good meal.

Today grandson is being dropped off for an hour - Seelergirl will pick him up here to take him for a routine doctor's appointment. I think I'll get dressed before he comes. Some days with the flu I haven't gotten dressed until after noon. Some days - not at all.

Seeler, many weeks later and I am still coughing... and having phlegm. Whatever that bug was, it was wicked. We nicknamed it "the plague" at the offices in the US, as it took people out who are never off sick (like me), for days. Then again, most of the IT crews are also running on empty, way too many hours of work, lots of stress, and so the probability of being knocked on our butt by a bug were higher...

I can't imagine the amount of snow you guys have. My son is considering moving down East for work, he isn't used to the snow and with his job he would be having to be out in it when others aren't. I imagine he will be seeking a different vehicle within a short-time if he does go.

I am looking forward to next week off.

My plan for a week to redo the bedroom did fall through as my husband is working the week that I scheduled off. On the other hand, The bedroom suite is on order, and the paint selections are in the final choices, and so, it will be a more relaxed redo. We also have agreement on other items, so I can get that done as well.

A month ago our dishwasher went (maybe just over a month). My husband suggested that we not replace it. (I think we had a discussion somewhere on one of these threads that dishwasher is more economical than handwashing, and you all corrected my old understanding). Anyhow, he has been washing dishes for a month... and dealing with piles of dishes. Sunday, we went and selected the dishwasher to replace the old one. So, that will also be happening when I am off (delayed due to when the one we selected comes on sale).

I also have booked my financial planning meeting that was cancelled at Christmas when my contact switched companies. The other person that I had picked to review data with has passed away unexpectedly. (Sadly, she was a woman at our church who became ill and died in her late 50's).

Finally, think that I am going to read a few books, and maybe do some gaming, true relaxation!

Good morning everyone!

seeler, I sure hope your recovery improves quickly and that you notice yourself feeling better each and every day. Those here that have had the "bug" have found that the chest (coughing, phlegm, etc. ) seem to linger for weeks and weeks.

I have the turkey neck bones ready to simmer on the stove for making my bone broth today. Doing some work for Income Tax preparation (have a few trips late in the fall I didn't tally up - drat - this year I promised myself I would do them as the trips came and passed instead of leaving them pile up) - I think I have one in October and one in December to do.), have some items on my "to do" list to comlete for preparation for our Annual Meeting on Sunday, and just some overall chores (laundry, etc.).

Let us know if you find a great read, Pinga :).

Have a great day everyone!

Got some lab word done today. Had someone for the first time who managed to draw blood from a spot I don't use! Yay for that! It's amazing the number of people who won't even look for a different spot. I'm going to attempt to venture into the backyard. It's fairly warm today, but we'll see how much I can manage with all that melting snow.
We might be getting more later this week :(

Today, after grandson was picked up, Seelerman suggested that we drive over to Houlton, Maine, and pick up the second printing of my book. (I get it printed by an American company and UPS delivers it to a mailbox company there - much cheaper and faster than shipping it across the border.) It was a pleasant drive, just over an hour each way, and only a half hour total in the States. First time I've been out of the house in a week. I'm going to try pretending I feel better and see it that helps.
