I like both but I've probably seen more "classic era". Started watching when I was 12-ish because my local PBS outlet picked up the Third Doctor episodes from the early seventies. TVO was running it back then, too. Kept it up on and off until it was cancelled, though largely skipped one doctor (Colin Baker, the sixth).

Cute Dr. Who trivia: The Tenth Doctor, who you will meet soon if you haven't already, is played by David Tennant (one of the best actors ever to play the part) who is married to the daughter of Peter Davison, the Fifth, and she herself guested in one episode.
 
There's an older miniseries I watched awhile back...not sure where to find it though. Perhaps HBO. Anyway, it's called John Adams and it's about the time leading up to the American Declaration of Independence and Adam's (Paul Giamatti) role in that. Of course, Abigail Adams (Laura Linney) is amazing. She was John Adam's primary advisor. She was very influential.
I always like learning something new about an old story and this is a superb, high-quality and entertaining American history lesson. This one is those fascinating history lessons that bring it to life. It's devastating how far a nation can fall from it's original idealism. Wonderful acting and interesting characters. Very beautifully presented.
If you can find it, it's worth a watch.

David Tennant is the doctor in the series I'm on now. I quite like him. I'll have to see if I can find the older series. Do you know where it might be? That being said, I like subsequent Star Trek versions better than the original even though we watched the original as kids.

Last I checked, Britbox had the best collection of classic Dr. Who among the North American streaming services. It specializes in BBC and iTV stuff from the UK. Keep in mind it was a different format back then. 20-25 minute episodes with stories spanning anywhere from 2 to (in one rare case) 22 of them. There were season-long arcs covering multiple stories in a couple cases, too (Key to Time and Trial of a Time Lord). Some episodes from the sixties, including (IIRC) parts of the debut of the Second Doctor (which was when the whole concept of regeneration was invented), are lost due to stupid BBC archival policies.

The thing with classic Who is that because it went on so long and went through seven lead actors and I forget how many producers, the character of the show changed over time, not just the character of The Doctor. So if you don't like the first doctor (mid-sixties), try the fourth (mid-late seventies). It's rather different show. Many fans, including me, think the first few seasons of the Fourth Doctor are the best story and writing-wise (even though my favorite Doctor is Jon Pertwee, the Third). If you like The Master (not sure if you're up to his return yet), he first appeared under the Third Doctor and then had his first return in the last couple seasons of the Fourth. I still think Roger Delgado, the first actor to play The Master, is the best. Tragically, he died young which is why a new Master was introduced under the Fourth Doctor.

What service are the new series on now? Crave? Netflix had them for a while but I think they lost it to BBC America in the states. Just wasn't sure who had the Canadian rights. I've seen all episodes up to the debut of Martha Jones and then sporadically until Tennant leaves. Have not seen much of the Doctors after him, one Matt Smith episode and nothing of the last two.
 
We just watched a different version of On Golden Pond last night. It was a live play for TV with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer playing Ethel and Normal Thayer. We really enjoyed it. I liked it too because we knew Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer as a young couple.
 
I recently finished reading The Alice Network by Kate Quinn. Really enjoyed it. Historical fiction, but in reading the epilogue I discovered some of the characters portrayed & events which occurred were very factual. Women spies in WW1 - who knew?
 
Last night I watched documentary I had recorded - 93Queen - 2018 documentary about ultaorthodox Jewish women who formed their own volunteer EMS service to respond to emergency calls of other orthodox women. In their tradition, men & women do not touch one another unless married - so it is therefore pretty difficult in emergency situations. There is an exemption in such cases, but women wanted to have a choice to be attended to by women. The existing orthodox EMS service would not accept women into their corps. So the women organized and formed their own service. So interesting. I recommend it - it won many accolades at Sundance Festival.
