My introduction to Bassets (besides the comic strip) was my old GP -- she used to take care of two, Pebbles & Mica, who would stay with her as she worked in her practice....they were sweet old girls -- they'd greet people with their low yelp, their tails wagging and they exacted their tribute -- loved endless scritches -- they were inseperable and one of their best friends was a little terrier who was very hyper and uber cuteHe's not as fat as SOME bassets, but he is pudgy. We keep hitting double digits followed by more snow! Right now my garden boxes are snow free, not sure for how long though!Double digit highs forecast for London for the next 1-2 weeks. If that forecast holds, my snows are comin' off. Doubt I'll need them anymore.
We are having a very warm dry spring, although it's rained off and on for a couple of days now. It did hit 17 or something the other day. Snow is mainly gone; Star of Bethlehem have taken over front yard; no crocuses flowering yet.
On an unfortunate note, may be a very shortened maple syrup season. If the nights don't go below zero consistently, sap stops running.
And in true Ontario fashion, there are flakes of snow drifting down this a.m. The mud field that is my back yard has a skiff of ice on it...
