I'm definitely doing better again. I'm sore after my two exercise classes yesterday, although nothing abnormally bad, but I think my arms are bad enough to put me on that attack border. I still managed to do quite a bit today though. I better get some sleep before I push it just a little too far :)
Hopefully I can have a productive weekend! If I'm not around much, take it as a good sign :)

Tabitha - let me feed your cats, make you a hot drink, and tuck a colourful afghan around you. There - do you feel better? Just take it easy for a few days.
We got our flu shots earlier this week. Fortunately I never (so far) get a reaction. Not even a sore arm. And hopefully they will keep us well this fall and winter.
I'm feeling frustrated today. My books were shipped from the publisher earlier in the week - five boxes. According to the UPS tracking they were together until sometime Wednesday when they must have been put on separate trucks. Four large boxes arrived Friday morning in Houlton, Maine, where I have arranged to pick them up, The fifty, much smaller, box is still in transit - a different route with eight and ten hour lay-overs in some places. We won't be able to drive over and pick them all up in one trip until Monday. I know, three days aren't going to make a lot of difference - but I do want to get them out so people can start reading, and talking - and I can start arranging the next job - promotion.
There was a nice article in September 22 McLean's magazine about finding the Erebus. Only one point I disagree with and no evidence found to date to prove either - the article says that the officers and men wintered on King William Island. Anything I have read before this would indicate that they spent winters on their ships. The ships were ice-bound over 20 miles from shore (according to the only written evidence found to date). There was practically no food available in winter on the island, and no wood on the island for building shelter. Supplies from the ships would have had to be man-hauled by sled over the ice. Winters were severe. On board the ships they would have had food, shelter, and a bit of warmth. I don't doubt that they battened down on the ships and rarely, if ever, ventured to shore during the winter.

wow I think that is quick for your books. Wishing you success as a published author! May you have many sales.

and thanks for the tea and afghan. I'm still feeling pretty miserable.

hope you'll be feeling better soon Tabitha - must be those germy kids you're hanging around with! ;) Maybe seeler will slip you an advance copy of her book to keep you occupied! And BTW - happy OT month!

Seeler - I bet you can't wait to get those books into your own hands! Must be very exciting for you. (As an aside Seeler - remember you & I chatted a while ago about Rev. Lena Medieros who was an intern at your church some years ago? She's back in my neighbourhood again & we shared a great cup of tea last week.)

This morning I was at a Presbytery workshop introducing Fresh Expressions - a strategy being adopted by my Presbytery for mission development. Lots of interest in it - last Saturday there were about 45 people present, and today about 50 - so that's a pretty good turnout.

Seeler - can we order a book from you? Or do you prefer we order through Amazon. com?

Beloved, you could order from me. I'm not sure of the price yet. When I pick up my order in Maine, I'll have to do some calculating. I need to at least break even for expenses. Not counting in the time involved. It will be somewhere between $10 and $20. And postage for me to mail it to you. I'm not sure how it works out ordering through Amazon.com and paying the exchange and shipping. Send me a private message and we'll work something out.

Carolla - I'll be supplying at Lana's last pastoral charge in NB for the next two weeks (that is if they have me back after my post Ottawa shootings sermon this week). Say Hello from me when you see her again.

Yes, it will be an exciting, affirming day to have my book in my hands. I just hope that others enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it and that they think it worth the read.

I am considerably better today. I'm eating and able to be up for more than an hour. I actually slipped out and got my hair cut-only coughing a few times. The risk for me when I get a cold is that it ends up in my lungs. I may have nipped this one soon enough. I did the right thing by not going to Presbytery and just resting.

Another day or so should do the trick.

This morning I'm off to lead worship - say a little prayer for me. These are good, faithful people (if on the conservative side). They deserve the best -- and they get me. I think that Seelerman is coming and will do the driving -- but I don't expect him to sit through two services. Maybe he'll just drive around a bit and observe the lakeshore (cottage country).

Wishing you a wonderful service today, Seeler. Also, exciting times with the book. Keep us posted.

Tabitha & Carolla, and others. Happy OT month1 Tabitha, hope you are feeling better soon.

It's a lovely day, so whisk down to Boston with me. Enjoy the bufffet. Have a fresh made omelette or pancake, or enjoy the muesli with me. There are lots of other things, but, I am good with some bacon and scrambled eggs.

My services went well today. Seelerman attended both and didn't seem bored. My only problem was that with him driving I didn't need my keys, so I left them in my purse under the pulpit at the first church and didn't notice it until I got to the second one. A kind person used her cell phone to reach someone from the first congregation (about 30 klms apart). Someone met us at that church on our way home and got my purse for me. Everybody was kind - said that similar things have happened to them.
I love these little rural churches - we sang Happy Birthday in each, and people shared news about others in the communities that needed prayers (operations, mourning). And one man explained to Seelerman after church that he was glad of the recent rains that would raise the water level in the river so he could take his barge over to an island and bring his cattle home for the winter (apparently he pastures them through the summer on the riches grasses that grow on these low lying islands). We are reminded how people live once we get outside the confines of the city.

After a week of fairly nice weather, it's gotten chillier and we're waiting for the snow to start falling today. The weatherman on one of the stations put up his lights yesterday, and complained that his fingers got really cold.
My energy level is lower again, probably did a bit too much stuff while feeling better. The cold isn't helping, I fell asleep on the couch with the fireplace going while waiting for the spaghetti squash to finish baking yesterday. I felt better after crawling into bed for about 20 minutes after dinner once I had warmed up.

My energy is rising for which I am grateful. Maybe I am aquiring some wisdom as I age-previously I would ppush through and get sicker. (Now I'm not completely well yet-and there is still the risk of lung infection) BUT I have a baby blanket packaged up and ready to mail and I have the binding more than 1/2 done on a quilt for my mother. I can get through a quiet day without napping (VS Friday when I slept more than I was awake).

Glad your services went well Seeler.

And just a reminder to folks-there is a secret Santa post over in Social if you want to participate

Thanks for that delicious Boston breakfast pinga! I was relieved to see there were no Boston baked beans ;) The harbour view was so relaxing. Or maybe I should say "hawber" view. Are you picking up any Bostonian accent? I can't detect it very well in your typing.

Sounds like a good day of preaching & ministering Seeler - I'm sure the churches appreciated your presence.

Nice to hear you're feeling better Tabitha. My neighbour got the "air canada flu" three weeks ago - i.e. sick after flying home from Paris - and is just now getting her energy back. So I think you were wise to take a day off to sleep. Go gently this week.

I spent much of the day in my garden - cutting things back for winter, weeding, edging, enjoying the brief sunshine & the gusty wind, the swirling falling leaves. Definitely a fall day today.

Garden . . . ? Garden . . . ? We have 3 inches of snow . . . I can't even see my garden :).
Not that much here thankfully, but the ground is pretty white :) I'm not sure how much fell, I think a fair bit probably melted.

I'm actually considering going out for a walk for some strange reason. I'm frustrated, trying to figure out exercise. There are various classes I have found and am interested in them, but it's been recommended I hold off for months before trying them out. If it was as warm as last week I would go for a walk for sure. It's not just the temperature holding me back, I'm wondering about going out alone, without my med kit. I would take my cell and emergency info, I just don't want to have to carry something on my arm or bring a backpack.
