I am at high risk ... and low and behold ... it is my own fault. I could mitigate my risk considerably by being more responsible for my own health as opposed to expecting 'others' to be responsible for not compromising my health that I have sorely neglected of my own accord.

In my sermon prep this week I am wondering...
Is some of the resistance and skepticism we are seeing partly a product of unnamed grief and anxiety and people processing the traumatic impact of this event?

Worthy of reflection........

I'm also interested in possible connections with childhood experiences.
Fears relating to serious illness as a child?
Not enough personal freedom as a child?

You are misrepresenting my objections ... I trust that is not intentional.

I am not objecting to being asked to wear a mask. I am objecting to being mandated with threat of punitive force against those who choose for many rational reasons not to comply.

I am not objecting to being told Covid is a danger ... I am objecting to the villifying of individuals that assess the risk as less than necessary to curtail the freedom to thrive for those 99% that are at minimal risk who would better be able to serve those at risk by taking care of them as opposed to alienating them.

I am objecting to mandatory compliance with a protocol that is restricting human beings ability to act humanely.

I would counter that to say that no one is telling anyone they must shop. Or must go to a restaurant or must do anything. If people don’t want to wear a mask they have the option of staying home, ordering in or curbside pick up

if You feel that your rights superseded the rights of the other than you are incorrect

What I'm having a serious problem with is that most LTC/retirement facilities are still not allowing volunteers in to help. Family are still limited, and I'm predicting another lockdown this winter (there's often frequent flu lockdowns anyway).

One of the nursing homes close to me is a well-respected non-profit, but they relied somewhat on volunteers to help with programming, and meal times. Those volunteers have been shut out since March. I suspect that cognitive decline has been more rapid than it would have been without the severe and longstanding disruption of socialization opportunities. I know a lovely old fellow with Parkinson's, who ended up in a home last fall. His beloved wife of 50 something years would visit every day, and they would do the crossword together. They've been doing it via Zoom for months, but it's difficult with his lack of dexterity, and she is really sad, and lonely, and so is he.

Certainly the anecdotal stories from families are showing lots of negative effects of those elderly and others living in group homes

This is another thing that you do that the nazis did ... put human beings into camps of right is wrong.

But that is not bearing out is it ... are the hospitals filling up with covid cases?
No Nazis did not do that, Rita. You're diminishing the fact that they killed people based on ethnicity, and ability and health status - including the elderly. The vulnerable. Those people were not fit for society in their minds. They wanted them out of sight of their vision of a "perfect" fit and able (and white) society. They could look after themselves and couldn't be bothered with who they thought we "less than perfect" humans who weren't self sufficient and part of their "tribe".

And you know who else is more at risk? People from low income neighbourhoods who have poorer predictors of general health due to socioeconomics - many of whom are essential workers (and many are people of colour) working in retail and food establishments. If mandatory protections are in place to help them, you object?

You're indicating that people with health conditions are not your problem. If they get killed by someone breathing covid virus into their personal space without a mask - it's their fault for being out in public while 'defective'.

I hope that's not the case. I know here they have really reviewed the overall effects. Family weren't the ones bringing in the virus. Keeping them out was seen to have detrimental health effects. It seems like they have learned how to manage this better going forward in LTC.

I know two volunteers who have been feeding residents at G____ Park for many years, and they're still not allowed in.

Is that comorbid or just half morbid thought for folks that don't like anything negative ... like electron flow in the neural system could indicate coming pains! It is just a sensation I get from time to time ... maybe eclectic?

That is not the goal, at least in this province. The goal is to figure out how to live with it until we learn more. Some of that learning may only be learning how to treat people who get sick. Eliminating the infection and death is neither on the radar nor realistic.

Learning is ID'd as knowledge in some cultures as cultivated norm .. whereas one book tells us that knowledge is evil as it displaces emotional states if you think about it substantially!

Would an ideal leader that discouraged thought and knowledge prefer war with his neighbours and friends; leading to isolationism while the war-monger makes piles out of the manufacture of materials and matter required in the struggle? Could such profits disturb many other pieces of the broken society and reflect on distraught prophets? Thus shineing in the shades of war ... polished ire*on*ye!

But of course :3

Also great shocks can and historically are able to shake us free from our assumptions/what we have learned 2 b true or not true/our Belief Systems and during pandemics historically a lot of mass beliefs have arisen from it?

Just like I'm seeing

Or want to see lol

If one does not wish to see what's there ... can faith in blindness assist ... and thus it was!

Love is like that ... it too can blind an individual to most everything ... be cautious of excess emotions ... like blind capital ... there may be rich senators isolated behind a great stone wall of that institution ... stoned takes on a new understanding ...

Trump was right about a lot of things around this pandemic. That does not translate to I think Trump is a good 'leader' so don't even go there.
Well, actually, no he wasn't. 200,000 people in the US have died of covid since March. An entirely new disease, which there was no other means to stop but old fashioned ones, they died from. Until there's a vaccine (which Bill Gates isn't debuting anytime soon, is he? Funny, that.) - masks and social distancing are effective at preventing the spread. Full stop. If everyone wore them they could stop the virus in 8 weeks. Full stop. Is everyone going to inconvenience themselves for 8 weeks to save lives? To even try? And then assess in 8 weeks? No they won't, because of people who have the same misguided opinion as you who are not medical doctors or researchers, thinking they know everything. Trump is not a doctor. He's killing people. If his supporters get covid at his rallies he won't be popular with them anymore. If any other leader let 200,000 people in his own country die of a new and fast spreading disease because he had a beef with the health officials or wanted to downplay the risk in an election year - or because he just didn't care about the states that don't vote for him - they'd be considered, not just a bad leader, but an egomaniacal monster.

Does not matter how many times you repeat the same thing over and over ... it is still not true. Full Stop.

The world is going into a slump not seen since the great depression – caused as much by all governments’ response as by the virus itself. Full Stop.

In the absence of effective treatment or a vaccine that may never come, at some point, we just have to learn to live with this virus, in ways that can be kept-up more or less indefinitely: with borders managed but open; businesses vigilant but otherwise fully operational; and normal life continuing, with more precautions, more humane ones, for the sick and elderly. Full Stop.

Sadly, most of the elderly victims have died alone –without the solace of family and friends –because of the measures put in place to protect them. Full Stop.

Psychic damage will be at least as bad as the pandemic’s toll on health and wealth. Full Stop.

Governments paying businesses’ wages bill for them, borrowers freed from mortgage repayments, and tenants no longer having to pay rent: none of this can last. Full Stop.

The sooner citizens don’t have to offer police an explanation for their movements, the less anxious we will feel. Full Stop.

The sooner the airwaves are not filled by officials telling us not to go out, not to see people, and not to shake anyone’s hand, the more resilient we will be, even if there may be some modest uptick in corona cases. Full Stop.

From a health perspective, this pandemic has been serious. Full Stop.

From an economic perspective it’s been disastrous. Full Stop.

From an overall well-being perspective it will turn out worst of all. Full Stop.

This is what happens when we let fear of falling sick stop us from being fully alive. Full Stop.

Now that each one of us has had six months to consider this pandemic and to make our own judgments about it ... it is time to relax the rules, so that individuals can take more personal responsibility and make more of their own decisions about the risks they’re prepared to run. Full Stop.

Why are you so invested in it not being over?
I'm interested in the truth, which is that it is not over. I'm not interested in accepting the lies you're spreading. Daily. Over and over and over again.

If people in places that have active cases wore masks everyday for 8 weeks, while our around others, it could be over. But they won't. And so some places have to enforce it because of selfish jerks who won't simply wear a f***ing mask! It's immature. And it's harming people. Both the making and spreading of false information, and the refusal to just f***ing help out everybody else instead of just themselves for a little while.

You wanted to abolish money. Now you care about the economy? f*** off.
Can you just imagine if people would have listened to me ... we would have all the resources in the world ready to share with everyone who need them ... but now ... pay to play ... still ruling the day.
Wrong. Stop talking to me.
Ok ... I'm not talking to you. Don't read the rest of this post.

This is a Social Engineering Experiment ...

Making some of us feel a state of fear makes some of us easy to control and manipulate.

Making some of us feel that there has been an enemy invasion (a virus).

Making some of us feel that our bodies do not have the necessary defense mechanisms by making us virtually ignore our own immune system.

Making some of us feel that we are under attack.

Making some of us feel we need protection.

Making some of us rely on doctors and researchers spawned from western medical schools as our only hope.

Making some of us doubt traditional medicine, which works in concert with the immune system, and now labelling it quackery and pseudoscience.

Making some of us see the government as the benevolent manager of the whole process partnering with the laudable heroes in the 'health care system'.

Making some of us stand up and applaud people for people just doing their jobs... following orders.

Making some of us forget that those who were competent and caring in 2018 and 2019 are no more or less competent than they are in a 2020 pandemic.

Making some of us forget that those who were incompetent or corrupt and apathetic to begin with are not likely more competent or less corrupt or more empathetic now.

No it wouldn't have. It would be worse. Why don't you and your mad max comrades hitch a ride on Space X and build a colony on Mars - and fight amongst yourselves about whose individual rights are more important. Take Trump with you. But, to be sure, his are always more important as far as he's concerned. That's why the world is as polarized as it is right now.

As far as I can tell, you're on the side of the far right - because that's the ultimate source of your information - but you won't realize it. They are using libertarians to spread lies. I don't think that is your intent but the line has been drawn and you are on that side of it.
