This morning I phoned my friend who's son-in-law took his life a few days ago. I didn't know whether to or not, or what to say, but I kept feeling the urge and felt that I would regret it if I didn't. I never know what is right or proper to do or what to say in a case like this. So I called midmorning knowing she would be up but not yet too busy. I expressed my sympathies, and ask if she was 'alright'. She seemed glad I called and she took it from there - expressing her anger and fustration, and deep sorrow.
I will skip the visitation at the funeral home tonight - it will be crowded with close friends of the immediate family and people from the hospital where he worked. I'll be at the funeral tomorrow. Ours is a big church with seating for probably over 500 - these large sanctuaries do come in handy sometimes.
Busy today - defrosting the freezer - with laundry baskets of frozen food piled on the back deck. Temp today just a few degrees below freezing. It will be ok.

Always better to say something rather than nothing in these situations. Often a few short comments will suffice and be much appreciated.

Kudos to you for reaching out, @Seeler. People don't always reach out in awkward or uncomfortable situations.

Crazyheart I haven't really said much but I have been thinking of you and your family. You had mentioned your breathing at the funeral which is understandable, I hope that's doing better now so that you can focus on what's needed for the heart in your crazyheart.

I'm having a bit of a low day today. Worked out, but had to cut it short. Took a long nap. Really low on energy but I think I'm ok otherwise.

@ChemGal, Funny you should bring this up. I had an appointment today at Wascana Rehab and was

tested for the use of oxygen. I need it for walking. When I am seated or any other time I don't.

Saskatchewan Health give me 10 cylinders a month I will get it in the next few days.

Make sure you thoroughly understand how to use them and get whoever trains you to repeat any processes you are not sure about. Is there a protocol for regular monitoring by a respiratory therapist or a nurse familiar with home O2? After hours call in case you have problem in the middle of the night or on a holiday?

As I have said in the past, my employer does home oxygen in Ontario so I have some familiarity with this.

Sorry to hear you need it, but glad to hear it's being taken care of.

It's a bit to get used to, that home oxygen. My mother-in-law needed it many years ago - in fact that was the thing caused her move to a retirement home, because none of us would trust her to not smoke if she had it her own home. She adjusted well tho - to both the oxygen & the RH, thankfully.
Hope your transition goes smoothly crazyheart. I don't imagine you're a smoker, so that won't be an issue. I'm glad to hear the gov covers the expense for you.

On my way home. Currently on the hertz bus from the car rental to the airport.

Packed everything i needed into my laptop bag this week, so hoping means airport checkin and processing is fast.

Late night getting home tonight

Yes, loved visiting with my youngest last night.

Headed to five oaks this aft for the weekend, then back to the states until we'd, then back to five oaks, then don't plan to travel in march

Then a week in the states in April for work and a week in San Diego for play

Wow - busy few weeks for you pinga! Do you ever wake up in the morning & need a few minutes to orient yourself to where you are and what's on your plate for the day?

Wow, what a day. We had a storm the likes of which I have never seen earlier than May before. Heavy rain and non-stop lightning. Some streets closer to downtown were flooding. And, naturally, it hit during evening rush hour.

Has anyone noticed that it is more difficult getting into the US lately?

Haven't been down since before the inauguration and it was smooth as silk then. However, with them being more vigilant under various directives from the new administration, it does not surprise me.

@Pinga is traversing the border regularly these days. Perhaps she can comment on how it is going for her.

we heard about it on the news - but fortunately it wore itself out & didn't make it into our area! Seems so strange to have this weather in Feb.

Drove to the chalet through some bright lightning. Snow is almost gone in the trees. Hills are still covered, I'm told. We had a 3ft base before this started.

Claire races at Osler tomorrow, so we're hoping the rain is gone by then. There is snow in the long range forecast, so we may get late March skiing again in Ontario. But the creek beside us is overflowing at the moment.
