Gotta love the early morning appointments, more than once I've been told to show up x minutes early, only for the place to not be open yet!
One time when I did that I was the first one there waiting for them to open for a test. They did intake for everyone who was having surgery first though, they didn't get to me for quite some time.

I had an abdominal ultrasound a couple weeks ago. Booked for 7:30am (it's a fasting test so I took the early time). Arrived to find the door unlocked but no one to be seen. Finally one of the technicians appeared, realized the receptionist wasn't in yet, and booked me in.

No, I'm not in the hospital. I was only there at Emerg twice last week because my temperature was elevated. The doctor who ordered the chest x-ray said it was bronchitis, with no sign of pneumonia. the doctor at the cancer clinic showed me the report. It clearly said it indicated bronchial pneumonia. They're really aggressive at the clinic because of there's any bacteria and someone is given treatment, they can get quite sick. It's nice to have some energy again.

Oh, and I was operating under the belief I had a cold until I was disabused of that notion by the clinic doctor....

Since I'm not sure everyone in here goes to Last Post and BethAnne rarely leaves it, I'll just drop a mention that BethAnne lost her mother this afternoon. It's been a rough few months for that family and I'm sure support from Wonderfriends would be welcome. Please go there to leave condolences or other messages since she's more likely to see them there than here.

The doctor who I saw on Friday called me today. He looked at yesterday's CT report and it shows stuff in my lungs that suggest inflammation. This is likely a reaction to the chemo drug. He consulted with the oncologist (who I see next week) and they've decided to end this treatment since I've had most of the treatment anyway (10/12) . I will proceed to the next drug. He also prescribed three doses of Prednisone to knock down the inflammation. I'm not heartbroken to have a bit of a break. I have an MRI on Saturday then see the oncologist on Tuesday. Onwards and forward.

Thanks Mendalla for letting us know.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Bette - my brother had this also - nasty thing. Will you still be going for a visit?

G____ is a pretty well connected guy in Toronto, and he's got a great surgeon/oncologist lined up and real eager to get this out, but OR back-ups say that it will be late August, a couple of months, before he's scheduled. His beloved is keen to take $100K to Buffalo NOW, but as he says, he knows his doctor is one of the best, and who knows who he might get down in the U.S. He's my age, a few months short of 60.

My late husband had two siblings. HIs brother, G, lives in Toronto, his sister, A, lives in Dorval, so yes , I'll be making my yearly pilgrimage to the Jazz Festival. My mother-in-law will be 82 this year, and less keen on the trip, but A & I still like to visit, and I'm the only family member who will happily accompany her hubby to two nights worth of Jazz festival stages.

No, it sounds like a surgery-first sitch at present. A is a nurse/nurse-educator; she seemed worried but not freaked out by the delay. He's an 8 on the 1-10 scale for urgency, but his PSA is quite low, so he'd be bumping 9s and 10s for surgery. No evidence of metastasis.

That's good news then. Prostate cancer is quite treatable from what I understand. Having excellent doctors in his corner will help tons.

It’s terrible that you were misled. Do you think the doctor was not telling the truth, or left something out, or was s/he not competent at reading the report? Are you thinking of filing a complaint?

No. Some of the view that I had a cold was me. I have to recognize my new normal, which I hope is temporary. I need to take this stuff more seriously. I didn't have all the information I needed to advocate for myself, and Emerg doctors operate differently than doctors in a chemo clinic. I now have more info. If I do land in emerg again, I could call the oncologist on call or, if during business hours, the nurse line at the clinic for another perspective. This is all part of the learning curve.

I'm a bit confused with your latest update, do you actually have a respiratory infection (besides the cold) or is it just inflammation or is it too difficult for them to know if it's both or not?
