I need to get more control over these ups and downs. I think my physical symptoms were just dragging me down too much. Things are looking better - a non-heath related social group thing tonight, an exercise class tomorrow, and then on Friday a massage (nearby!!!). I think the RMT and I might become friends, I'm going to show up early to hang out with her and her kids. It's kind of an odd way to meet someone, but she could use some adult company and I could just use company :)

Good morning folks.
It's a rainy day here. I've had a reasonable week. Had some fun out with old friends last night, but the place was too loud to talk. Won't pick that location again. It was just a bad night to pick as was bingo night.

I am thankful for being able to breathe the air around me, for water in the shower, for heating units on cold damp days, and having a job.
I am thankful for you in this room, for your sharing of your joys and frusrations and your patience as I share mine.

May you have a great day.

I am thankful I am able to walk, talk, hear, see, think, laugh, cry, and a whole lot more . . . and I too, Pinga, am thankful for this room, and the friendships that are found here.

Banana muffins . . . sounds heavenly.

I was out and about for a bit this morning. Yesterday was one of those days where we had snow and melting on the roads and other spaces. This morning the roads were awful and parking lots of stores and business were extremely slippery and icy. I hate this time of year as it is so dangerous, especially for the elderly and those physically challenged (like my "baby" :)).

Doing some chores at home . . . cooking lunch, making soup, catching up with friends on the phone, doing some computer and book work . . . I'm not going anywhere for the rest of the day unless I have to.

4 days the weather person had said snow. None yet for which I am grateful. Stay in Beloved, if you can.

Oh no! Today is even worse! It rained in the night . . . and froze this morning . . . sidewalks and parking lots are more treacherous . . . roads have been salted/sanded so they are turning to slush. As the day goes on it is supposed to get colder, with more snow . . . so will be even worse as the day goes on. Daughter will have to stay in today, and possibly even tomorrow, unless her Dad takes her out :).

This is going to make for the start of an awful winter. I feel so bad for seniors and those who have challenges getting around.

So far it's been good here. Despite a few snowfalls, we haven't yet experienced 'first' snowfall driving conditions. It's been a pretty warm fall so far.

Good day today. I was able to walk in sunshine (sorry Beloved! Be careful on that ice!!) to a local hotel where we had a Best Practice Day on Suicide and Violence Risk Assessment. We started with a speaker from an organization called Cameron Helps http://wptheme.cameronhelps.ca/ - founded by a dad whose 19year old suicided about 10 years ago. Then two keynote speakers took up the morning - excellent presentations with good use-able material. Afternoon noon workshops to formulate action plans for implementation what we'd learned this morning. So all in all - an excellent day, despite a topic that many might consider depressing.

Tomorrow's "The Prayer Buffet" - I just talked with our main facilitator & it's all shaping up wonderfully. Will tell you about it later in the weekend :-) So I have some food prep to do tonight ... better step away from this keyboard!!

@Carolla have you heard of DBT? It has really brought my suicidality way down. If you can get the person to buy-in it really has the chance to transform lives. About a fourth of the skills are "emergency" skills to prevent people from "making the situation worse". Your conference sounds like it was really good and I thank you for being interested in it.

I'm also looking forward to hearing about your Prayer Buffet.

I had an interesting day today....up early again, but for a good reason - my husband "won" a spot on the local morning TV show to be in a "money machine" (essentially a plastic phone booth with a high speed fan that blows money all around). He had to trap the money and feed it into a very narrow slot into a box - everything that he got in the box in 30 seconds he got to keep. He did pretty well - catching $380. He actually got a lot of bills in the box but as luck had it they were mostly of small denominations (the person after him got about the same number and got more than three times the $). It was a really fun experience though and he got to do a shout-out to my 90 year-old Aunt and she was apparently very thrilled by that. Last week I was the fourth caller (the first three get on). Thursday morning he was "cranky" and didn't want to wait to see if his name was called but I persevered and he waited and his name was called - so I keep telling him that the moral of the story is that he should listen to his wife :)

We also signed the contract to begin our condo renovations so the money comes at an excellent time!

The forecast is for 10cms of snow for Remembrance Day in Ottawa - yuck.

@Justme - yes - for sure DBT is a good regime, glad to hear it was so helpful to you! Sometimes we who see folks in hospital during acute stages are never aware of the long term outcomes for them - so I always appreciate hearing what people have found helpful (and not helpful, for that matter!)

I saw one of those money machines at the Home Show - it was only blowing around Canadian Tire money tho :-) Still lots of fun to watch! Good on him and exciting to be starting some reno's on your condo. Hope that all goes well for you.

Yay to Justme family windfall!

What is DBT, Carolla or Justme?

Cooler temperatures here now . . . -13 right now - only the start of a long cold winter.

Greetings all!

Thinking of those with busy schedules, working, travelling . . . also those with health issues that are causing grief . . . also those who are lonely, sad, or depressed . . . those that are rejoicing with blessings . . . and of course - all the Roomies!

Thankful my hubby took me to the grocery store this morning. The main roads aren't bad, but the sidewalks and parking lots and back alleys are awful!!!! I'm not going anywhere for the rest of the day, and told daughter she had to stay home too :). Why, I think I am even going to make hubby drive us to church tomorrow. Again, the main roads are okay, so it is not the driving, but rather trying to get daughter in and out of her apartment, and in and out of the church.

Going to try and finish off kitchen cupboards - have 4 left to do. And get some other chores done.

What are you up to today?

Was just watching a story on the weather on CBC Newsnet. Apparently the typhoon that is current moving past Japan is messing with the jetstreams, resulting in low temperatures from the Rockies to, roughly, Western Quebec. The coasts are supposed to remain seasonal, though.

I think it's just giving us seasonal weather here. It was pretty nice for the end of Oct, beginning of Nov. Today is more typical for this time of year.
