That area of the country @KayTheCurler is beautiful. I'm glad we were able to visit last year. I wish we could have gone to that park.

I dug out my old Kobo last night and got it set up. I was hoping to be able to use it to borrow library books on occasion. Sadly, it doesn't have the Overdrive software. Ah well, it still gives me access to tons of books so I can use it for bedtime reading, reading outside or waiting room reading etc.
When we had a Kobo, I had to use Adobe Digital Editions on my computer to transfer Overdrive books to the Kobo. Bit too complicated so once our last Kobo packed it in (I found they had a rather short life) we switched to using a tablet with the Overdrive (now My Libby) app installed. I do miss the eInk screen though. Nice for reading even compared to current LCD tech in tablets.

I like the lightness of the Kobo for reading. I also like the screen. It makes it good for reading outside. This was my second Kobo and I didn't like it as well as the first. Now that I see it again, I don't know what the issue was. The good news is I bought some books back then that I look forward to re-reading.

We have a new mayor in Toronto. Olivia Chow.

There were 102 names on the ballot. The candidate who finished in last place got 27 votes.

Molly the Dog received several hundred votes. She and her human ran on a platform of a more dog-friendly city with less salt on the roads. The human's name appeared on the ballot.

So I stepped out the door of my office after work to have my olfactory system assaulted by the wonderful stench of burning trees. Yep, the smoke is hitting Southwestern Ontario again. And much worse than the last time. Might persist a couple days, too, per The London Free Press.

Good morning! Trips to take grandchildren home, or deliver crafts for sale, unexpected experiences in restaurants, yet with good food, finding Kobos with books worth re-reading, a new mayor for Toronto, and smoke on the water in the air, lots going on and lots to chat about. The Coffee Cart is ready, coffee is fresh and tea water is near to boiling, cushions are fluffed and comfy. Come on in and join in!

There is an element in vapours from trees that simulate hormones that trees use to protect themselves ... something like a smoke lodge, sauna, or other sweat meant to cleanse naivete about the heat that surrounds bosses ... this can erupt!

The globe smoulders from the lies told and myths misinformed ... borderline conditions are approached ... Ste UI π idee approaches ... humanitees rest?

A singular sol might ask: "What is virtue?" That's the missing linx ...

When you go into relief (back off) and observe humanity ... it is a sad mess and thus source of sad songs ... so humanity does have a reason to be ...

Is that out there to those on the in's? May resemble a smoker ... place for hams!

Imagine biblical tumble of swine ...

The smell is not as obvious this morning but still there. Air quality is already at a 6 (lower is better, 10+ is worst). Oh well, I am in a windowless office with decent (not great, but decent) HVAC though I am not sure what kind of filtration it has. Worse comes to worst, there's a room full of oxygen concentrators not far from my office.

I hope you feel better soon @Mrs.Anteater

We have a clear sunny day here so far. Thankfully the fire near us is under control. Smoky air is no fun.

I had a busy day yesterday and a visit to my sister Monday. Someone spilled a load of fish guts on the highway Monday. Thankfully it got cleaned up quickly. I could still smell it when I drove by yesterday. It must have been awful when it was fresh. The comments section on FB though was hysterical. Lots of funny comments.

Today will be quieter. FB_IMG_1687964294407.jpg

Love the hair, hilarious!

I hope it doesn't hit you too hard @Mrs.Anteater. I've been absent for awhile...no particular reason. Today, I'm feeling the very opposite of Bette's energizer bunny approach to life. Husband had hernia surgery yesterday. So today is just lay low and help out when I can. Son came from Sudbury to help out too. Husband had decided that this surgery was going to kill him. He put it off for years, dissolved in tears on occasion, and wrote farewell letters to everyone. Well, he's alive and well. He's doing surprisingly well too, not requiring too many painkillers.

That's in my future, too. Probably later this year. I am seeing the surgeon for a followup consultation after my vacation and will probably ask to get it scheduled. It is bothering me just enough to want things fixed, though not enough to be urgent.

Seriously? There aren't too many operations more routine than this one. My surgeon even has a clinic outside the hospital where he does them (part of an attempt to reduce waiting lists at LHSC). There's a lot of surgeries more worrisome than hernias unless it is a bad one.

Now, that said, the lead singer of American metal band Five Finger Death Punch somehow ended up with a triple hernia  and their summer tour, including several dates opening for metal legends Metallica, has pretty much been scuttled because of his recovery time.
