Sorry for the repair men wording. Lately all our repairs have been done by men. Cant think of a time our furnace or dishwasher has been repaired by a women actually
Sadly, trades and technical fields still tend to be male dominant. I could count the number of women who have worked for my employer as service technicians/delivery drivers on one hand, probably. Whereas RTs and customer service reps are predominantly women.

Back on topic, essential is sometimes hard to pin down, I think. Entertainment may not seem essential but if you're homebound for health or other reasons, it can become essential just to keep you mentally healthy. If your TV or PC or whatever you use for "fun" craps out, that could be essential. That said, stuff like that generally be ordered online for delivery or done curbside.

I think the issue of essential things is what gets us in trouble. Food, prescriptions, gas, are all essential. As in needed to live

what other things would you include? I figured repair people would cover hardware store items but I can also see hardware stores open for curb side pick up. Not sure I personally have anything else essential that I buy. Desired yes, but essential? Though I know that Ontario considers beer and liquor essential and I guess I could agree with that, particularly related to addictions
Home care,. medications - not just prescription and supplies, delivery people (we had to replace our fridge). There are also the helpers, like with having a fridge stocked by others. Quite a few of the trades can be fairly essential, not just for repairs. Childcare, that's not always family. What about school groups that are in the home ie. some kids are doing online school, some parents out of the home, so others supervise the group, falls under childcare too although some of those children are fairly old.

I'm not sure if your list was only listing what's allowed outside the home or not, there is more I would add if so.

True. Child care is definitely essential. Trades fall under construction to me. But yes essential. I am not aware of people doing school groups in their homes though I can see that happening. For now, schools are open here which is questionable to me

i can see that stores need staff in order to operate in a pick up environment but in Ontario stores are open. It is half assed. And hospitals are at the top capacity they have had since this started. It doesn’t feel like enough

best advice I read today was. Protect yourself. Don’t worry about others. Worry about yourself

Our mantra has been Take Care of Ourselves all along. Doesn't bring total safety. but it sure beats being careless.

One grand got a Positive test today. The other one in that household has been tested three times and not received any results. Not sure what that means, but if he was mine I would be badgering the health care system. One parent tested Negative, the other as no results yet.

I think our town of 5,000 has 60 cases.

Autonomy comes independently to folks that hate socializing as beliefs that come to to those that are not antisocial and into sharing ...

Thus many western ways trend towards avarice ... sad to say theyeasters react considerably as they consider the settings! Thus it comes down the way it does divine ation ... split atoms ... Eve ensues ...

There was an article a few days ago looking at USA media and COVID-19. It compared how different media presented it. Not surprisingly Republican oriented media, like Fox, downplayed Covid. But liberal media, like CNN over played it. So what you watched had a massive affect on how you reacted. None of that is surprising.

for me, I keep track of Florida. We have a home there and lots of friends there. And Florida, a republican state has gone its own way all year. Florida has about 18 million people compared to Ontario’s 14million
florida has had 33,000 deaths, Ontario 7000

yet our friends in Florida feel things are going well. Happy with the governor

ontario has gone to lock down , again. 3000 cases a day. It’s a worry for sure
florida has 6000 cases a day and everyone is open, good , happy

it is amazing the difference. I have trouble understanding it

Look around, Ontario's current "shutdown" is a joke........it might as well be Florida.

Lol. True. I feel for the frustrated medical staff

but in Florida life is back to normal. The only difference is that many people wear masks

and yet they are not too concerned about twice as many cases as we have. It is just a mind set thing

until vaccines are widely distributed we won’t get on top of this. Another summer of not seeing our kids? Another summer of no camps? Trudeau needs to answer for this fiasco.

Are indoor social gatherings allowed there? That is one thing that hasn't been loosened here, we're not allowed to have people in our homes, although those living alone/no other adults can have 2 close contacts. That does not mean going to another large family's gathering though, it's 2 contacts, not household.

We in Ontario are not to be gathering. Florida is another world. Perhaps it’s better. They are unaware and don’t care

i just want us to get our vaccines into people and perhaps get some normalcy

one good thing is that is warm weather our kids can come up and camp in the field. Then it’s easy for them to cook out and eat outside. So we may see them by June

No social gatherings. But driving around I can see almost every business open and Walmart blew my mind.....the parking lot was more than at Christmas.
I had to run into Zehrs to get one thing and at the entrance was a girl counting how many people were coming in. I asked her how many people were in the store now and she asked me what did I mean? I said, I mean how many people are in the store now because I want to decide whether I want to go in or not. She seemed flustered and appeared to make up a number (89). The parking lot had at the least had 150 cars, it was packed. Ditto for Home Depot and Canadian Tire....I didn't go in but parking lots were unusually full.
Honestly, I can see why restaurants and hairdressers are getting so peeved off when other stores are obviously flouting the rules.....25% occupancy my ass.

Dropped off an Easter basket, plus a memento from the old guy, to my daughter's today. I declined to come in. I can tell you, that, if my daughter and roomies are representative of the general feeling about "total lockdown", they could give a s**t. Walks over this long weekend, and watching parked cars, gives me the same story.

May as well be in Florida with everything open. Only people suffering are those who attempt to follow "the rules"...

At a nearby house - the owners, their three adult kids, their partners, about six children. One adult kid lives nearby, one in Alberta, one in BC. they sure as heck didn't get here without travelling!

I know someone went to Sask this weekend, I think it's allowed, he lives alone and as far as I know so does the person he was visiting. More of a how many issue that you saw and less about travel.

It is frustrating when you try to follow the rules. We could easily have had our kids up. Big house, room to spread out but we didn’t

I think the provinces need to do a big pivot with vaccines. They are still in the oldest first mentality. But the LTC folks are done. The retired folks can stay at home. It’s the younger ones. Who are at work

they should pivot to all companies with say more than five to ten staff. That eliminates little stores with owner and a few staff
they should do all essential workers. Set up a pharmacy clinic at each Walmart and grocery store And hardware. Do all the staff. Including all the staff on days off..... all factories

all people who take public transit. Apartment dwellers.......

these are the people causing the spread and they are now the ones who are ill

Will that satisfy all the divisive folk that follow the divine path of bifurcated polity? It gets cool at the end ... flames and flares go out ...

I almost wonder if change might be coming. Hillier's replacement is a doctor, albeit one who has been CEO of Ornge rather than practicing. Still, it means someone with a medical, rather than logistics, background who might listen to medical advisors more closely.

And just when you think you can "go back into the water", so to speak, Japan has a new Covid variant they have shortened to the initials EEK. This one supposedly resistant to our new vaccines. And the Olympics set to start in the new future....which will probably ensure this one won't be isolated and spread throughout the world if it's as viral as they're saying.

Just curious, is it possible our new vaccines are producing these super variants? So many different vaccines now in the world and now lots of new variants emerging to match. The British variant emerging after they started a somewhat successful distribution of the new vaccines. South Africa? Brazil? I don't know, just wondering out loud.

It’s hard to imagine the Olympic happening. Limited sports things seem to have gone alright. Just finished the NCAA basketball, other pro sports are happening. Baseball, golf, football. But the olympics are different. Thousands of athletes, coaches, therapists...... all living in close quarters. Even without fans it’s hard to picture
