Trying to get food and house ready for a family get together tonight. People come around 4 and leave to go to church services; some stay and continue to eat and visit; some come back after church. This year the food is simple because my back still causes limitations. And the house will not be perfectly clean. Hope the warmth of our family love overcomes all that!

When it comes to housecleaning I just aim for presentable. With our family gatherings there is a dog involved so I always need to vacuum when they leave. Why bother vacuuming before they come? Ha ha.

Merry Christmas to everyone. May you find peace, happiness and blessings. And if anyone is alone, I'm sure someone will be around to talk on WC2 .

Actually, Council just voted to close down for Christmas Day. People need to be spending quality time with their families.

Kidding! :D

Sure hope Mendalla is joking  . . . some of us need to check in tomorrow to open our virtual Christmas gifts.

You are ahead of me paradox. I still have to wrap Seelerman's gifts and go shopping for tonight's dinner. I asked Seelerman what he would like - "it doesn't matter", "whatever", "pizza". I like to have something special - and no left-overs. I'm thinking some sort of seafood chowder, baked potato and espargus. Lots of good stuff for dessert.

Sounds good Tabitha.
I'm waiting for the travelling kid and family to arrive. Ham is smelling yummy. Our real gathering of the clan is tomorrow - minus one, unfortunately.

Spent another 3/4 hour in the labyrinth ahead of our 'family' christmas eve service at 7 tonight. Then home for an evening of last minute wrapping and yacking with daughter.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. The critters join in the greetings.

I've been inside all day ... nasty cold & I don't want to spread any germs around if I can help it! Even skipped church tonight.

Had a lovely skype chat with my dtr tonight - we read The Night Before Christmas together, as is our tradition. My annual batch of cinnamon buns is in the fridge, waiting to be baked in the morning. All is ready ... and so to bed.

Merry Christmas my friends.

Way too much food here as usual. Brother in law stayed for quite a while despite having a cold. Considering how little I see him that was nice to see. Nephew was being his usual terror self - started with the remote for all our lamps in the great room. He figured that was an excellent toy. Then had fun running in circles around the island between everyone, trying to open cabinets while someone held them shut and pushing random buttons on the dishwasher. Haha he's lots of fun. Good thing we have a big kitchen!

My sister actually brought a baby gate with her, but it was too narrow to be of any use. We have a bench that we use at the front door. He's not a climber so that worked well to keep him contained to the kitchen/great room and out of the hall to get to the rest of the house. I was surprised it worked as he could easily get on top of it but he just didn't try, would just run over to it on occassion lean over it to see if anything was going on and that was it.

Sister and her family left early to keep nephew on a reasonable schedule. Opened gifts with Chemguy's side of the family as none are coming tomorrow. Then all the women went for a drive to check out some of the neighbourhood Christmas lights. Chemguy can be a bit of a grinch when it comes to that. I guess it's kinda late for young families as about 10% of the lights were already off on the same blvd that goes nuts for Halloween.
We did a detour on the way home to check out the front of a house that does a huge display out back - they back onto a stormpond across from a busy road. I think I may have shared a picture of this house here along with another - sadly the other family moved. I don't see the front very often, don't think we've ever gone when it was fully lit - really great to see that.

It.s 7:00 am and still dark outside. Seelerman is still asleep and all is quiet. I'll just turn on the light above the nativity set, and in the old-fashioned village, and sit a spell, waiting for Seelerman before checking my sock to see what Santa broought.
Seelerboy phoned last evening - he was going out for dinner with a few friends - Christmas is much quieter in Korea.
Seelergirl and Pete, and Seelerman's niece met us at church last evening for a very nice service.
All is well!
I'm hoping it is the same at your house.
