I have a nurse friend who is against the restrictions. I have to be extra careful on how I respond to her because I believe she ought to know better given her profession. I'm amazed that some of the stuff that persists after a year. I'm good with questioning and believe we should be questioning. Some of the misinformation though is dangerous.
It was being given to those under 65. Ie. Here the first people to get it were those who turn 64 in 2021. So if the 55+ crowd were just as likely to experience blood clots as those under 30, 55 to 65 year olds should have been better represented in that data.Astrazenecas trials were mostly done on those under 55 which is why the vaccine was given to that age group once approved and the blood clots occurred in those age groups. The trials to include older adults were not done and were later done rather quickly when this "hole" in the data was noticed....is my understanding.....so will we see blood clots occur in an older (60+) group now that they are the only ones recommended to get it?.....based on possibly inadequate data from trials that were rushed?

What scientists do and don’t know about the Oxford–AstraZeneca COVID vaccine
Results confirming the vaccine’s strong protection against COVID-19 were welcomed following last week’s pause in roll-outs — but fresh questions have now emerged about the data.www.nature.com
@Northwind - glad to hear your letter arrived; I'm sure you'll get something worked out that will suit you. Fingers crossed. Must be so challenging to get all the bits & pieces into alignment.
I don't agree. Severe reactions are lfar less likely to the vaccine but when they do happen they can be just as devastating. Not sure how you see them as less severe. The good news is that possible reactions to the vaccine will be far less severe than reactions to the actual coronavirus!
Been to Brazil (Rio) and did not have to get the yellow fever shot. That probably only applies to the Amazon Basin or something. I have had Hep A & B shots done long ago since they are endemic in China and I go there frequently (or used to). It's not required, just wise.to travel to Brazil you must be vaccinated for yellow fever and hepatitis.
Are those hypothetical or real cases? I can’t imagine real ones, because someone who doesn’t wear a mask as staff in a hospital would not be staying there long. Or are masks not mandatory in hospitals where you live? We have been wearing surgical masks at work for a long time now ( I am guessing its a year now). When the second wave started and we had a local hot spot, we were also wearing visors, despite not even having active cases in the hospital.A person in an inlaws family is very much a anti-covid, anti-mask, anti-vaxxer person as is his spouse They are people who shares and believe in the misinformation. Proudly says as they walks into stores, I don't wear masks. Sends their kid to school withougett mask.
The wife was a PSW, and wouldn't comply to requirements.
She got a job in a hospital.
She refuses to wear a mask.
She refuses to get vaccinated.
She is protected and it's "ok".
Do you think she should be able to not be vaccinated?
Another family person works in vaccination clinic.
One vaccinator has been offered the vaccine three times (at end of shift when consuming leftover in bottle). Each time she said no, and the last time admitted that she did not want to be vaccinated.
Should she be allowed to work at a vaccination clinic?
Interesting. our plane landed in Manaus and forefingers had to have the yellow fever card in their passport. Inspected and stampedBeen to Brazil (Rio) and did not have to get the yellow fever shot. hospitals often require staff to take flu shots and such. It is always controversial. Our obstetrics floor required everyone to take a hepatitis vaccine when it came out about twenty years ago. I believe everyone complied

Wonder if @GiancarloZ knows? He is from Brazil.Interesting. our plane landed in Manaus and forefingers had to have the yellow fever card in their passport. Inspected and stamped
that is the Amazon access point but had thought it was all Brazil. I had to get half a dozen shots, and carry proof. About five years ago
Yes, but that’s for patients/ visitors. I am wondering when/ if staff had to wear masks. I mean, any staff that would refuse to wear masks when its mandatary would not survive the probation period. They initially made masks mandatory and we could wear our own masks. That was changed in November. We are now required to wear the disposable blue and white hospital masks. I have a box of them because I really don't want to stand in the entrance and change masks.
I hear you....but take comfort..... youve raised a very independent daughter. My daughter who flies to Barbados tomorrow had to have proof of vaccination for (I think) mumps, measles, whooping cough. That, of course was in addition to a clear Covid test and vaccination. Apparently she has quite a sheaf of papers along with her passport and ticket. This mum would have preferred it had she turned down the job - but mums don't make the decisions for adult kids.
