Did you see it? She had affairs with men, when identifying as a woman. Maybe "B".
Maybe, and no, I didn't see it. I only see PG and G movies rated at least 75% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes.

I guess a question I have is - especially in light of that movie - how do doctors go about establishing whether it is an obsession or biological? If it is an obsession or kink as in the case of my parents' friend, no big deal. The (irreversible) difference being, if someone were to have gender reassignment surgery and regret it down the road? Does this happen?
The path to SRS (sex reassignment surgery) is a long and difficult one.I can't imagine such regret happens very often, but I have no stats to back me up on that. @RitaTG? Thing is, such surgery is a major step in someone's life. I doubt very many would have it unless they were certain that it's something that they want done.
Thanks Rita. I hope my questions were not too uncomfortable. This was the conversation raised after the movie by my stepdad who has little experience trying to understand it and myself who has some and has since the 90s known some trans people but I guess I still have questions.Ok ... I will try and help ....
First ... gender identity "T" is not the same as sexual orientation "LGB"
Therefore a trans person also has a sexual orientation and that is best determined according to the gender they identify as.
So a trans woman that is attracted to women would be "L" and if attracted to men would be "H"
I hope that helps that part.
The reason "T" is included in the LGBTQ acronym is that way back is was considered a sexual deviancy and we were all lumped in together. Ideally we actually stand apart but I don't mind being included in the acronym.
Now for the thorny question:
Yes it is possible and quite probable for this to be much more of an obsession rather than biological and that applies to crossdressers however I will maintain that there is still a biological connection.
However .... during the dawning of awareness it is most common for a person to first identify as a crossdresser. That was also true in my case. As things progress and what has been repressed emerges more and more we find that label no longer adequate.
It takes a lot of hard work to sort things out and really understand what is going on inside.
There is no easy path and just like everyone else we get confused and sidetracked along the way.
Just because we "are" does not make us any sort of expert. We have been raised in the very same society and everyone else.
We have grown up being socially conditioned in a gender that was chosen for us at birth and that colours our perceptions of what we think a woman should be like.
There is so much relearning to do.
I hope this helps.
Kimmo ... thank you.....Thanks Rita. I hope my questions were not too uncomfortable. Good question @Mrs.Anteater .....@RitaTG ,
I am not sure if this has been answered already, but the thread is too long to go all the way back-
What part of the process is covered by provincial health insurance ( if any)- and if not, what are the financial costs? Any different provinces handeling it differently?
Yes there is ......If a woman had 2 mastectomies because of cancer in one breast and also
breast reconstruction, it would be covered by Sask medical, I believe.
Is there discrepancy between medical surgery and Trans surgery?
*hug*Kimmo ... thank you.....
We need to have these uncomfortable conversations and you are safe to ask me.
This is why I started this thread in the first place...... a safe place to ask whatever....
Thank you for trusting me enough to ask...
Hugs
Rita
