My landlady and I are going to arrange a yard/ sidewalk sale in a few weeks. The dog walkers and joggers can come by. We'll have second hand stuff, a "free" bin and some art, crafts and maybe my stepbrother can play his guitar and leave the case open. It was a good inspiring chat...if we can get it together it will be fun! We can reinforce social distancing, but most people are in the habit now anyway.

Reccommend Man in the High Castle. WOW they do SUCH a good job. An alternate history based on PK Dick book where the Allies lost WW2.

Monk. Tony Shaloub plays a detective with OCD etc. A comedy.

Burn Notice. Fun lil series aboot a spy who has been burned in Miami.

1865. A great podcast dramatization of the Lincoln assassination and the aftereffects. Oh how close the US came to repatriating slaves. So close. Also free.

Stellar Firma. Free podcast. Aboot a clone and his mast--co worker who design planets for rich clients.

Doc Martin. Britcom aboot a surgeon who has to GP in a tiny fishing village of slightly mad people.

The Trove. Nonprofit rpg archive. There are gems here.

Open Culture. Free. Collection of free songs, uni courses, books, movies, audio books etc.

Boingboing. Internet carnival with short articles on various items or subjects.

Medium. Blog site. Lots of different authors to read and check out.

Periscope app. Free lil app where people film themselves from all over the world and you can chat with them for free in real time. I've successfully used this to double check a MSN story aboot a "riot" in real time which didnt turn out to be one. I also follow Solange who lives in Israel and who is invaluable source of info.

DONT USE TIKTOK app. Security expert find it is doing very strange and spooky things that it shouldnt do.

Team Human. Free podcast where Douglas Rushkoff talks to peeps to try to come up with better more human ways to live.

The Midnight Gospel. Omg. Animated by Adventure Time peeps version of Duncan Trussel podcast (his podcast is free...a very loving and wonderful human being). Very trippy. Moments of wonder and even sadness. I think it is on Netflix.

Youtube channel Corey Gil-Schuster. Takes questions from viewers and asks them of Israelis and Palestinians, Jew and Christian and Arab. Good stuff for breaking free of corporate news narratives.

Freewillastrology. Fun horoscopes and even more fun and pronoiac positive writings.

GoodNewsNetwork. Only collects good news.

Walking outside. Nuff said.

We're watching #AnneFrank Parallel Stories on Netflix right now. It's very good.
 
We've recently started watching "What we do in the shadows" - a comedy mockumentary series, now in season 3 apparently, but we're just a couple of episodes in. The main characters are several quirky vampires who have been living in a flat in New York City for a few hundred years - their various current era dilemmas and escapades are featured. We find the writing to be excellent & very funny, but it IS dark and certainly not everyone's cup of tea. One of the writers is Taika Waititi who directed the recent movie JoJo Rabbit.

Have you seen Waititi's original movie that he spun this off from? Absolutely hilarious piece of dark horror-comedy. Waititi himself is in it. Similar plot about a diverse group of vampires sharing a place but set in his native New Zealand (Wellington, I think). Is the show done mockumentary style? The movie is, with the vampires talking to an off-screen interviewer at times and that sort of thing.

Alas, the TV show seems to have once again put off the planned sequel/spinoff about the pack of werewolves that appear in the original movie.
 
@Mendalla - no we didn't see the original movie - but I can just imagine! Might have to look for it. Yes - the series has some mockumentary moments too. The werewolves made an appearance in the most recent episode watched.
 
Every once in a while I will watch Omeleto on Youtube.....they're short films lasting 15 minutes to 29 min. and they often tell a very impactful story in such a short time. There's hundred's of them.

We watched that as well

Fun interpretation of the book. The relationship (love) between Az and Crawly is wonderful. Funny seeing Hamm in there; perfect broomstick up bum guy.

We watched last night a strange indie flick on Am Prime called the Hill and the Hole. An interpretation of a Fritz Leiber tale. We both quite enjoyed the cinematography.

It has 8 episodes so far.

I'm trying to describe it. It is Science Fiction, not the Puzzle Solving Science Fiction or Hard Science Fiction kind.

Its slow moving in general. It trusts our intelligence. And is really aboot human beings. And I was constantly surprised by having my expectations broken. The people in this movie are so nice and understanding and "real". No cynicism or Idiot Plots anywhere.

And we genually cared for the characters and even felt sad when a loss happened.

I don't know if this is going on to a second season but I dont...care? Its perfect as it is.

Another possible thang

Since this is a unique event we r all experiencing

I do hope some of us here have felt free to document anything aboot their life

No matter how small these feelings or pangs or thoughts or ideas could b useful data inna future.

There was a group during the lockdown who were asking for recordings of coughs.

As well as, like a dream journal, it can b enjoyable and you can latet notice patterns.

Steve Kingz The Stand. The TV miniseries has one of my favourite openers to Dont Fear the Reaper

The Thing by John Carpenter* Full on paranoia mode and isolation and super bonkers outrageosity. The prequel was BORING.

BirdBox. End of the world via mysterious violent agency. Shades of Lovecraft.

Various infection movies: Contagion, Bird Flu (for the yuks...very bad movie), any zombie flick, Cabin Fever, Rec 1 2 and 3.

@ Mendalla - having finished season 1 of the 'What we do in the shadows' series, we watched the original movie the other night. There are many similarities for sure, but we actually prefer the series. Found the movie to be darker, with more blood & gore, with fewer humourous moments. Perhaps because humour has such cultural differences? Anyway - we're looking forward to season 2 with our new serialized vampire friends. :giggle:

We watched the movie " Into The Wild" on Netflix based on a true story about a young man who tries to give up everything and just live off the land and his instincts, unfortunately a city boy who was not as prepared as he should have been....found it quite interesting.
After watching it I read a follow up from the young mans sister which added more insight and truths to the story.
 
Yet your entire carrier for the (censor) rips through space at a relative speed ... since we cannot determine absolutes ...

Absolutes mean nothing to me given the lack of reference point that is statute ... a prick of a MS NG item ... there's nothing tuit!
 
The other evening I watched Little Women - newest movie version - really enjoyed it. Thought it was well cast & I always enjoy the richness of sets & costumes in these stories from another era.

On the other end of the spectrum, I watched a TED talk by Peggy McIntosh - she of the now more widely known "White Privilege - Unpacking the Invisible Backpack" paper. On the TED talk page there is also a link to her SEED project, and to the paper - which I've downloaded for reading. Recommend it.
