Latest we have experienced snow was June 11. We were up in St. Anthony. I was out with my son and the local Beaver Colony planting trees. The bottom of the thermostat dropped out, what we thought were rain clouds unleashed a frightful torrent of snow on us for about 20min or so.

Nasty.

Looks like parts of the Island are going to get snowed under tonight or tomorrow. They are calling for 15 to 30 cm of snow in Gander.

So . . . If you are away ye might wants to stay away for a spell.
 
So, re dogs in bed.

Once was staying at a house. House had pets, including a small dog.

Went to bed. Couldn't get to sleep, wondered what smell was.
Got up, turned on light

Dog had s**t in the bed!
Seriously.

Took covers off bed
Slept with my coat as blanket and on my towel
 
No pets in bed here. I think even if my pet allergies magically went away, the dirt and other allergens they carry would have me keeping them out! Probably out of the bedroom completely.

And then there's the happy medium. The heavy critter blanket on the bed during the day. If the critter blanket is on, whichever combo of dog/cat would like to lay on the bed is welcome to. If the critter blanket is not on, they get a scowl, and then covered with the critter blanket as I put it over them.
 
I actually like sleeping with my dogs. My husband will not tolerate dogs in the bedroom, and certainly not on the bed, so whenever we're together it's a no go. However, when I am alone I usually let the dogs sleep with me. I particularly enjoy it at the cottage. Bailey, our old Lab whose legs are giving her trouble, can no longer jump up on the bed so she sleeps on a large dog pillow at the foot of the bed. Archie, our French water dog, curls up at the foot of the bed and keeps my feet warm. It makes me happy.
 
We love our cat sleeping with us. He is always welcome except for those special nights.
 
I grew up with a cocker spaniel that was always on my bed. I would allow our dog up.
@DaisyJane , you know my spouse. Sounds like he & your's have similair rules.

I grew up with a cocker spaniel and a king charles spaniel. The King Charles loved to burrow to the bottom of the covers and sleep at your feet - usually with my sister. We always wondered how the dog would breathe.

My parents just got a Springer. Eight weeks old this weekend. As a rule I am firm believer in crate training, particularly at night. Archie sleeps in a crate if he isn't with me (when hubby is away!). I asked my parents how crate training was going with the new puppy - not so much apparently! Didn't last five minutes. The puppy whimpered and was sleeping at the end of the bed the first night. Oh well.
 
And life with puppies (especially 'known' breeds) versus life with rescues (often 'mutts') who have had an unknown and often pretty awful past are quite different things, I think.

So true. I know many people actively involved in rescue operations and see the amount of work and caring that goes into nurturing rescue dogs, particularly those from difficult pasts.

With Matthew we didn't feel we could take on such care, nor could we accept a dog where there was a risk of behaviour problems. So we have always purchased puppies of breeds known for being docile and friendly. Ultimately we needed to know that the dog wouldn't have an aggressive bone is his/her body.
 
does anyone here love lying down and being puppy piled by a pile of puppies (what do you call a group of puppies? a bark? a cute?)? all fur and tongues and etc?
 
Absolutely. My dear mutt is a Kijiji dog, acquired with no knowledge at a period when it was just "me and the cats". I'm certain enough of my control between critters (and I'm a dab hand at cutting exit holes in doors for cats, lol) that I will foster/rescue critters when needed. Would never have let it get in the way of human relationships. I've never had anything other than rescues, but you pick differently/more carefully when you have small children or vulnerable people around.
 
My kids' dogs were a beagle and a black Lab, and their Granddad's goldens. Again, my critters were rescues, but purebreds a little easier to predict good personality (got my black lab at age four, but she was one of those "kids can ride me" dogs always).
 
My first cat used to “knead” my chest to tell me he wanted breakfast. Not so happy about that habit, especially on weekends.
My present cat snuggles up at my feet which is comforting. Except for the few times she is in hunting mode and goes after my toes.
