more signs of spring:

walking on the asphalt through the sun drench and two species coming upon each other -- for a few moments, we were together, she munching on the scattered seed, until i blinked or looked away then she scurried into the underbrush. i thanked the squirrel (or was it really some kind of fae or earth spirit? hmm)

It seems that spring is finally here. Sunshine for two or three days in a row. Temperatures over 20 in the afternoons. I've been putting my shorts on and going out on the deck trying to get some colour and some vitamin D that doesn't come from a bottle.
Thinking about fiddleheads.

One swallow doth not a summer make....................but I saw one first thing this morning. By 10.30 there were two and they were busily carrying dry grass into a nest box!

Foregut the swallow .. drank the whole damn Klein bottle till it was clearly empty ... as ain't that a pitch ... of a water pipe ... the sound of a love sic cardinal?

The power of spring - I skyped with my mother Saturday, showing her the poor little green tips of my crocuses, barely one inch out of the soil. Could not believe my eyes 24 hours later they were in full bloom , with bees buzing around. I should have sat there- could have watched them grow.

OK, Herman, you got the right to complain about the heat now.:)

You got that right! Yesterday was already too hot for me, and it is only the beginning of May! There'll be five more months of this!

But I have my computer room in the basement; it never gets too hot down there. On hot days, my early morning walks are truly enjoyable. And I do most of my outside work in the cool of the morning.

Morgenstund hat Gold im Mund, eh? :)

more signs of spring:

those doves (the colour of chocolate milk powder) with their haunting call & their more whimsical 'myeee! myeee!' birdkazoo call

sunbathers on Kal beach in various states of dress

those punk innocent packanimal scurrying quail with their flapper hats, living refutations of natural selection

hillsides festooned with wild sunflower & mariposa lily and the lovely sun-enhanced smell of Ponderosa Pine bark (vanilla)

seeing the snowless majesty of Mt Ida, an extinct cinder cone incorporated into salmon arm and home to one of the most spectacular views from a cemetery i've experienced

i don't know, but we might be edging into summer here
some salmon berries are already ripening
the heat & humidity today made me feel like i was in a greenhouse again (i've been coughing outside since i got back from my bro's visit) & i saw some what looked like mammatus clouds today
a nice lemon-yellow sunset to complement the pretty NDP klatch earlier

Hummingbirds are regular visitors at both our feeders now (livingroom window and back deck).
And the rhubarb is growing - perhaps we'll have a nice rhubarb crisp for dessert tomorrow.
I haven't heard anything about fiddleheads yet this spring.

O' stretch ferns ... more expansive than the mortal soul ...

At one point in time some bright minded person tried to prove these unwinding things were toxic ... sort of like reeling thoughts of the great fisherman ...

Is that why real people prefer fiddleheads with salmon, or shad racked ... in a steamer ...

I LOVE rhubarb Bette! I have a small plant, but it doesn't get as much sun as it really should. My neighbour is very generous at sharing from her bounteous garden.
