@Seeler

I see you are having a birthday tomorrow :) (the 3rd) . . . I am afraid if I wait til tomorrow to wish you a Happy Birthday I will miss it altogether . . . so I am going to wish you a pre-Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear seeler,
Happy Birthday to you.

I hope your day tomorrow is filled with love and laughter, and that as others celebrate the specialness and uniqueness of you that you are aware of how special you are. May your year hold an abundance of blessings and reasons to rejoice in. HAPPY day tomorrow.

Mendalla, the wonderful thing in a virtual world is that EVERYONE enjoys your singing.

(However, I share your pain; I am equally not blessed with a tuneful ear, and my volume control is a bit off. I have received a number of glares in my life; it's very entertaining when it's outside and directed at the 'singing SUV'...)

Happy birthday, Seeler, and many, many happy returns of the day.

You sing while driving, too, eh? I've been joining in the "Singalong song of the day" on Radio 2 Morning recently:cool:. The timing is just perfect as it comes on while I'm en route from Little M's school to my office.

I know around here there's places that will do the DVD transfer (for a fee). Once you have them on DVD, there's fairly easy-to-use software (I'm sure a child or grandchild could figure it out and teach you) for doing the rips to a digital file. I used Handbrake, which is (IIRC) open source and hence free, but there are other options. Some media player software can even do it.
I know it's possible. I know it is something I would like to have done. I just don't seem to be getting around to it. Thanks for reminding me. Maybe I should tell myself "Quit bitching about it; do it."

Hoping folks have a good day today.

Those who know me know that I am a nighthawk, not a morning person. You can imagine my Dad's dread when he phoned me to tell me that he had to be at the hospital at 6am for a procedure he Is having, lol, and it is at least 30min away. Aah well, it will be an early morning but it does mean he won' have time to fret before it though it has been weighing on him. I am glad that it will be done, and an early morning will be good for me.
Getting up early enough to have somebody at the hospital 30 min away by 6:00 am means getting up in the middle of the night. You deserve a nap today.

*** waking up this morning ***
It's a good day. I have hot water in the shower. I have coffee in my cup. I have family in my house. I have heat in my home.
Honestly, there are so many things about most of our lives that are good to celebrate from as simple as the air that we breathe, and the land that we walk on...to the more unique and complex of the thank-yous. I remember to give thanks to having a father that is alive and almost 90.

You are all part of that thank-you. May you have a wonderful day.

Thanks for all the birthday greetings, and for the singing. As someone who is also tone deaf I enjoy the love and energy and caring that goes into a hearty rendition of the song more than the perfect pitch.

I heard the definition of perfect pitch - when you throw the banjo out the window and it lands on the accordion.
I've joined in great sing-alongs accompanied by a banjo or accordion.

Happy birthday Seeler. Are you turning to a good year - one with a sharp memory and no aches or pains?!!

I heard that perfect pitch was landing a piccolo in a toilet with one toss.

Happy Birthday Seeler! At one point I was told I had perfect pitch - but that relates to hearing notes that aren't inside my head. My singing is far from that!

I'm feeling awful today. Not sure if this is the HAE or what. I'm getting very frustrated, it seems like I haven't had all the many good days lately. There is stuff to get done.

Today, I managed to get dinner going - Chemguy got the meat into the crockpot this morning, and made sure I had everything upstairs. The only really prep I had to do was wash and cut potatoes. Beyond that, it was just throw everything in and turn it on. That took everything out of me. Using a can opener on soup felt like too much work for lunch. Luckily we keep some frozen meals on hand.

Awww, ChemGal . . . if I could have a Christmas/New Year miracle wish for you, it would be that you would be healed of all of this. I hope you start to feel a little bit better soon.

CROCKPOTS ARE A MIRACLE AND HEAVENLY

they should be in the Canadian constitution

so many lovely & scrumptious dishes can be nurtured in them

Thanks Beloved. My throat started to tighten up so we treated and I'm feeling better (although I did manage to drop a heavy butterknife on my foot, resulting in a minor cut and painful bruise). I'm just hoping this lasts! If this keeps up I might be looking to increase my dosage/frequency, but I'm hoping it's not necessary. Hopefully getting over a rough time now means I'll be having more good days closer to Christmas.

IW, it's so true. Thanks to things like canned veggies, frozen veggies, etc. It's also really easy to avoid minimal prep with them. Pot roast - thaw over night, we no longer bother browning it first as we haven't noticed a difference. Garden potatoes - washed and cut, I do have some canned potatoes that I haven't tried before though. Bagged mini carrots, open bag and toss in. Frozen peas & corn - same thing. A few spoonfuls of jarred garlic. Dried onion flakes, thyme, rosemary. I guess I did grind the pepper. I use some of the prepackaged crockpot seasonings too, not an entire pack though. Mix that with cheap red wine instead of water. Usually I would wash and cut up some celery too, but we didn't have it on hand.

Super simple, yet Chemguy won't do it all alone, not that I expected him to do it today as it's still a little time consuming to do before running off for work. If I'm not feeling great, he will get all the main ingredients in and then gets me to add the seasonings. If I'm really bad off he needs me to supervise how much and what seasonings to put in - doesn't trust himself to make it taste good in the end.

Well that ended up being a much longer day than anticipated!

Surgery was moved to 8am (thank goodness), so didn't have to get up until 6:15am.
Surgery was much longer than anticipated (a full 2 hrs) due to the fine work and a required skin graft.
It's all good.
Kept him busy afterwards, having a lunch, getting prescription, so he will sleep well tonight.

Life is good.

I first read that as "sugary" which seems much more pleasant than surgery. But I'm glad to hear that it went well!

I hope his recovery is uncomplicated Pinga.

I got out shopping today. I'm worn down, but now I at least feel on pace with that aspect. I also got quality winter boots, I've had problems finding durable, comfortable, warm ones the last few years so have been buying less durable, and slightly less warm ones from walmart so my old ones would get a few more wears when I really needed it. A bit of a relief not to have to worry about that for a few years now.

So far, no sign of any new attack other than a bit of fatigue. I don't think this is bad enough to indicate one is going to happen though - or at least I hope not!!!

I sold four books at Presbytery today and could have sold more if I'd taken more with me. And two at square dancing tonight - one was to someone who already has her own copy (now loaned to a friend) and who wanted one as a Christmas gift.
Presbytery meeting was pretty much routine business until the last item on the agenda when we broke into small groups to consider how having Maritime Conference affirming might be able to assist in Presbyteries and individual congregations becoming affirming. Even those of us who wholeheartedly desire Affirming across the board hesitate to force anything on congregations against their will.
Generally telling somebody (or some group) that they 'have to' do something just gets their back up and interferes with dialogue and change.
