Once again it is dark when I arise, thanks to DST. When will that foolishness end??
Well, the legislative framework for ending the time change in Ontario. Unfortunately, (a) it puts us permanently on EDT which is not what I want, (b) it is conditional on neighbours like New York, Michigan, and Quebec doing it. Oh well, getting rid of the change matters more to me than which time we use, I think. So flipping disruptive.

Submitted a new story on Stories Space. Will share it in WonderArt once approved. It's a sequel to my earlier story "The Healer's Secret" that continues the main character's story. Sorcery and evil spirits vs. the healing power of love and caring. I'll let you guess who wins.

I don't understand why provinces thing daylight savings time is the way to go if we ditch the DST change. Alberta proposed that a few years ago. It would have been ridiculous. If we're staying on one time make it standard time.

Totally agreed, but also agree that we need to pick just one. I hate this. It makes the dog crazy, the cat crazy, me crazy. It's like a week or two of minor jet lag twice a year. On an interesting note, and a nod to London, Ontario, tried a craft beer, by Forked River Brewing Company, called "Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout" (sometimes I'm so intrigued, I can't resist). It's actually astonishingly nice, although a winter beer, not a summer one. Be a nice Xmas treat beer.

To be in line with other places. That part I do understand. I'm not sure why some other places started that.

I'm not entirely sure how much it matters which a province chooses to stick with, although it could, potentially eliminate a time zone or two if they picked different options?

And look at this: a world table about the status of DST. It's not a universal phenom, and think of how much easier communication would be if there were ZERO countries doing it. We'd always know what time it was in another time zone:

Daylight Saving Time Around the World 2022

In line with what other places?
In Ontario's case, the adjacent states and provinces, who we do much of our business with. The fact is, if every province and state does something different, we are back to the problem standard time was supposed to fix in the first place. It is bad enough trying to set up meetings with people in other time zones given some of the oddball things they do South of the border (e.g. when I was touring the Southwest, Arizona didn't do DST, but the Navajo Nation did and we spent a couple days on their land) without having to literally check based on state/province what they are using. The goal here needs to be everyone doing the same thing or it is going to be chaos.

I lived in the BC Peace for many years. The BC Peace doesn't do DST. I got phone calls from Ontario early in the morning because they didn't realize we were three hours behind them. I got phone calls late at night from telemarketers who thought we were in BC time zone because we had a 250 number. I get it. I also know it can be overcome.

What is the fascination with DST?

Good morning! I feel the need to start an internet petition for the ending of DST once and for all, to return to standard time and stay there, as God (or at least Sanford Fleming) intended. But it has been my observation that, except for saving the odd TV series slated for extinction, internet petitions are a waste of time and effort. So maybe we should write to our MPs... which is often another waste...anyway. happy Monday. All isready, come on in and join the crew at the Cart.

Yay to the new car Jayne. If you are like me, you will drive it sparingly these days! I tend to walk wherever I can (which is why I no longer buy 10kg bags of flour at the grocery store!!!)

and today....bought a new car. big deal for me. I have been driving a 2011 Nissan Sentra . it was a basic of basic models. The sentra only has 123000 km on it.
Good on you. Was just car shopping online a bit this weekend. I still have not replaced the Civic I gave to Little M. Have not needed to so far. However, looks I'm going to be required to be in office 3 days a week going forward so if that starts conflicting with Mrs. M's schedule, new car time will have arrived. Been discussing electric vs. ICE a bit with Mrs. M. Range won't be an issue since this will just be a daily driver for getting me to work and maybe some of our shopping trips, with our CRV used for distance drives, so an EV isn't out of the question.

yeah, i kinda went the opposite way. It is HARD to find a car these days. Market is really tight.
That's what I am hearing. At one point, my Honda dealer only had one 2022 Civic on their lot. That's why we discussing it now rather than waiting for "crunch time".

I'm getting near to that position. I'm definitely looking at a compact. And a standard transmission, before it goes the way of the dodo. I'm seriously considering a Mitsubishi Mirage.

Ugh I just don't get these doctors. Clinic today, patient without a mask, I asked the receptionist about policy she told me he had one on. Ummm? Maybe at one point he did but he just walked through the waiting room without one.
The doctor didn't have a mask on either and encouraged me to take mine off. No thanks.

There has been a blood collection tube shortage in AB for quite a while due to a worldwide shortage.
I didn't get my liver panel done, many people are forgoing a lot of testing right now.
Meet and great appointment, he wants my B12 and iron redone. Ok, that's a bit understandable as despite supplements it has been low at times, so it can affect dosing although I didn't think it was that important.
He also ordered a blood pregnancy test. Like I just had an MRI, pretty sure changes would be seen on that! Urine tests are also quite accurate and I'm also confident I am not pregnant, and not just in a meh I'm sure it's fine sort of way.

I really hope the doctor I remember is good with taking me on (not listed as taking new patients), and doesn't have any ridiculous policies.

Good news today. Mother will be discharged tomorrow back to her nursing home. Not sure if she never figured out her call bell, but once she figured out how to use her cell again, she called my siblings ten times to complain about the nurses and they had to call the unit to tell them that mother wants a glass of water……
So that sounds very much like her baseline.
