Hello to all. I'm intrigued by the colouring idea and the Zentangles - I have no art skills at all but wld like to do something so will take a gander. @ChemGal I'm glad things are starting to get sorted out - I just read how in the US private professional advocates are starting business to do this for people - it's crazy that a normal human cannot keep up with such a system of silos.

@Carolla ur Prayer patch is getting a huge workout and has generated some interest and i've been asked to speak to Spirituality and mental health in a few weeks (details still to be ironed out). I love that I can keep it in my pocket and use my senses to distract with it - it's an awesome dbt tool too come to think of it - u seriously have no idea how much help it has been.

I'm stuck in the hospital for the weekend but can have a four hour pass with family/friend each day so that's good.

I'm just finishing rereading Margaret Laurence's five books about people from the same small Manitoba town. Each book tells its one story, but the stories are all interwoven - a minor character in one book becomes a major character in another. An incident in one book is remembered and has an effect on the lives of people in the next generation. Good reading, Beloved.

I've heard of sightings of robins for the past week or so. Last evening I spotted two in our apple tree. This morning I saw two from the car as I drove downtown. I guess they are back.
And the snow is melting quickly. Sunshine and warm breezes. Temp around 18 degrees; shirt sleeve weather. I wish it could stay like this until June or July.

Aww ... thanks Justme for the feedback about the prayer patch. A colleague asked me to knit a bunch for the women who participate in a mental health support group at her church ... they too expressed similar sentiments. Such a simple idea ... such a powerful thing. Hugs to you.

I finished my work day in Naramata today. So I slipped down to the Centre and walked the labyrinth. It smelled like summer-and it's 22 degrees.
Afterwards I sat on a bench and just enjoyed the sun. A papa quail and then a mama quail came out of hiding and sat enjoying the sun. A couple of robins flitted about. it was lovely.

Hope all goes well Justme. I don't know you, but from your posts, I admire you immensely.

Catching up on all the busy, busy news here. My news is that, because the school I teach at is closing, yesterday I got the phone call regarding 3 choices for next year. I chose a Grades 1 and 2 at a school not too far from where I live. I didn't think I was stressing about this, but after 'the call', I felt that a huge weight had lifted off my shoulders! Sometimes we feel stress without even realizing it until it's gone.

Nancy - 'sometimes we feel stress without even realizing it until it is gone.'

Years ago I was scheduled to call my doctor from work regarding some test results. I didn't think I was worried. But when I reached for the phone, I realized that I couldn't make the call from my desk, or even from the privacy of the Board Room. So I asked my boss's permission to 'go home and make a phone call'. So in the middle of the morning I left work, went home, made the call, and burst into tears - scaring my husband and son. The tests were good. I didn't have cancer. So I cried in relief; then went back to work. (This is a small city; I was home and back in less than an hour.)

I'm glad to hear that this is settled for you. Lucky kids in your new school.

oh no! We have snow in the forecast for next week too. Yesterday I hung bedding on the clothesline. Best sleep ever with that great outdoor smell.

Yesterday looked gorgeous, but it was mostly under 10 and the wind was so cold. Chemguy was painting my garden boxes and attaching the landscaping fabric, he said there was snow/sleet for a short while, but the ground didn't even stay wet for me to see it. We got a good downpour on Friday, that should help the grass. Hopefully today will be nice.

I'm away at a friend's chalet for a few days ... yesterday & today were sunny & windy. Now it's really windy - rain is blowing in for the next few days - hopefully just showers. It was great to be outdoors, working on the property, planted a forsythia for her, tidied up the gardens ... lots of bits of green starting to poke through the earth.

How nice to help with the spring tidy up, Carolla.

It is quite windy here, as well. I realized the front door screen door window was open, resulting in a rather cool breeze sifting through our old front door. It is on the list of replacement tasks for this year. I am sure we will see some improvements in our heating when we replace the front windows & doors.

A peer has been working through the weekend, attempting to restore our application to what it was last week, and I have been supporting as I could, plus watching for tickets. My own team needs a break after the chaos of last week; although in some ways it seems it was both expected and possibly a relief.

I came home to a euchre night (thanks Carolla) along with a totally disrupted house due to furniture swap out in our bedroom. Completed that, put all my clothes away, then moved furniture out that wasn't needed, and temporarily shifted furniture for euchre. It was a chaotic 8hrs, but I made it non the worse for wear.

Trying to figure out what the summer will look like. Vacation or stay at home and do chores/projects. Lots to do, just not sure yet.

Greetings everyone!

Just as many have said above - it was cold here today - very windy - and we woke up to a bit of snow. It was gone by noon, but remained cold and windy throughout the day.

Glad to hear your have your new job secured for the fall, Nancy.

Justme - caring thoughts continue to be with you at this time - hope you enjoyed your pass and outing.

My being longs for the time when I can be out puttering in my flower garden, flower pots, and garden, Carolla.

Maybe you could split the time between both - vacation and chores, Pinga?

Blessings to all this coming new week . . . may the sighting of your first robin of the year spark hope within; may a smile from a friend or stranger remind you that you are needed in this world, and that there is a reason for your being here, and that you are loved; if a chaotic or troubling situation arises, may peace work its way into your being; may a spring of green poking through the earth - the wag of a puppy dog's tail - a child at play - God at work in the world in a meaningful way to you, fill you with joy.

Well, Saturday night's snow, although it covered everything with white, melted away quickly when Sunday morning sun hit it. By church time it was gone. Sunday was beautiful - and todaay holds promise. I hope to do a bit of housecleaning - or at least wipe away the dust so that I can't write my name in it.
Still too early to do any gardening - but Seeleerman likes to go out and attack the snow piles - breaking them down and spreading them out so that the sun can hit them.
Me? I'd like to find a way to pack them up and save them for mid-summer when the gardens are bone-dry, and the sweat is pouring off my forehead. Right now there is a lot of run-off into the rivers - fine here right now, just a bit up over the parkland on either side of the river - but up-river I've heard that ice-jams are causing flooding in the village of Perth-Andover.

lovely hike after church in a local climbing area with a friend-my legs feel it today-and then out to a famous ice cream place for a cone. While not yet a senior I choose the senior cone as one large scoop is plenty! warm and sunny-no coats.

*sigh* Just thinking ahead for the surgery. For some reason, my hematologist is having me pick up meds at a different hospital from where I am getting my surgery. I have a copy of the fax. For some reason, the pharmacy never gets these. They also told me they had it - and then changed their story when I asked to pick it up on Tuesday :cautious:
The pharmacy won't accept my copy of the fax. The fax # is correct.

I am so sorry. This is so wrong. I really think you should contact your health authority (ombuds or pt advocate or whatever it's called in AB) to show them concretely what patients have to go through. You are a strong, bright young woman and it would at least be good if something helpful came out of this forothers with rare disorders. I wish you well.
