My lights are up year round. I don't plug them in until advent. It's just so much easier taking care of them before the snow.
But I didn't do it today. I did some sewing then went for a bike ride down to the beach and along it

There are some around here that have them up year round. Mostly just the white lights, I really wanted some colour - ours are red and white, I think we'll back taking them down.

Good morning, wondercafe friends.

I'm up early, due to a 4am pickup to get to the airport. I decided to not have my car sitting in the parking garage in case family needed it for any reason.

So, why don't you join me at the airport for breakfast.
You should be able to wing virtually through check-in, customs & security clearance, and you will find me at the Molson's Pub drinking my coffee and looking out over the tarmac. I've verified that I can get early check-in at my destination hotel, so I won't be distracted, and we can just sit & visit.

Do you need more coffee? Some orange juice? There is lots available.
Do you like to people watch? The restaurant is pretty empty at this time of the morning, two couples visiting , a few business folks on their own, and another couple of probable business travellers.
(I'd recommend against the eggs/bacon this morning...not the best ..but, then again in a virtual world, food is always perfect!)

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it was too early. Before snowfall makes sense. When you have time makes sense.
It just caught me by surprise. I'm not ready to think 'Christmas' yet.
We usually get them up in early November and wait until the first Sunday in Advent (Nov. 30 this year) to put them on.

Where I am, I expect to get the first snowfall sometime between 31 Oct and 11 Nov. It's like a weather tradition (there have been years when I uncovered my pumpkin remnants in March...). So if lights are going to go up safely, and with minimal chance of frostbite while you fiddle, it's a good time to get them up now. (I have an understanding regard for those who simply leave them up year round, as well as those, like me, who have given up in despair.)

Good morning everyone. It's a frosty drizzly morning here. Lots of hot drinks and warm baking out for everyone for breakfast!

Edited to wave goodbye to Pinga's airplane!

Pinga - I'd be glad to join you for coffee. Then I have to run.
I've had my sister and husband visiting for four days. They left yesterday, after an eleven person gathering in my livingroom. Now I have to face everything that got neglected during that time, prepare for leading worship at a two-point charge for the next two Sundays, and get my book launched. I'm still wondering about what to do about the Amazon.com thingie. How much extra does it cost to have a book shipped from the States, does anyone know? I know that you've offered to pick up some when you are across the border. Thanks.

Made it to my destination and checked in. Now thinking a big drink of water and a quick unpack and a wander. For you virtual folks you can wander around Boston whilst I am in workshops

I didn't realize it at the time, but that night there were fireworks for Dawali, maybe we should have turned them on just for that night :)
I'm not in Christmas mode either, I was just surprised to see that a few of you seemed surprised! Putting up the lights goes along with winterizing the house in my mind. Our patio furniture got put away for winter at the same time.

Seelerman spent much of today (beautiful but cold) storing away the deck furniture and starting to take down the gazebo.

Now would anybody like an oatmeal raisin cookie and a glass of milk. It's almost bed time in the East.

I'm up earlier than I would like to be, although I guess it's after 7 now. I'll put out some fruit, tea, those egg muffins that seem popular on FB and pintrest (made them last night), pancakes, waffles. Now I'm going to go back to bed. :)

I have external ear pain, this started showing up after the chronic sore throats. Now with treatment, I'm starting to find I get them after attacks. I'm not 100% sure if I need to treat them or not, but based on when I get them I don't think I can treat them, although maybe if I got the attacks they wouldn't show up. I think they are just related to a high white blood cell count. I swell, my white blood cell count goes up and lymph node swells due to it, putting pressure on a nerve to my ear. Always one side. Kinda odd, as when I'm actually sick and those WBCs are actually there for a job they can help with, I very rarely get swollen lymph nodes.

Thanks for the great breakfast ChemGal. Our power went out unexpectedly about 7:30 this morning. I sat by the livingroom window and watched the sun rise over my friend's house. Beautiful view of the yellow/red sky seen through the stark trunks of the trees that so recently shed their leaves.
As it got light enough I was able to read the newspaper, then find some clothes to dress for a doctor's appointment (routine B12 shot. Then to the Coop for groceries and to the pharmacist for my flu shot and prescription refill. The power was back on when I got home at noon.
I don't have to go out this afternoon. I'm having sardines for lunch (and not worrying about my breath). Sardines are healthy food.

Unfortunately, I find when this hits it's just a wait it out, sometimes an NSAID helps. It's very different than an earache, it feels like there are waves of really hot liquid running through parts of my ear. At least I know the cause, for the first while the lymph node wasn't sticking out, it was all internal. Later on the position of it seemed to moved when this happened, and rubbing it would cause a new, intense wave so at least I knew it wasn't a direct problem with my ear.

I have a few medical appointments yesterday, a new doctor. He seemed good and I think the presciptions he wrote will really help me out, but I was concerned about a possible treatment he thinks will be helpful might be a trigger. He said he was familiar with HAE, and told me to take an epi-pen along to be safe. I really wish doctors would just acknowledge it when they aren't familiar with something.

Looks like I missed breakfast but it sounded delicious. Sorry about the continuing health difficulties Chemgal - though it must be a bit easier now that you have a diagnosis.

Seeler - I love sardines too. Actually the only thing better than sardines is fried herring (real herring, not the oversalted things you can sometimes buy nowadays for pickling). Kippers are a good substitute (but like herrings they are nowhere to be found).

Thanks Kay, it is easier. I think the issue is many hear 'angioedema' and they assume they know what it is, even though they tend to be aware of it as more of a symptom of something else, and assume the same treatments will work. Frustrating, and scary as I know my life may be in someone else's hands one day, relying on them to give the proper treatment.

Things have been a little rough for a bit over a week. I think I'm on the rebound though, hopefully after a decent sleep I'll be closer to normal tomorrow. Chemguy and I did some errands today, I felt really tired out but didn't have the feeling of 'crashing' as I describe it. After I checked out an exercise class. I'm really glad I went to watch, I think if I had tried it on a good day I would have overdone it, but by watching the entire thing I'll be more prepared about what limits to watch out for. It will be a challenge and looks more difficult to scale than what I had expected but I think as long as I pay a lot of attention to how hard I feel I'm working it will be ok. It's a really small class as well which should help - 3 people today.

Good Wednesday morning to you all. There's a chill in the air so I've started a little fire in the fireplace. I'm burning a bit of old drift wood that we picked up while beach-combing on the Bay of Chaleur this past summer so watch for some colour and sparks when the heat hits the embedded salt.

In a few minutes I'll be off to the church for the W@W (Wednesdays @ Wilmot). I wonder what the turn-out will be and what it will be like. Some weeks the clients seem cheerful, patient, friendly and appreciative. Other weeks we will get a few surly people, and on those days somehow it seems almost everyone else is grumpy or simply not interested in any inter-action. Different atmosphere from week to week. I like to see a few children. We provide a few toys and space for play and everybody seems to enjoy watching them. Of course I feel sorry for the families who have to depend upon charity to make ends meet, and the mothers who have to manage one or more preschoolers while walking or traveling by bus, lining up at our door until we open, then waiting again (with coffee and food provided), and then getting their small bag of non-perishables and their voucher for the nearby store, where they have to shop and then go home. Both parent and child(ren) must be exhausted by then.

Not a good Wednesday although if I had been up at a normal time, seeing your post would have been great to wake up to Seeler. I woke up recently, still half asleep and turned on the tv. Not good news to wake up to.

Keeping an eye on events on Parliament Hill. My support specialist is in Ottawa setting up a new location but he's a fair distance from the hill so I'm not worried about him. More worried about how much of an over-reaction there will be by both population and government.

Greetings everyone!

Some say Wednesday, some say "mid-week", some say "hump day", some say "Election Day".

Here it is election day for our city mayor and councillors. I did my civic duty and went and voted . . . I sure hope we have a good turnout.

I am having a technology challenging week (and just "in general" challening) . . . first of all wireless and internet weren't working here at home. Second, tried setting up some info for my daughter and was challenged by hotmail and itunes. Third, thought computer crashed at church when I was using it (IT guy came and just had to reset server). Fourth, sent a text meant for hubby to my SIL - good thing it was just an "ordinary" text LOL! Fifth, Went to vote, gave the woman my wrong address (I mixed up two of the numbers). Sixth, went to put some flowers at parents' graves in cemetery - missed the turnoff and had to retrace tracks. Think I am going to have an afternoon nap!!

Recent Ottawa shootings very sad . . . somehow, somewhere along the way some people have such disregard and lack of respect for life and for possessions of others . . . seems some feel they can take anything away from anyone.
