It's not up to the store. It's the bank that issues the card that decides the tap limit, to my knowledge. And despite the noise the banks made, there were no changes in tap limits. I did notice that some vendors upgraded their technology to make their terminals more likely to be "tappable". The local beer store was notorious in that the "tap never worked". Even the employees knew it. They got new terminals near the beginning of the pandemic, and now they're much more reliable. My chiropractor got a new a terminal too, for the same reason.

This was what bothered me about having to wear hospital masks. I have a box of my own now so I don't have to switch inside.

Yes, I didn't understand that at the hospital. I walked in with my cloth mask, disinfected my hands, then touching that mask, I was handed a surgical mask, which I put on and adjusted without sanitizing my hands. From a masking/hygiene POV, don't know why they're not just asking people to put on a surgical mask over top of whatever they have on their face already. Or a weather-proof surgical mask dispenser outside, then sanitizer following.
 
I just came home from the vaccine clinic :-) They did ask if my fabric mask was 3 layers, and as it was not, they gave me a surgical mask. I did see some people who had simply added the surgical mask over their cloth mask, but I didn't think of that. It was fine tho.

I haven't been asked that yet. They may be able to make a judgement on how new it is based on the folds, etc. It doesn't matter to me anyway because I always put on a new one when I enter the health facility

Well, that's an interesting question. I have several masks with an option to add a filter layer - of fused fabric, or a coffee filter, etc. I don't, generally, but were I warned in advance that this would take my mask from "not okay" to "okay", I'd slip a packet of coffee filter cutouts in my car for such an eventuality.
 
That is interesting about tap limits Bette. I noticed at LCBO it used to be $100 and is now $200 so assumed stores or banks or someone increased limits. But it didnt actually check

I put it on before stepping in, and they do ask people to use the one given, unless I say the one I have is new. They don't ask. I don't know how easy it is to tell many people go into a grocery store or somewhere and then hang it in their vehicle.

I only reuse the one I wear to the hospital for any errands immediately following it. Generally I only wear it for 30 to 45 minutes at most in the hospital so figure there's more life left in it. I fold it carefully and set it beside me in the car. I dispose of it when I get home that day.

Not saying you specifically, just that the hospital cannot tell if someone has worn a mask before based on the folds when they come in wearing one. If it's really old that might be obvious, but I don't think it's really easy to determine if it's the first time it's been put on.

I do agree. Still, our health facilities haven't asked if mine is new. I don't know if they ask anyone, though they may ask if it's obvious or offer a new one.
 
When it comes to safety though, I would someone rather have used it for a little bit (not filthy, worn out, holes, wet, etc.) than have it off by me. I think the policy is a little odd, plus the set up kind of sucks.
 
@BetteTheRed , it may depend on if you are seeing folks with credit card or debit.

I rarely use debit card as don't want to expose my bank account.

Credit card tap limit went up to $250 in most stores. Debit stuck at $100 back then

Oh Florida definitely has a race issue for vaccines. Lots of news in the Naples News about inequality. And about private clinics and hatch clubs getting doses......... and oddly no one seems too concerned that deaths and cases are high. I think that is because it really isn’t on the news. You have to look for the information
