where did it come from is the question. could there be more.
Centipedes eat other insects, such as silverfish or spiders. Maybe it has been doing a good job?
I don't know, is a silverfish that big?
They did completely renovate the next apt ..new floors, new kitchen, new bathrooms etc....so maybe from their renovations but not sure.
Edit: just noticed you said centipede not silverfish.

odds are it was happy eating bugs from rotten kitchen cupboards, etc. now they aren't there, and it has moved to yours looking for food.

Well her cupboards weren't rotten, they were just those ugly 70s European cupboards, most of us have the new style now, but she was there for 17 years. But maybe, they did like the old style press board cupboards, lol.

Re: Toastmasters

I belonged to the spinoff group, International Toastmistress Clubs, in the early 80's. It was both fun and educational. I have never been good at speaking off the cuff but I learned how to read in public and give a prepared speech.

Toastmasters was starting to go co-ed at the time but they had very few women participating. The ITC (all woman) groups were gentler in their approach and suited me better.

ITC also attempted to go co-ed and rebranded itself as International Training in Communication. I think this effort pretty much flopped.

You would enjoy Toastmasters I expect.

I was also part of ITC in the late 80's. It was International Training in Communication when I was in it. We had a great group and I learned a lot.
Did you ever have any men in your group? We met a couple of guys from a club in northern Ontario at one of the regional gatherings.

Toastmasters gradually started being more intentional about welcoming women. Not sure when they went officially co-ed but some of the old guard wasn't happy initially.

We did have men. In fact it may have been close to 50/50. It's hard to remember that far back in time.

I really enjoyed my time in ITC.

Love from today when this nice gent kept on bringing me his stick and disappearing into the deep snow

Hang in there and if needed, let your fam and friends and minions (everyone could use a minion or three) do the heavy lifting

Good morning! Snow and reading, catching up on work backlogs, centipedes and toastmasters/mistresses, dogs and sticks, and everything else that happens in the day; we bring it with us to the Coffee Cart in the Room. Let us join in the conversation, deepen the community ties, and have a mug or cup (or more) of warm beverages. All is ready, come and get it.

Is conversation restricted to narrow, threads with coverage that becomes patchy? Is that open to invasion by conviction that I should receive more than the neighbor regardless of the pathology inflicted?

Yah, as the yah-jahs say in flaming outbursts ... charisma is the best energy and thus sinking intelligence in the face of brutal energy as the empire has it fragile threads consumed by cross-fire ... so we depart in the demonstration of battle worthiness ... are demonstrations shared by Gods, heroes and demons as root words ... put them in a Bauchi ... everything toasted ...

It looks like we got the forecasted snow overnight. I'm declaring a snow day for myself. (If it wasn't snow, I'd find another name) I have nowhere to go. The last two days were full and a book and knitting are calling my name. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The book is "The Taster" by V.S Alexander. This is the third book I've read by this author and likely not my last. It is about a woman who became a food taster for Hitler.
Sounds like a good book choice. I have accepted defeat and merely scroll with my phone. Medical folks are interrupting g frequently - or have me waiting for the next thing to happen.. Today I may get released from cords and tubing. And fally able to move more than two steps. Ct scan coming up so docs can tell if their plan worked. .

Good morning! How is everyone? Friday has arrived, the weekend is coming. For being released from tubes and cords, and find some freedom of motion, and for all the other topics that will pop up, the Coffee Cart is ready to host your conversations. All is ready-- coffee brewed, tea water hot, snacks nicely arranged. Come on in in join in!

Yawn. I am on Central time for the next two days so was up before 6 local time. Strong black tea is needed. Costa Rica today. Going to a rainforest reserve. Early bedtime tonight since we want to stay on Eastern Time biologically rather than seesawing.

Good morning. The weather is warming so the winter wonderland we now have will melt away. There is a freezing rain warning right now. Oh joy. We have lunch plans with friends. The local university has a culinary program that operates a small restaurant. The university was closed the last two days. Here's hoping it is open and the roads are good.

Good morning all. Our family is marveling at coincidences today. My sister-in-law sent a picture via email that my husband and most of his brothers and sisters had never seen. It seemed to be from a newspaper clipping and featured his grandmother in 1917, with 11 children gathered around her, and shortly after her husband's death. My husband's dad was the baby...only a year and a half at the time. We all wonder...how did she do it? How did she manage to feed and clothe and care for her large family on her own? I shared the picture with my kids and they were fascinated too. Also...today is my husband's dad's birthday,(never met him, died in 1967) and also the pictured widow's husband's birthday as well. That's the coincidence part. Do any of you walk down memory lane with some old family photos? Another thread talks about decluttering, but maybe we need to be mindful about keeping snippets of family history. They are not part of any clutter, but can be inspirational.

Well lunch has been cancelled for today. I'll use the time to hopefully finish my great book. Maybe I'll even finish a sock.

Nancy that is cool. My aunt recently sent some old family photos. They are quite a treasure
