I see there was a big geomagnetic storm today ... so there's apparently a good chance we'll see the Northern Lights way farther south than usual! So if you're up ... look outside to the northern horizon ... who know what wonders might await us!

Great news re the book, seeler

Thanks Pinga. Right now it just means that I again have boxes of books piled in my den - but I DO have them on hand and opportunities for promotion will occur. I am speaking to a UCW group in a rural pastoral charge next week. And I understand that there will be further exploration and attempts dive down to the Erubus this spring - and more publicity about the Franklin expedition.
The second printing of the book includes a map of the Canadian north - as well as correcting a few typos.

Apparently last night they were beautiful here . . . but I forgot!!!! Someone said they might be nice again tonight so I have a big note beside my chair "NORTHERN LIGHTS". Hopefully I remember to look at the note ha ha.

LOL - Now set an alarm clock too! Couldn't see anything from my home, not surprising as we have terrible light pollution in the GTA. But I did look out a few times in hopefulness. I saw a GORGEOUS photo from Yellowknife from 2 nights ago - huge curtain of red & green - so amazing!

Sigh. Not as far south as I am right now (Atlanta, Georgia). I'm down here for a huge conference put on by Microsoft Dynamics, the business solutions group at MS. Some decent sessions but I find I am not as "into it" as I was in the past. I may skip it next year unless I know there's something compelling being shown/announced. Conference "Celebration" is tonight with the band One Republic performing but I'm not sure I'll stay the whole night. I'm kind of tired.

It's been a tiring year for you Mendalla -lots going on, on many fronts. So sleep well! Hopefully a few nuggets of knowledge or inspiration will yet emerge from the conference. Is it warm in Atlanta? They've been having a weird winter too - some snow & ice - a bit more than usual I think.

Pretending to be better hasn't worked - I'm too exhausted to function. So - I saw my doctor today (scheduled B12 shot). She checked out my symptoms - viral infection, but lungs and brochial tubes clear. She gave a prescription for cough surpresent drops to put in my juice in the evening to allow me to sleep. Otherwise I'm to cough during the daytime and try to clear out my lungs.
She also reassured me that, while my Parkinsons symptoms are worse while I'm sick, I will get my strength back.
It was good to talk to her.
So another day of rest, fluids, Judge Judy, boredom. Thank goodness I can look forward to watching Canada Reads this afternoon. Is anybody else following along? This year I haven't read any of the five books they've considered - but now I'm thinking I would like to read all five.
My book club is looking at Margaret Laurence's Stone Angel - about an old woman. (we do a classic each year). Maybe 'And the Birds Rain Down' would be a good companion book since it also deals with aging.

So last night was our euchre night modelled off of Carolla 's monthly euchre night.
It is fun how all the people are just weaving and welcoming each other from different sections of my life.
One is myst's sister who myst introduced me to when she moved to this area.
One is my best friend from grade 5 to grade 11, who I had reacquainted with recently
One is the ex-wife of my husband's friend from high school to now... she & I became friends and get together for movies.
One is my church friend, and fellow church school teacher & good buddy
One is her good friend and mine who goes to another c
One planning to come is a co-worker who has been in Florida through the winter.
One is a good friend kinda through church but more just through our common attitudes.
Another possible moved back to town and was a choir director for us..

We need 8, haven't had 8 yet, but, hoping to get there next month.
Last night we had 6, so 2 sat out, served drinks food, laughed, and, then swapped in every so often.

My friend, from school brought an appetizer.
One church friend brought licorice all sorts as you can't play euchre with out them, or so her husband said.

I had cosmopolitans, and bought new funky martini glasses, and a shaker.
Also... had a variety of fruit (for the cosmos or just nibbling on), salty treats, sweet treats (ju-jube, mini-eggs)
Also had a non-alcoholic beverage

It was funny to see the reaction to the drinks. I love drinks where I know what I am drinking...ie lttle mix, lots of booze.

It is also fun to see how the group is bonding, laughing, sharing stories and doing self-care. These are all good women and so awesome to be a part of it. It is good for my soul to laugh and joke about items. I also find it isn't a lot of work. Now, it could be.... and there are things that I would do differently if I was at home, but, really....I left work at 5. Hit the liquor store, home sense (shaker), bay (glasses), bulk store (snacks), grocery store (fruit & drinks)... got home by 6pm, re-arranged furniture, set out snacks, got stuff ready for drinks, tidied up a bit, setup card tables, and was sitting down ready for them at 7:15pm. Not bad.

I'm thankful to @Carolla for her suggestion and giving me the background on it.

Gee - I'd love to join you for euchre. I haven't played it in years - its not a Maritimes game - but I remember it from my Ontario years and it was fun. And to enjoy the company of good friends - what more could you ask for. I'm glad to see you are feeling better.
I'm officially declaring myself well. Yesterday I went bowling. Managed a strike in my first string and bowled my average. And not too below average on the other two. It was good to be out again.
I'm expecting a friend to drop around this afternoon. She promised to drop off Margaret Laurence's 'Stone Angel' for me. I hope that she'll have time to visit.
Then church tomorrow. I'm reading the scripture. I like the reading from Jeremiah about the New Covenant written on our hearts.

When I first start moving I hack like I am coughing up a long. Sadly, my bladder control has taken a beating from a month or hard coughing.

Ad part of that coughing I will generally cough up a bunch of loose phlegm. It tells me bug effects are still there and there is a reason for the coughing.

It will pass.

Seeler, i would welcome you to a game should you be here

I am glad you will be able to participate in church tomorrow

It is a rainy, curl up and read a book day

It was fun to read about your euchre group pinga! Sounds like a great bunch of women ... and yes, that weaving & welcoming & laughter is so wonderful - it does my spirit good to have such a monthly infusion! You're amazing to have worked til 5 and welcomed everyone to such an organized space only 2 hours later!!

My group met last night too - I'm sure the neighbours appreciated that all the windows were closed, because there was a LOT of noise!! We had two "subs" with us last night, as one of our regulars is in Florida & another is in Paris - so we took pics & instagrammed them about what fun, food, drinks we were having. We got back a photo of a deserted beach at sunset - which we all declared to be MUCH TOO BORING!! LOL! My cards were TERRIBLE - worst ever I think!!

That coughing bug thing is just not going away easily or quickly for a lot of folks this year - a number of my friends & colleagues are similarly afflicted. So take some time with your feet up :barefoot:

One of the co-workers who went to Atlanta with me had it well over a month ago and was still having the odd coughing fit. My wife, too, but she's prone to chronic coughs much as I am prone to sinus trouble so that didn't register with me as anything unusual.

Pinga - Bladder control? Coughing up phlegm? We've could be twins (or had the same bug). But it will pass.
