I woke up early, feeling nauseous and it just got worse. I really thought I would be asleep again by now. I can hear the start of a thunderstorm and we're getting some rain. It's actually cooler now than when I got up.
Looking forward to some wet, cooler weather - mid-high 20s for this week. The garden should like it too, Chemguy and I were having to water some of the stuff multiple times a day and I don't think I did any of it yesterday. We ran around a picked up few things - looking forward to some heavy curtains to block out the sun as in the summer it affects both of our sleep, unfortunately they weren't available in store.

I'm sure I'll sleep for a few more hours at some point today. Should be feeling better after that.

I find it intersesting how different people define cold and hot weather. It really depends where you live and what you are used to.
It's been hot here. And for us that is 36 to 40 degrees. It's a cooler day today -only expected to get up to 26-29.

Chemgal I hope you wake up feeling better and cooler.

My sympathies to all suffering through the heat. I hate the heat. I left at 7:30 in capris and a t-shirt and quickly grabbed my jacket once I got outside - I usually like 13 but the dampness was crazy (we should have a dampex). It's overcast and drizzling at times. Canada Day is supposed to be iffy for weather - I feel bad because so many people come to Ottawa to celebrate and so much of it is weather dependent.

Church yesterday was most awesome. I'm starting to meet more people or to be more open to meeting people - I used to feel unworthy.

After my early morning appointments I tried to print things and spent 40 minutes fighting the printer and it seems to have won :( I hate being thwarted).

@Luce NDs Vermiculite is safe in most things (many people use it with peat moss and soil when gardening). Unfortunately attic insulation from the 1950s to the 1990s (I think) came from a mine in Montana that also had asbestos in it which meant that the vermiculite is infused with asbestos. It's not a risk until you renovate or move the insulation around.

Nice that you have a good part of the summer off Tabitha! Lots of time for canoeing or kayaking.

I put anything in the 30s as hot. High 20s can be pretty uncomfortable when it doesn't cool down at night.

wow, chemgal, you would not like s. ontario.

Justme, i can relate . I hate printer/hardware issues. I have a TomTom that my husband thought would be a good idea to loan to my son for his trip east. It was a great idea, but, he suggested it late Thursday. I looked for the cable to update the maps, and could not find. I went to buy one, and...they dont' stock this versions connector. (sigh), so, on Friday at 7pm I bought a new TomTom. Now that should have been simple, Bring home, hook up, download updates, set it, good to go. At 3am I finally got it working. At one point, it had no maps. I ended up using my son's computer to hook it in. I am not sure if it was the USB, software running on my laptop, or what....but seemed to be a pretty common issue per the forums, and of course their online support was shutdown for the night. Not the way that I wanted to spend my last evening with my son. Now, he had gone to bed....but...still. argh. I am a tech, but i despise hardware/compatabiity issues, and printers!

we have no airconditioning.

That's how I grew up. Mom and Dad didn't put it in until I was in my twenties and almost out on my own. Open windows, fans, praying for a strong breeze or a storm to come and break the humidity...I remember all that. My first house in Hamilton, too (it was a tiny townhouse about 80 years old) but that was only for about 3 years.

36-40 is crazy hot for BC!!! West coast anyway. 26-29 is a hot day! :) I like about 23.

It would be crazy hot here, too. I think the worst I've seen in Southern Ontario is maybe 34 or 35 and usually we just get past 30, 31 or 32 maybe, on the worst days.

Shanghai, my wife's hometown, on the other hand, that's summertime norm or so I'm told. I've never actually gone (I usually go in the Fall and once went in Winter). Even she won't go back in the summer if she can avoid it and she certainly discourages us from coming along if she does.

The smoke feom the forest fires is across Sask. except for a small square around

Swift Current. My voice is scratchy and hard to breathe. I haven't stuck my nose out. Hard to see.

I feel for those with breathing problems in cities with smog.

@Justme Vermiculate is like asbestos and beach sand ... a derivative of silica.

It can lead to silicosis ... but then such stuff with associated terrorism about its presence has got carried to extremes (polity)!

Moderation in all things ... some being more moderate than others but extremists would like to purify the other side of the lateral thinking node ... when there is a concept of wobbling and weaving when dealing with that line ... Ba'aL'ms Ass ... that's me ... too dumb to not ask questions and learn odd, peculiar and queer stuff that when learned can leave you Gae as a Celtic wee person in the Ehglish Lards eye... or at least dancing ... and the representatives of god didn't like the common folk to enjoy what the royals took for granted ...

Thus 5 carninal sins:
  1. Bowling
  2. Dancing
  3. Movies
  4. Drinking what biers you up
  5. Going to a Ba'aL Game on Sundays (really bad and our minister when I was a kid said it was a sure sighn of going to 'eLLe ... the H as holy letter being silent proving the fey mail genre input that creeps out a lot of real heros ... thus the lesser kind ... thoughtful singularities ... soles?

One foot at a time deire Jae Zus ... as "Z" is an old icon for summation ... and knowing when you're called for integration of all the lateral lines as a convergence of lines to a vanishing point in creative hiding for us eliminated thinkers in the religious realm... allowing us séance and hypostasis ... a stoppage to observe how crap comes from a pup 've bull .. an English Dawg? You see the believers in English as the tongue 've god don't know the ancient origins of Ole Saacson --- J'aimes Joies ! It is glee to know such alien stuff ... like peculiar minerals that water will resolve as the universal solvent ... a lateral comparison with the resolutions of the denied soul. Just look up all similar words to "lateral" in a variety of sources ... it leads to fey, or wild broad-based conclusions ... that one should digest or ponder as adept!

Thanks for sharing that pinga ... we've sure had those type of issues too, and in some weird way, it's a bit of a comfort to hear that a techie is not exempt! As my mom used to say 'misery loves company' - I suppose that applies!

So tonight I was sitting down to a lovely dinner on the deck with my husband ... and suddenly realized I was supposed to be in Burlington (a usual half hour drive) meeting friends for dinner!! With the new HOV lanes in effect on the highway due to PanAm games, it was absolutely not going to be possible to even get there for dessert! So I had to embarrassingly chalk it up to being a 'senior moment' (with apology to my senior friends!!). I'm sad I missed the get together ... it's been a great many months since we've all seen each other.
