Greetings convivial sentients

It has been quite a ride

So this NWT son has been our Public Servant PM since March 9, 2025 (hello future selves)

Let this be the thread where we can discuss how He has done so far? What promises has he kept? What has he broken? And so forth as yer muse (and politikal xpertise) tames u.

A whole lot of Firsts to Enjoy

He scrapped the carbon tax and I support a carbon tax in principle, but I also know it was probably inevitable given current reality. What he does about climate change going forward probably matters more that what he did or didn't do with that tax.

He's moving fast on building relations with other allies (France and Britain so far) who have been having Trump issues, which is a good move.

He hasn't done anything to piss me off yet, so I guess that's damning with faint praise? It's really too early to pass judgement, though. Once he either calls an election or Parliament resumes (probably the former), there might be more meat to chew on.

Until he is ready to face the Canadian Electorate Mr. Carney does not have a legitimate mandate from the Canadian people or from the House of Commons to rule Canada. IMO

Good thing the PM does not actually "rule" anything.

What is the politically correct word for what a PM does.?
Leads the governing party, which is what they are chosen to do. And that party "governs" the nation, they do not "rule" it. "Rule" is a term we really don't use anymore since no one, even the king, has that kind of authority in our system. Indeed, an executive presidency like that of the US comes closer to "ruling" than anyone in our system. Just look at some of what is happening under Trump.

And that's not "politically correct", it is the actual, correct terminology for their role in a parliamentary system.

As one person said yesterday about mini stereo positions:
"You cannot please everybody and everything so get over it ... thus the a wakened and those still yet to WOKE!"

If you through a time factor and space factor into it spreads ... timely inflation? Beyond that further relief and come down ...

Like a burned earth it melts and flattens ...

I mentioned firsts upthread

(Firsts are so special)

PM Mark's First visit to Iqaluit

PM Mark is the First classy Canadian PM During Trump's second Term
(no usages of variations on unhinged, fascist, evil, felon, criminal etc to describe Mump)

I feel like he really wants to do a good job of protecting Canadian interests. And his voice, and speaking style - a bit dry but he’s got some personality - is actually reassuring. I am not sure about him though, because I’m not sure what all his policy positions are regarding some specific human rights things - his focus is economics.

His military spending choices are cold comfort.

I think that at this stage in our history our best bet is to give him a chance. He isn't very young or old. He has experience in the world of employment outside politics. To me he comes across as thoughtful, intelligent and seems to be capable of listening. I hope he doesn't get lots of 'guesswork bad press' before we know him.

No one has a clue about what King Donny will spout about next, nor which of his threats he will actually act upon. Hopefully Canada can keep level headed.

Clues are critical in some forms of common sense ... many do not get it!

I think he's been to Davos, hasn't he? Given he was a central banker and major figure in global finance, it would almost be weird if he hadn't been. In fact, I see the World Economic Forum website has a bio for him, suggesting he's been a speaker or something.

Yeah,

I don't know how involved he is and such; Rita is much more clued in to that kind o thang, so that is why I asked

Like I don't know how involved he is with Davos' frankenstein version of Capitalism, stakeholder capitalism

If we don't know ... should someone look into the situation?

A mass will say no for fear of what might be learned about mysteries ... fear, stupidity and anger are said to be great accompanists ... well nested as psyche!

The faces of Eve are like that ... part of the Great Unknown posing as God ... no counting on what pops up ... a thorn?

Poili evre? Be prepared for re arrangements ... so that freedom and what's loose can go down ... depression does stimulate reactions!

Idle come back at us again because of afore said deficiencies ... procession as we head down the tubes ... not knowing any balance!

And the rumours today are saying election on April 28 with the writ dropping on the weekend. That means a bare minimum length campaign. Not much time for the Liberals to catch the Conservatives, but maybe enough given current trends. Even holding Poilievre to a minority would be a victory given far ahead he was at the end of last year.

A quick election is, I think, in the Liberals favour. Strike while iron is orange.
