It does replace a minimum full time week based on hours and wage at least.$500/week is not much money.
It's not a lot but it's 500 more a week than I got when taking time for scans, biopsy, etc.

Actually it says $50 of the $500 will be taxes and you don’t get it if you get sick pay. I am yet to see if he will get it or not, his buddy told him he can’t apply until after the week is over. He gets about $1400 net every two weeks, so $900 would be a help. I to.d him to call his employer tomorrow to see if they would put in papers for EI, not sure what would give him more.Plus $500 a week.
Hmm, would you rather have nobody get any support or have a patchy system and advocating for fixing it together rather than dividing? It does replace a minimum full time week based on hours and wage at least.

It's still 500 a week, it's not extra taxes, it depends on a tax bracket.Actually it says $50 of the $500 will be taxes and you don’t get it if you get sick pay. I'm saying it's not nothing and is much more thsn what some of us got while quite ill. I'm not saying it's a bad thing it exists.Hmm, would you rather have nobody get any support or have a patchy system and advocating for fixing it together rather than dividing?

That's not my understanding at all. If someone owes more for their taxes then it won't be paid out. If someone has overpaid on their taxes it will. Ssme as a paycheque, some is partially withheld. It does mean waiting to file taxes for 2022 and getting the return for the last bit to be paid out if taxes were overpaid. It actually says in the application that they are keeping $50 for taxes that they won’t
pay out. Maybe they have learned from CERB that people just will spend it all.

That's my worry, too. I have never had a problem with losing glasses (sunglasses are another story) since they always have to be on my face.Since he doesn't need his glasses all the time, he is forever taking them off and leaving them...who knows where?
My dollar store glasses....Mendella...My husband went from wearing glasses all his life to now just needing the ones you buy at the dollar store! So, the discomfort might be worth it. Now there is a new problem though...Since he doesn't need his glasses all the time, he is forever taking them off and leaving them...who knows where? So, he has bought several dollar store glasses to leave everywhere!

Sigh. Wearing glasses right now, actually. My "fixed" left eye is still not enough to make up for my bad right eye for moderate and longer distances so I have to use my glasses when on computer or watching TV. OTOH, I can ditch them when I'm just eating, etc. around the house, which is an improvement. And it has also forced me to finally master administering eyedrops, something that has always been a struggle for me. 3 different drops, 2 of which are four times daily.
So Wiarton Willie apparently forecast and early spring. Not early enough, IMHO, if the current winter storm warning is anything to go by. 20-30 cm possible here in Southwestern Ontario. Too bad. The last couple days were actually fairly nice. Cold but sunny.
Yes, always interesting when it starts as rain and 'transitions' to snow. That provides a coating of ice under the snow, makes walking and driving more of a thrill ride than it otherwise would be.
