i'm posting with Bell Wi-Fi Internet.
Response time is much better, and hoping that it is stable. It is also cheaper, and has almost double the max before throttling.
Fingers crossed.

Having an oximeter is a good idea. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought mine - I think it was about $20 - less than I feared. Most medical equipment seems to be very overpriced.
Yeah, I wish it was that cheap. Mine was the last one on the shelf of the local pharmacy and was $80.

Well, do you know what is quite difficult to get "off the shelf" these days? A good old modem.

My little house runs quite happily on a DSL connection (a re-seller, not Bell) through a modem into an ancient but functional router, the Apple Airport. No modems to be had anywhere in Barrie. Anyway, when I got home, frustrated, having tried Staples (north End), Canada Computers (south end), The Source (near downtown in old Allandale) and Best Buy (back to the north end), I called my ISP, a modem was shipped to me via UPS, arriving this afternoon. Very good service. The old modem has had to be rebooted three times since yesterday, but it's working at present, so I haven't tried swapping out old for new yet.

Seems to me that either you got ripped off, or it is a far fancier, electronic version than mine. Mine is exactly the same as the one my doc uses in his office, the local hospital use and my pulmonologist uses.

robots scan the posts and take them into their data set.
Bad robots look for personal data such as phone #'s or emails and sell them in bulk to spam artists.
Good robots make google and other search engines work.

Oh I am sure it isn’t worth more than $20. I saw them online at Costco for $30, but with Covid in the house already, I wasn’t going to wait. Walmart online had then for $60. I had no time to shop around.

Good morning! Happy Friday! As we ponder expensive medical equipment, rare computer equipment, and a myriad of other topics, let us gather round the coffee cart, and celebrate community. All is ready.

Robots make the need for humans in life obsolete ... and we created this all by ourselves without a Death Wish?

I can't imagine some extant input ... some rare sentient forces believe they will come out on top of this unconscious scheme (type of conspiracy as yet unseen) ... thus the word oblivious as something blind! What's anon (coming) is all sacred and hidden in word!

It leads to hope of escape into the abstract ... an indeterminate factor ... may manifest as something Eire ... some say weird blarney! Hard to unravel ...

DSL is dying tech, that's the problem. Even in rural areas, you can get better service for a similar price with wireless technologies. So the reason modems are hard to get is that there isn't much of a market so no one stocks them. No business I know will touch DSL anymore (we might have it for backup connections in a couple places, but not the primary). Too unreliable since the speed is dependent on distance from your central office. When they say 1 meg up and 6 meg down for DSL, those are maximums, not fixed ratings with any kind of guarantee. I was getting maybe half that in a suburban neighbourhood, which is why I switched to cable with Teksavvy as the provider (Rogers provides the cable to the street, but then the traffic gets routed on to Teksavvy's network). Next step would be some kind of fiber but the cable seems to be enough for us now that we don't have a gamer in the house.;)

I'm looking up old pictures for that story about our farm for the rural archives. I came across a picture of me and my pet cow...Pansy. Actually, all of our cows were pets.
Such a moooooving picture. Hope you milk it for all its worth. :ROFLMAO:

Okay, I'm leaving now. Rotten tomatoes are available at the door for ten cents each.

Good afternoon! Sunny but cold here in the Southwest of Ontario. Just chilling (oh Lord, here he goes again) inside.

Nice to see you back Mendalla! I may have missed it - but how did your eye surgery go - seems you're back online!

I'm in town, and there's just me, so DSL still works for me. I have enough bandwidth to watch Netflix seamlessly, and stream Youtube, even in the back of the house (quite a long way, and through some concrete block). And impressively, Teksavvy had a modem handy, "opened box", so cheap-ish, so I asked for UPS, and honest to Pete, it was here Thursday, and I called them Wednesday afternoon. Teksavvy continues to seriously impress me with their flexibility around customer needs and their customer service.

Very well indeed, but it was only one eye. One more to go.
My first thought was- good you have only two ( eyes).
My second thought was ( and this is something in German, not sure what it is called in English)- in German, a potato has many “ eyes”- which are those little bumps where it starts sprouting out.
In German, one also calls a corn on one’s foot a” chicken eye”.

We have another winter storm, the third or fourth in a row on a weekend. This time more than 24 hours of freezing rain and ice pellets. It started this morning and I barely made it into my street and on my driveway. 15-20 cm of ice pellets on top of two centimetres of ice. Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow and it is not going to stop until later in the morning turning into flurries. If the snowplough doesn’t come in time, I will be stuck. Not sure what I shall hope for.

Yes, we also talk about "eyes" on potatoes. If you're divvying up a sprouted potato to plant, you isolate the "eyes" and let the potato flesh dry for a day or so before you plant, "eye up".

However, the "eye name" for a corn on one's foot is a different one...

Hoping you stay safe Mrs.A - sounds like a brutal ice storm. I suspect there may be quite a few people unable to get safely to work in the morning.

Woke up to storm has stopped, the ice pellets have frozen together so I can walk over them, but I doubt its firm enough for my car. Plough has not been here yet. So I either get to work late or I go in tomorrow, depending on when the plough comes.
