I am so sorry. This is so wrong. I really think you should contact your health authority (ombuds or pt advocate or whatever it's called in AB) to show them concretely what patients have to go through. You are a strong, bright young woman and it would at least be good if something helpful came out of this forothers with rare disorders. I wish you well.
I have actually contacted them once - and they weren't all that pleasant to deal with. The problems I have don't fall under what they deal with, nor anyone else it seems.
I know I can get this sorted out - even if it means getting a written prescription from a totally different doctor. Just frustrating I have to go through all of this.

*sigh* Just thinking ahead for the surgery. For some reason, my hematologist is having me pick up meds at a different hospital from where I am getting my surgery. I have a copy of the fax. For some reason, the pharmacy never gets these. They also told me they had it - and then changed their story when I asked to pick it up on Tuesday :cautious:
The pharmacy won't accept my copy of the fax. The fax # is correct.
Did you ask the hematologist the reason for this? It may an error, it may be that only certain places carry what you need.

It does need to be a compounding pharmacy. This drug is commonly used for other disorders, so I think all hospitals should have it. I also have requested a closer compounding pharmacy in the past. It wasn't a mistake, as the info sent to the anesthesiologist who made the contact also go instructions as to how & when etc. for the 3 different forms it comes it - and it's clear that I was to pick up 2 of the forms from the university hospital pharmacy in there, in addition to the fax.

I didn't share the all positive of something related to all of this. I decided to chop off a good amount of hair - 6 inches-ish, so it's one thing that will be easier to take care of while I'm recovering. I should have done it a while ago anyway, I had bad split ends and combing it out after washing is really quite draining when I'm not feeling great.
Went to someone new, works out of her home, walking distance away. She did a great job! Now I have healthy hair for spring :)

That's frustrating about the pharmacys Chemgal, I hope you can get it worked out with as little hassle as possible. I can't believe how much of a hassle things seem to be for no reason! Yay about the new hair cut though, 6 inches is a lot! It must feel so different now but definitely easier to wash and comb and hopefully cool for the summer. I have very tight curls which I have finally found a way to keep going completely frizzy but I noticed the other day I should get my ends trimmed. I'm debating putting highlights in for the summer as well.

Good for you. Personally, I look like a poofball, and will until I get mine cut.

There must be haircutting messages in the air. I do nothing with my hair, except that I have two friends (my guy and a neighbour) who notice when my bangs need cutting and try to do them before I get my hands on my own hair, which always ends very badly. My guy did my hair Tuesday, and I can see again, which is always nice.

This frickin' snow in the morning when I get up is getting to me. A friend of mine called it spwinter this a.m....

Argh! The whole thing is stupid. Some are telling me my copy is sufficient, but they aren't the ones who can actually get me the med. I think I'm getting somewhere though. A fax is going to be resent. I also finally got the full truth about my GPs clinic - they don't do walkins even though they advertise they do. Any time I ask about this directly in the past I didn't get an answer - we'll make an appointment for today.

Again - can someone please explain why there is no online system where everything - including prescriptions - can be accessed?

Went bowling this afternoon. Three strings: 79, 82, and 90. Three spares; one strike. (Remember that my average is 76 - so I was above average every string, with luck)

Pleasant surprise. Carl and Norma dropped in for a short visit. They used to bowl regularly. In fact they connected at the bowling ally a few years after each lost theeir spouse (about 20 years ago). They dropped out of bowling about six years ago. She is 96 and he just turned 97. He still drives and they look as good as they did. I didn't ask if she still volunteers with the old folks at the nursing home - she did when she was 90 but mentioned that pushing wheel chairs got heavy when they went on an outdoor jaunt.

I should have just planned to go to my doctor's office earlier - because of course, right as I was getting everything together to go the phone rang. They have the prescription! Yay! She was concerned I was calling so soon though - it degrades pretty quickly. lol I have learned, call days ahead of when I actually plan on having it made. When I called yesterday, it was to ask to be able to get it on Tuesday.

More and more, I am confused how someone who has enough energy to work but still deals with being chronically sick is supposed to handle all these extra challenges thrown our way.

Nancy, I was hearing tonight of the elementary teachers being in a no contract position now ... so much unrest. I hope things will get settled for the sake of all the kids & teachers.

In the realms of authority ... who really gives a chit if they are comfortable enough in their position to just search for more for themselves?

Such is the pure realm of gods and rants and rages of gods about lesser powers ...

Once the disconnect is lost ... do we become splatter brained? This is extreme dissemination ....

With an excessive marketplace ... is there a negative effect on individualism .... thus causing self consumption and paradigm-IHC collapse?

Down the hole we go again Alice ...

Greetings everyone . . .

Your struggles with the health system seem endless, ChemGal - I hope you get everything worked out, and that your surgery goes well - definitely thinking about you, and caring about you.

Your friends sound like amazing people, seeler. Glad to hear you are still bowling with gusto.

Snow here yesterday and today - not lots, but enough to make it look like winter again. And it is cool. Supposed to get nicer in a few days.

Have a great Saturday everyone!
