How sweet Crazyheart.

Merry Christmas all.
May you have a blessed day.

After a delightful Christmas Eve service, I went to first one house, then, picked up my spouse and son and went to a traditional gathering of friends. The youth are all getting older, and we only see each other once a year, but it is nice to catch up. My youngest & I stayed up too late, watching Die Hard

This morning is a nice quiet morning, I slept in as did youngest son. Even my spouse slept longer than usual.
Today will be new experiences, as I take Dad to a churches christmas dinner.

Life is full of change, and may you continue to find things to delight in, to experience, and may the things that matter most, continue to give you delight

We did some prep this morning, now on a break until lunch, then time to get the bird going. Family is supposed to start arriving after 2. Just realized that we are really down to only two "kids" and one of them is little M, who turns 18 in March so barely qualifies. My nephews are both over 18 and in college so we can't really treat them as kids anymore.

We're all invited to Seelergirl's place for Christmas dinner - Seelerman and I and a few others - about 10 around the table. Therefore I was surprised when she slipped into church this morning during the scripture reading. I saw her whispering to her Dad and him passing her his keys - then she was gone. During the singing of the next hymn he whispered to me "The power is out in her area. She's putting the turkey in our oven."
We expeccted to be on our way out to her place by now for the gift opening - instead we wait for her call that it's been restored (notice on the computer said 12:30 or 1:00 pm - it's past that now). Meanwhile the turkey cooks. pete is prepared to do potatoes and vegies on the barbeque. We WILL have dinner.
Tea time - Seelerman and I enjoyed crackers, smoked oysters, creamed cheese, and mincemeat tarts.
Windy but clear and bright with temperatures holding just below 0. No one will freeze unless it's a bigger problem than expected.

I love your daughter's creativity and am reminded, Christmas comes, whether we are ready or not, it comes.

Merry Christmas all. The Christmas Eve service at our church was especially beautiful last night. I got teared up for some reason, and it wasn't because of my back pain! The get-together at our house was festive and filling. Today...lots of love, presents, more food and we all trekked off to my husband's church (mass) as a family. A high school friend of mine sings at mass, and again I teared up when she sang "O Holy Night".

This next year will be a transition year in so many ways: politically, socially, family-wise. My daughter and grandson will be living in the USA. Our church family has many sick people right now...not sure if they will be with us next year. And then there's the effect Trump will have on the world stage. I just felt all that potential change as I enjoyed singing carols and gazing at the church decorations this year. Remembering to trust and have faith; and be the change I want to see. God bless you all.

I am thinking of friends from wondercafe's that we don't see. In particular, @Beloved is on my mind. If anyone is in touch with her, please wish her peace, love, hope & joy today and all days.

Shortly afteer I posted yesterday the electric powercame on (Thanks to the linemen who worked on Christmas day).
We bundled the roaster containing the turkey in towels and took it out to Seeleregirl's. Dinner was saved. WWe missed much of the gift-opening - the kids couldn't wait for our uncertain arrival - but we got to see their presents. Then they opened the ones we took out - and seemed pleased. Later I asked Grandson what was his favourite gift and he wisely told me that he doesn't pick favourites, he likes them all. Tactful boy.

Canada is a big country - different provinces do things differently. Boxing day in NB is a quiet day when people in service get the day off (or are working behind the scenes at times and a half to get ready for the sales - which start tomorrow. Seelerman and I stayed in our jammies until almost noon, when I heated up some pizza left from Christmas eve. Probably the only time I'll leave the house is to check my neighbour's place - she's away. It's a beautiful day - but icy and walking outside is dangerous for old or unsteady people. Once upon a time I'd be out skiing or hiking or just a walk about.

Not here, you wouldn't. We had serious freezing rain overnight, and everything's got a slick coating of ice. Temp is a couple of degrees below zero, and it's overcast, so it's not melting. Took the dogs across the street to play in neighbour's back yard so I could take her garbage out for her. Then tried a walk around the block (the shortest block possible .75 km, in good boots, with good treads) which didn't go so well; just about went A over T several times and Lucy slipped a couple of times (Buster 'can't'; he's simply too close to the ground and his body leg relationship doesn't really allow slipping; it would be like a tank sliding sideways). I think the malls are open and little else, it's very still around here, although it's a regular garbage day and I'm starting to hear the trucks around.

I slept in today after a late night with youngestson

Oldestson came home for our traditional Christmas brunch which we have shifted to today.

Youngestson is upstairs cooking bacon and eggs. Husband was up early prepping breakfast and tidying.

We too have ice and so today will be a day of quiet puzzling, i think

Was thankful that the freezing rain held off as long as it did. Imagine if it had arrived early on Christmas Day when so many people were out and about.

Maybe it is affecting those Boxing Day sales.

Anyone going to the new movies which have just come out? I want to see La La Land and Fences over the holiday season.

Hearing some places are closed today seems odd to me. I've gone boxing day shopping in multiple provinces in the past.
It's not really my thing, I hate crowds. Usually it was because relatives wanted to go, I always got the least out of everyone. A few years I wanted specific things not at a mall - that wasn't as bad. I think I've also worked boxing day in the past.
Today I'm happy to have a quiet day. Not sure if my parents are going to visit later or not.

Stores here have been legally able to open on Boxing Day for about 20 years. Back in the day many flaunted the law and opened illegally . . . not sure if the law is provincial or municipal.

Provincial. It is he retail business holidays act (or something like that).

I remember the days when Boxing Day was a full holiday similar to Christmas, not just a "bank holiday". It was actually kind of nice. Would get together with friends to share gifts or play games with family or friends. I get why it changed, but I wasn't really one of the ones clamouring for it.
