I'm a bit confused with your latest update, do you actually have a respiratory infection (besides the cold) or is it just inflammation or is it too difficult for them to know if it's both or not?

I believe it's's both. The x-ray indicated bronchial pneumonia and the antibiotics have been helping. The CT revealed "glass" which is a common response when someone has a reaction to the chemo drug. Thankfully it responds well to prednisone. I already notice more difference this morning.

My good friend told me that during her chemo, she felt really disconnected with her body because the side effects were so unpredictable. That was a rough, but temporary time in the course of her treatment.

So glad the prednisone is helping. (y)

I think I understand what your friend meant. I realized yesterday that the antibiotics were making me feel a bit off. I had forgotten they do that. Same with some of the symptoms of the pneumonia.....I just brushed them off as chemo effects. I think I need to broaden my outlook a bit, or ask more questions at times.

True enough that it can be hard distinguish & important not to assume source - a lesson my dad recently experienced. He'd been having ongoing ankle pain, thought it was 'bone pain' due to prostate cancer meds. I encouraged him to call his doc & at least let him know about it. Was sent for an x-ray - oh gosh - cracked bone in the ankle! No wonder he was having some pain! Cast boot made a difference, but still having issues ... so he's going to check now with the doc!

Yeah, this checking with the doctor thing seems to be a good idea many times....... If I find myself back in Emerg under similar circumstances as I did last week, I'll call either the clinic nurse line or the oncologist on call to check in. I suspect they would have recommended antibiotics. That hindsight......

Did that coffee and tea cart come out today? Oh, I see it. I think I'll have some tea and one of these lovely sweets.

:coffee: Help yourself to a rhubarb square too if you like those.

As Seeler says it so nicely in the Seeler thread- it is good to sometimes feel appreciated.
Having had my birthday off this week I returned to work to my colleagues asking how old I now was and when I was thinking to retire, counting with dismay that they would then be 10 years working without me until they themselves could retire. We spoke about how well we complement each other- they resourcing my “Germaness”, if they need someone to be spoken to frankly- and they slowing me down when I get upset about the management and suggesting more assertiveness. My colleagues were a main factor for me to stay in Canada after the divorce.

Happy Birthday Mrs. A! Seems we have a few Gemini folks here!! Glad you have such a strong group of colleagues - I miss that from my workplace now that I am retired. Having to build a new network but miss the frequent contact. Fortunately, there is a large group of my former colleagues "the old girls" - who still get together about twice a year for dinner - this week there were 18 present - some still working, most retired or moved out of area, but still come back for dinners - that says a lot. OTs are pretty special people I think.
