The converse argument can also be made ...I thought you were smarter than this. Many if not most of those "94%" would still be living with their coexisting conditions. Their deaths are as much from covid as the 6%
You blame people for having comorbidities? That's really f'd up. The nazis hated people who were already 'defective' too. And if this is who you are ultimately being fed information from - the far right - keep in mind there are no guarantees that you would be acceptable to them. Right now maybe you're just useful for spreading ideas like "it was their fault for having comorbitities." and other dangerous ideas. The converse argument can also be made ...
Had it not been for them having one or more serious comorbidities, the risk of the virus to these individuals would have been minuscule, and if they got sick at all, they’d probably have survived. So, ultimately, should the virus bear the brunt of the blame?
How you twist words is f'd up. People with comorbidities are susceptible to complications from other dis-eases ... they were before the novel corona and they will be after the new threat to their overall well being is old news. Did you take precautions on your own behalf of your own free will before this 'casedemic' or did you expect that the rest of the world should compromise their own health to protect yours. You blame people for having comorbidities? That's really f'd up. The nazis did that.
This is another thing that you do that the nazis did ... put human beings into camps of right is wrong. And if this is who you are ultimately being fed information from - the far right - keep in mind there are no guarantees that you would be acceptable to them.
But that is not bearing out is it ... are the hospitals filling up with covid cases? If the hospitals fill up with covid cases there might not be room for me if I have a serious injury.
Like the dangerous assumption that myself my children and my grandchildren are dangerous vectors of disease and we should be ostracized from the public square for the common good.Right now maybe you're just useful for spreading ideas like "it was their fault for having comorbitities." and other dangerous ideas.
Covid hospitalizations are on the rise where you live?Starting too. Let’s hope it doesn’t spike or there will be no room again for elective surgery
You are really hoping that myself or someone in my family gets really sick so that you can be %1000 percent sure of your blind adherence to fascism ... I forgive you.Rita. If you or anyone in your family gets this and gets really sick I'm 1000% sure you will change your tune, be in favour of masks and social distancing - or you'll blame not yourself for not mask wearing but you'll find a way to blame Fauci or something ridiculous.
“… it requires so little from us, so little independent thought; just our basic belief and adherence to a limited set of popularly-shared directives and narratives that once fully accepted, relieve us of the need to address stubborn questions or to fret over subtle differences of opinion and feeling.
Propaganda reassures us that we are complete, that we know all there is to know, that we are rational, pragmatic and pure, that the science has been settled and that we are a part of something special.”
Covid hospitalizations are on the rise where you live?
In my sermon prep this week I am wondering...
Is some of the resistance and skepticism we are seeing partly a product of unnamed grief and anxiety and people processing the traumatic impact of this event?
“The real problem is that when human societies lose their freedom, it’s not usually because tyrants have taken it away. It’s usually because people willingly surrender their freedom in return for protection against some external threat. And the threat is usually a real threat but usually exaggerated.
That’s what I fear we are seeing now. The pressure on politicians has come from the public. They want action. They don’t pause to ask whether the action will work. They don’t ask themselves whether the cost will be worth paying. They want action anyway. And anyone who has studied history will recognize here the classic symptoms of collective hysteria.
It is time to ask ourselves some very pressing questions.Hysteria is infectious. We are working ourselves up into a lather in which we exaggerate the threat and stop asking ourselves whether the cure may be worse than the disease.”
You are misrepresenting my objections ... I trust that is not intentional.I am puzzled by your objections Rita
you are objecting to being asked to wear masks in public buildings
and objecting to being told Covid is a danger?
and objecting to what else exactly
yes Ontario is seeing new hospitalizations rising
Is it reasonable to expect government to eliminate ALL infection and ALL death?
And letting the people who do not get sick go about living their lives without fear of being punished. Some of that learning may only be learning how to treat people who get sick.
How ... what age ... what pre-existing ailments ... where were they living before they were hospitalized ... many? Many are in ICU as well.
