The Ukrainian Orthodox Church switched to Gregorian Christmas, i.e. December 25, effective Christmas 2023 to break with the Russian Orthodox Church.

Then there must be a split because the Ukrainians here definitely celebrated on the 25th (I know a couple) per the CBC article.

In fact, if you Google for "Ukrainian Orthodox Church Christmas" most of the articles are about the switch.

I got the info from under the Al Jazeera vid I posted:
"The Ukranian Orthodox Church...says it will continue to celebrate Christmas on January 7th"

So how to square that?

I will have to talk to a Ukranian :3 Good thing I have one as a good friend.

I did wonder about that. At the same time, what DL said:

This was an area with lots of logging roads. There is a lot of wilderness here, and this is only a small portion. I'm saying that as an explanation, not an excuse. As DL said, it's the wild west too

Gawd no. I was strapped in and hanging on. This section was a little scary. I trust my cousin's driving so was okay.

We have close to 10 cm of snow left on the ground from two days ago. Expecting 10-20 ck today and tomorrow. Just heavy overcast here today. Completed first step in getting volunteer police record check today. Once it is processed, I will probably need to go into the local OPP office to get finger printed. Someone on the sex offenders list has the same birthdate as me. Going to work on our new years letter today since I did not finish it in time to be s Christmas letter.

Our dog is recovering well from her fight with some wild animal, probably a raccoon, two weeks ago.
