London's medical officer said that they start calling future bookings to see if they can come in if there's going to be doses left at end of day. Basically use future bookings as the standby list.
I guess it's less inefficient if it's just end of day. Works for a mass clinic most likely. With a small pharmacy though, if they aren't calling people mid-day, I could see where vaccination time (rather than doses themselves) would go to waste. Ie Might only end up using 2 vials in a day instead of 3 or something like that. A few appointments being missed can really move up the time and most people aren't going to show up an hour early for an appointment. Less people free during the day, so it can take a longer time to find someone who is free to come in quickly.

Pharmacies are still a fairly small percentage here since they are only doing AZ and not in all areas.

It would actually be nice to see a break down, I have no idea what percentage is happing at AHS clinics vs pharmacies vs Metis clinics vs doctor offices (probably 0 for now on that last one).

Interesting. Here hospitals and health units have doing most of the work. Pharmacies and primary care have only just started since we got AZ.
I think they will send those out to pharmacies too. I think because of the early jump ahead with phase 2D for the astrazeneca shot and the expiration date being early AHS just handled it. All AZ doses were acocunted for, and as of yesterday it was something like only 200 doses still hadn't been administered, but the appointments were made.

Of course it depends if it ends up fitting in 'normally'. With the current restriction I can see AHS handling them for a while, but I think the restrictions on who they will be used for will ease.

55 cases connected to 1 restaurant in Calgary. Apparently there may be a lawsuit as they weren't following guidelines and some ended up hospitalized.

If you have seen the Marketplace report on people making money off conspiracy theorist believers ( paying for boot camps), there is an equivalent in Germany. A lawyer has been ” collecting “ money (800 Euros per person- about $1200) for a lawsuit against Christian Drosten- who is the German equivalent to Mr.Fauci. (Un)- surprisingly, nothing has happened.

Germany has had 31 cases of blood clots in people after vaccinations with Astrazenica. And as of today, Astrazenika has received permission to now be called Vaxzevria. Supposedly a move planned for a couple of months and nothing to do with it’s bad reputation.
I can’t get the logic of AZ being safe in older people- older people are having more health problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, risk factors for strokes.
NS is doing mostly Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations, as our health minister just said.

Denial conspiracies are as common as the word "no" and people finding a psychotic space where they do not hear negative responses ... thus gnomon in the arid places ... it may need to be printed out for many as denial powers are common!

Some folks will refuse anything with any question at to the why, where forth, etc.

Alas according to great administration powers I am restricted ... from certain threads as thought ... kind of like Stockholm Syndrome!

After that they lose me ... they see not the comings and goings like give & take without IT ... the cognizance therewith! The things rather uncomfortable to hear about abuse of lesser concerns ... wee folks?

That's tragic - and an important message that eating in restaurants is not such a great idea at this time - at least for me. Not knowing how the restaurant was not following guidelines - but if I went anywhere and saw that guidelines were not being followed, I'd be leaving right away - not staying for a meal and then suing the restaurant for jeopardizing my safety. Personal responsibility is being supplanted by lawsuits in some cases which I find to be sad.

The blood clots aren't the most common type. They figure they are ones due to an autoimmune reaction and begin in the brain.

I would be in favor of the province opening up vaccines to all adults. Just sign up, come in and get it. Now that more younger people are getting ill it doesn’t make a lot of sense to do this oldest first anymore

cases are ticking up all over the place. Our medical officer of health is following around 400 close contacts for our cases, which remain low. he is frustrated at our 20 some odd cases have so many contacts. They continue to say, see no one other than the people you live with. But it isn’t happening. I think people are tired of it and are taking unnecessary risks. In our green zone, restaurants are open inside with limited capacity. But it doesn’t make sense to be inside and near others

The current phase here is those 16+ but with health conditions. The provincial system does do bookings going down by age, some of that is to prevent the system from being overloaded due to too many phonecalls/online bookings being done at once.

Yes I am sure they are worried about a mad rush for vaccines. But I think it would be much simpler. You are a adult, you live in the province, get an appointment

interesting , in Toronto a few apartment buildings that are mainly seniors were done as a group. Everyone living in the building was done on the theory that the 25 year old is a risk factor for the 70 in the elevator......

Even for the flu shot, it's often offered to those with health issues first.

Feeling somewhat overwhelmed with Covid info recently. One daughter and family are back at the testing stage again and isolating at home. They had only just got the All Clear from their previous scare. Not sure who got the original contact - maybe two adult sons and two girlfriends. There were at least ten told to get tested.
My other daughter is scheduled to fly out on Friday to get to her job on a cruise ship. The last info she shared had her flying to Barbados, quarantining and then sailing to Greece to continue outfitting the vessel.
