Plus $500 a week.
Actually it says $50 of the $500 will be taxes and you don’t get it if you get sick pay. I am yet to see if he will get it or not, his buddy told him he can’t apply until after the week is over. He gets about $1400 net every two weeks, so $900 would be a help. I to.d him to call his employer tomorrow to see if they would put in papers for EI, not sure what would give him more.

It does replace a minimum full time week based on hours and wage at least.
It's not a lot but it's 500 more a week than I got when taking time for scans, biopsy, etc.
Hmm, would you rather have nobody get any support or have a patchy system and advocating for fixing it together rather than dividing?

It's still 500 a week, it's not extra taxes, it depends on a tax bracket.
There csn be a delay with getting it. With 2 days sick pay I think another 3 days would have to be missed for the 1st week although I would have to carefully reread rules on that. Ie. 2 days sick pay and then 3 days more to get to the 50% of missed unpaid scheduled work.

I'm saying it's not nothing and is much more thsn what some of us got while quite ill. I'm not saying it's a bad thing it exists.

It actually says in the application that they are keeping $50 for taxes that they won’t
pay out. Maybe they have learned from CERB that people just will spend it all.
That's not my understanding at all. If someone owes more for their taxes then it won't be paid out. If someone has overpaid on their taxes it will. Ssme as a paycheque, some is partially withheld. It does mean waiting to file taxes for 2022 and getting the return for the last bit to be paid out if taxes were overpaid.

Good morning! As we continue to hold infected family and friends in our thoughts, and find hope in their beginning to recover, let us gather round the cart for warming beverages and conversation. All is ready.

Hi, crew. Just passing through again. Vision not the greatest yet, but there is a certain satisfaction in knowing that the eye that was my "bad eye" for years, even pre-cataract, is now my "good eye" if only until I get the other done. Have a follow-up today and again in a week. Will be booking the other eye at one of those visits. Back to listening to podcasts for now I think. I suspect if I stay on the computer for long, I'll be getting a headache. Later, alligators. :giggle:

$500/week is not much money.

Are you cognizant of how many people are on that level of income, or less? I know several that have worked hard all their life ... perhaps even bumped out early for efficiency! Sometimes some of the best resources go to waste that way ... it is the way of economy to support administration more often than not ... what administration demands is more moh neigh ... and to ignore where it comes from in a mortal sense (physically limited)!

Mendella...My husband went from wearing glasses all his life to now just needing the ones you buy at the dollar store! So, the discomfort might be worth it. Now there is a new problem though...Since he doesn't need his glasses all the time, he is forever taking them off and leaving them...who knows where? So, he has bought several dollar store glasses to leave everywhere!

That's my worry, too. I have never had a problem with losing glasses (sunglasses are another story) since they always have to be on my face.:nerd: If I really do get down to just reading glasses, I might have to do the "hanging on a chain around my neck" thing. Must ask my boss what he does. He's never had regular glasses but started using reading glasses not long ago.

Good morning! The losing of reading glasses can be frustrating for sure, when one really needs them. Hopefully coffee and/or tea will provide some serenity until we remember where we put them. The coffee cart is ready, help yourself.

Sigh. Wearing glasses right now, actually. My "fixed" left eye is still not enough to make up for my bad right eye for moderate and longer distances so I have to use my glasses when on computer or watching TV. OTOH, I can ditch them when I'm just eating, etc. around the house, which is an improvement. And it has also forced me to finally master administering eyedrops, something that has always been a struggle for me. 3 different drops, 2 of which are four times daily.

So Wiarton Willie apparently forecast and early spring. Not early enough, IMHO, if the current winter storm warning is anything to go by. 20-30 cm possible here in Southwestern Ontario. Too bad. The last couple days were actually fairly nice. Cold but sunny.

Yes, always interesting when it starts as rain and 'transitions' to snow. That provides a coating of ice under the snow, makes walking and driving more of a thrill ride than it otherwise would be.

My sister partakes in those type of glasses ... one pair often on top ... of her head! It is a captivating gleam ...

Even groundhogs suffer their ups and downs ...

Some folk deny slop ... thus they fall ... in disbelief that this could happen to an upright citizen? Everything needs a come down for humble reasons ... thus some of us from out-there! Makes for golden myth Ray sm! Unbelievable essence ... like that buzz in the neurological system ... unclear what it is really!

If in a really quiet place you can almost hear it ...
