CARNEY - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Carney almost got my vote. He almost did. Then came the ageism. Free admittance for young adults to museums and such. Free VIA travel, but only for the young. And then came even more ageism. A promise of new training programs, but only for those mid-career, middle aged. And so I decided not to vote for him. I hope Canada elects a great government and a great leader, but I don't especially see Carney or Poilivre as being the latter

I hear an argument here that the aged must be looked after because they are the only ones that can manage to pay for materials desired ... due to strange means and mediums! Did you get that. PS: is a "Poilivre" like something you pull-over someone's head? As Mark Twain said ... sound it out ... do the Phoe Netix! Who is Phoe ... but the greater self as we self destruct ...

Best to put some distance in that form ... thus spatial activity ... I think said the M'N! And one returns with what's theme 'n that? Themonix ... resembling Odin if you have to ponder chaos ... a fiery dark Ness? Profound as Ba the Zheba ... anything chee þa'! Is it just word describing what can't be defined, when it comes to getting a free lunch? Thus some of us listen up to the dirt that passes as real when its none sense ... a lot of dirt flies because of unknown reasoning ...

Can't explain your hearing, Luce. People should not be discriminated against based on age. Full stop

Heh, why are you telling "me" this I observed it in others ... you know the alternates! They do not believe there is anything beyond their self ...

Self being a quandary in many circles ... a quirk? I have enough to purchase a few quirks and feed what hasn't but they really give me hell for favoring what they feel is useless ... like those unable to do much but think of times gone bi ... therein one could grasp something borrowed, blue and otherwise flaming due to irritation by rich beliefs of overwhelming the subtle ... its useless ... as it come up again ... my**chondria ... a substance like algae and slime ...

Irritants? Something for etude ... study? Blin d' Allais ... free lunches? Check out the dumps tiers ... micro organism!

These drift on air ...

They are not being discriminated against on the basis of age. The programs are investments targeting particular age groups for particular national goals. Encouraging young Canadians to travel to other parts of Canada increases labour mobility and strengthening national identity. Providing easier access to training for people with ten to twenty five more years of participating in the work force when highly skilled trades workers are s good investment in the economy. Your reasoning makes OAS discrimination against everyone under 65.

Then someone said: "don't go there" ... because it is mentally distasteful ... may cause phantoms and forms on the projection of psyche ... a thing declared to exist not! Thus the thing drifted off like a aura of migraine! That would be a headache as it is extracted ... dirty thought?

Funny things thoughts are to a mass 've peoples ... this from a character said to be fully abstract ... they cannot see me ...

It is often the way it goes in virtue ... unreal?

I don’t like this new nationalism. Nationalism and the drums of war - don’t usually turn out well. I prefer being more humble about patriotism. But, here we are. And the nation is all rallied up. Investing in military might and getting young people charged up. We didn’t think it over much, the response to Carney was rather automatic. Even I liked him on Jon Stewart, a US late night political comedy show - that’s where Carney first announced his run. Did we think about why that was? I did but I wasn’t too critical at the time.

Yeah, nationalism has been a mixed blessing of modernism. I am a bit of an outlier in that I see myself as human and a citizen of the Earth first, then as a "Canadian". I'm also rather cynical about our alleged superiority as a nation. You have to overlook a lot to get there. All nations have their faults and foibles, some just have more.

Having in-laws in another country and culture, connections by my son's marriage to another whole culture again, and a philosophical perspective based on us as a part of a greater whole kind of leans me that way, I guess.

We have pointy elbows. That’s good, we’re told! ;)

We have natural resources and a vast and beautiful landscape that is coveted. That conjures up images of “Canadian” but I’m not willing to go to war if the point is to hog them. If it’s to protect us from being absorbed by another country and their fascist dictator’s laws that’s different.

We’re about to elect a status quo neoliberal capitalist who’s talking like a wartime statesman. I’m not sure that’s something to be happy about.

A fundamental flaw in modern nationalism is that it assumes the nation being upheld doesn't need fixing and that any criticism is putting down the nation. A nationalism that said, I love my nation but we can do better would be more productive. That's kind of my approach to Canada. We have some great things, but we also have some things that are fundamentally broken.

We have universal funding for medical care, which is great, but seemingly no idea of how to actually make that work efficiently or ensure that care happens on a timely basis, to give one example. And more or less completely neglect a lot of preventative medicine in favour of focusing on the reactive, break-fix parts of the system.

Yeah. I fear that can might be kicked down the road while the focus is on building the military. Really doesn’t bode well for those with complex health needs.

I find it really depends on one's age bracket and then it seems the issues become more varied according to what's important or not based on that. Young people 19-30, want something different to happen within politics than 30-45 olds, or 45-55, and then 55 and up. The seniors are leading in the voting because they get out and vote....and most of that group are voting liberal.
Should we also consider what's best for the country, living beside a giant, that is fast becoming a tyranny? Can they stand up against that.
I look for someone that includes this issue too.

The OAS is given to people who are most often marginalized in society. If anything, its effect is combating ageism.

The measures I spoke of that Carney wants done benefit the majority. It's somewhat akin to if he wanted to give free cultural experiences and train travel, and free job retraining - but only to white people.

As I see it, other than this, Carney is currently Canada's best choice for Prime Minister. However, because of this, I won't be voting Liberal

Will the outcome of the Canadian election change anything in your life one way or another?
Yeah, I've thought of that and commented on it here at WC2. I don't think a whole lot at all, personally. But I have family and friends in Canada who will be affected by whatever happens. Most of them are for the Conservatives but those who are for the Liberals are really strongly so

Yes, big time. PP will increase the age of retirement to67, so I have to work two more years. He will take away the $10 / day daycare fee- so my son has to pay more and can afford less. He will “ defund “ the CBC, so I have to find other sources for reliable information. He will cut support to secondary education- again, that would affect grandkids. He will continue to polarize the Canadian society with his lies and fake news- that will affect us all.

None of that will affect me, a Canadian who, along with about 4 million other Canadians, lives outside Canada

What if all things are relative and sensitive on a tiny scale ... quantum effects thus swirl and sweep us into dark periods!

It is almost like a God Syndrome that may be relative to Metabolic Syndrome and so on into the depths of what you are comprehensive about!

Good reason for those wishing to win big ... to cause minor deficiencies in the underlying systems ... subtle?

The medium state is thus unheard of as the winners cannot swallow or digest it ... imagine a medium state eh! Unreal ... like a bubble economy ... they bust!
