Well said (no Like button in this forum, else I'd hit it). We are a branded as a "Welcoming Congregation" (think "Affirming" in UCCan speak) and, yet, there are times when some of us have been less than welcoming, though that lack of welcome has generally been based on issues other than gender and orientation.

Years ago, during the height of the last humanist-spiritual battle, we lost a very good, very valuable new member due to some pig-headed humanists who objected to her universalist, somewhat theistic spiritual views. She ended up in the UCCan for a time and then moved away after she retired and was talking about getting a UU church going in her new hometown. We haven't been in touch in a long time so not sure if that happened or not.

All communities have exceptions to the roués ... just to keep attributes on toes and chewing ... to see what's virtue in that ...

I'll welcome and do ministry with anyone so interested.
Ok... I will detail the question .......
Would you work on assuring that the welcome offered is such that I get to use the womens bathroom.
And please .... even if you presently have only single stall bathrooms ... consider yourself in a church with multi stall bathrooms .... would you stand up for me? Eventually you will most likely be in such a church.

First, as a side note, I disdain the way the word "bathroom(s)" is being bandied about by so many in the current debate. The vast majority of public facilities are not bathrooms. They're washrooms. There's no bath.

Second, I thought the concept of this thread was that we were to ask you questions to answer. No matter.

Third, I've never been a part of a church in which it was part of the pastor's role to set washroom policy.

Fourth, I think the way my church has things works great - two unisex washrooms which can be used by anyone who needs to.

Fifth, the policy I would want in a church building's designated washrooms that have multiple stalls is - all men use the "Men" washroom, and all women use the "Women" washroom.

You still have not answered my question Jae....
This is a thread to ask questions and I have yet to see a question I have avoided.
Threads are also a place for discussion .... a two way street.
Would you answer my question please?

I feel I have answered it.

Your usual avoidance Jae .....
I suppose that is a measure of the welcome and pastoring a person such as me would receive.

Sorry that you feel that way RitaTG, but I'm not sure as to exactly why you do.

I never demand of anyone to prove to me that they are using the correct washroom. I leave it to everyone to decide which washroom they should use.

The question was far more detailed than that Jae.
As a minister .... with multi stall facilities would you advocate for me in a church using the womens washroom?
A clear and detailed question that I very much would appreciate a clear answer.

Not quite sure what you mean by "advocate."

Yes you do Jae ... you have been to school.....

Right, I'm aware of the definition of the word advocate. However what I don't know is exactly what you mean by that. What shape would you see such advocacy take?

"Advocate: verb ˈadvəˌkāt 1.
  1. publicly recommend or support."
I wouldn't say I would publicly recommend or support anyone's use of any particular washroom.

Jae,

Would you support everything as an incarnate concept of God in a world that would compartmentalize god's ... when idealisms collapse?

Such a boches to be in ...

When I was a little guy, I used to go swimming with my mother and two older sisters. Starting early I would be taken in with my mother through the ladies side, and they had little private changing/shower areas. As time passed, my sisters didn't want me in there, I don't know, I was maybe 4-5, but they would tell me to go through the men's side and I would beg them to let me come with them. Other women didn't want me in there either, and it was becoming a problem. I didn't mind going into the men's side to go to the bathroom, but I liked the private change rooms. The men's side was just two long benches down the middle of the room and a whole lot of nudity.

I was not comfortable changing in the men's room. What if I remained like that to this day. Should my comfort Trump all the women's comfort?

If I was a dad of 8 year old girls today, I think if one needed to go to the washroom at the mall, I would walk up to the women's door and announce that I am a trans dad who will be coming into the women's washroom in one minute so my daughter can pee, so be prepared. If the mall doesn't like that, they should supply me with a safe single stall unit where I can protect my daughter from men in the washroom.

Sloe Jinn along as Qui Largo ... largo demanding that we slow down for observation ... a'th aught?

Hoo'd ah thunk of such a thing ... Then there was the malt easing bird ... a falcon of ad hoc nature ... tis peculiar ...

The eagle chit Z ...

Bathrooms ...... yep ...... a quandary and a barrier for us every day...
Churches ....... I sat in a Catholic church with my mother on the weekend.
I made sure I went to the bathroom elsewhere before we went to church so I would not have to face that problem there.
Nervous bladder .... that's me ..... under stress the urge is more frequent and more urgent.
Needing to go and knowing I am not allowed in the womens bathroom ...... that makes me feel "less than", "other" and tries to make me feel "freak". That I refuse but it is so hard on the heart.
I have no rights in churches..... the very place with the big "welcome" sign....
f*** what other people think, chica
If you base how you.feel or your identity or whichever on other people then youll constantly feel anxious n stressed n angry n etc
Never.be.normal. normal is for squares and those in govt :3
You are a delightful freak
A child of g_d doing g_ds work
If you havent already you should learn some form of meditation. That wil serve you well in many areas of yer life.

Read Yehuda Bergs expression of "normal" in his book KABBALA ... he say in a world where lying, cheating, stealing, murdering and stressing out your siblings is normal ... lets be crazy ... say something that baffles the normal ... a baffle being a metaphorical wall ... keeps the normal from knowing things of soul ... and thus the black or absent option as abstract! Tis good for the heart ... according to people no longer here/Eire that?

Are lovers and thinkers crazy according to the medium ... that betwixt eM? That thin red line ...

Are you a trans dad? And what do you mean "protect your daughter" and "safe"? Are you here helping to continue the notion that trans individuals are out to attack kids in washrooms? The stats don't exist to warrant such a fear. Not saying that it can't happen, but most kids who are abused are usually abused by someone in or known by the family in the home. And it is always and utterly horrid.

Should a person have a bit of the grand mother-father clause in their repertoire? Helps mellow the younger rants ...

Provides place for the soul to evolve from darkness ... a kind of veil over wisdom ...
